Evolving takes thousands of years. Slender Man doesn't evolve. I would say that Slender Man adapts, at best. His form is constantly changing to fit the society that he torments.

I would say he "assimilates" (Borg reference for teh win!). What I mean by that is he, for lack of a better word, 'morphs' into the form of whatever style is socially acceptable. For example, in the Dir Ritter picture, he is in armor. Seems fitting for the time. Nowadays, he's in a black suit, tie, and might I say STYLISH black shoes, HAAHAH.

I meant more that the theory that the black suit is actually part of his body, as his skin or whatever, would be a new adaptation of sorts. As you can see in the Der Ritter picture, he appears to just be wearing the armor; it doesn't go with his arms as he impales the other character.

That's also not a photograph, it's a woodcutting, and therefore an artist's representation of the legend of Der Ritter/Slenderman. Wouldn't trust it's verisimilitude were I you.

Then again, my wingnut lolz-theory is that this is all a story about the fear of growing up. It's blatant in the backstory of the pretentious student film. The entire game/story is steeped in metaphors, whether or not they're conscious! Very Happy

Well, that would be fine and all, if Slendy came from their story. But, Slendy didn't come from Marble Hornets.

True, but doesn't mean that the PM's/authors can't take and mold him for their own uses! The fact that SM's main MO mentioned elsewhere involves nomming children could have influenced the Marble Hornets story, too. Very Happy

I like the way this guy thinks. This is, perhaps, a subject for another board, but what's to say ARGs can't tackle thematic motifs the same way literature can? I for one would like to see them try.

I'm a newbie to this forum, so I haven't had time to delve in to a lot of the games going on or having finished... but I'm surprised to hear that that's not a common theme! Going back to sources material and futzing with it is some of the most basic tools that creative types have!

(Though I lol that the base source comes out of b chan, or whatever... something about that is just delightfully ironic.)

Oh Doctor Who.

You know, the face stealing happened through the television in that episode. Maybe that's why Slendy emits the distortion field around him (going by that theory) that messes with all the video and audio. He's still bitter at losing his face to the tv.

/inane nonsensical speculation

Oh, they do. And they do a brilliant job at it as well.

I was walking home from taking some pictures the other night and I felt like someone was following me. When I went through my pictures today, I found this one. Not quite sure what to make of it, or what to do. I found it odd that he may have been watching me with all of those other people around.
