Please post in this thread if you have a broken and/or missing phone that needs to be reported for the new Hivekuts Axons.

Thanks!

The phone for 10:43 is still MIA. We think it may have been in a Bennigans. I asked the employees, and they said they had one until a few months ago when they renovated.

broken indy axon

We have scoped the area out a bit and found one possible phone, that didn't work.
Raining_cops

It sounds like there might be another, but I just received a report that it may not have worked either.

I am 90 percent sure this is a bust because the Payphone directory page lists three phones at a Smiley's Pancake & Steak. This place no longer exists as best I can tell. All three of the phones listed for that locations don't work. The address 1301 S High School Rd when punched into the geocode site lists the coordinates exactly as they are listed above to all six decimal points. I don't see much hope here unless they move the location....

Raleigh, NC axons

Just in case there's anyone else trying to cover Raleigh, NC...

standard_procedure

The coordinates for this axon map to what turns out to be a scrap yard--the corner of it that's farthest from the street, too. There is no pay phone on the premises. In fact, I can't say that there are any pay phones in this area at all. Everything on the side of the road that the coordinates are on is industrial. There is a YMCA across the street from this location that may have a phone, and there is a gas station further down the road that has pay phones according to payphone-project.com (although it is quite far from the coordinates). A third posibility is the office of a nearby apartment complex...however, they seem to be closed at 4:21p edt, so I hope it isn't there.

I probably won't do any more exploration of the area around this axon unless somebody wants to meet up with me over there...it's a rough-looking neighborhood!

As for the rest of the Raleigh axons: If I'm the only person handling them this week, they'll remain cold until Saturday or Sunday (barring hurricane!!) because I can't take any time off work this week.

Two cold Los Angeles area axons:

16:43 PDT // 34.070754 -118.361406 // real
(East side of Fairfax at Blackburn, just south of 3rd St)

Coordinates are smack-dab on top of a bank of four payphones outside the Sav-On. Unfortunately, the phones do not accept incoming calls. They have listed numbers, but when you call them, the phones don't ring, they just make a *chunk* sound, and if you pick up an incoming call on them you get either a "phone out of order" message or a "please wait a moment" message, which repeats a few times, and then the line goes dead.

I did manage to hear the phone *chunk* at the proper time and pick it up, but wasn't able to get a connection to Melissa. (Nor does the site even read 'AXON CONNECTED'.) The number of the bad phone is 323-932-9536; definitely the RIGHT phone, just no way to make it work.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

16:03 PDT // 34.076978 -118.388915 // asset
(SW corner of Beverly Blvd & Wetherly Dr)

There's a payphone on these coordinates (310-858-9867), and it rings (in an anemic fashion), but I've been to this location twice now and the phone hasn't been rung by the Operator.

There's also a bank of four phones just outside the Ralph's nearby; I couldn't cover all of the phones by myself today but none of them rang the last time I was there.

I think it's worth repeating here that some payphones take incoming calls but will not ring. Give the phone a call before the specified time and see if that is the case. With a little luck you can still pick up the call at the appointed time.

Broken Phone.

real
16:33 PDT
42.520255 -083.188896
Inside restaurant, west entrance.

Broken Phone.

Phone rings, you can hear the caller, but the mouthpiece is broken.
Made two days' faulty attempts at answering "Melissa" before realizing the mic was at fault.

(Do I remember seeing a phone number to report broken phones to the PMs?)

The last Panic_button coordinate, which is in Minneapolis, Minnesota does not exist anymore.

Maybe you should advise Dana?

Keep it in character, of course. It's probably one of the best ways to get in touch with the PM's about problems with the game.

Another thought on this that I have seen is some people have run into phones that require you to put a quarter in before you can speak. I don't know if it is worth it for you to try it again, but this time putting a quarter in the phone right after you pick it up. Just a thought....

Not every axon is intended to work, or needs to work. Just post it here and move on. The PMs are behind a curtain. We don't talk to them. If they happen to see something here and decide to make use of it, then great.

Think of an in-game way of telling Melissa her axons are failing.

aliendial, I don't see why e-mailing Dana would be poking behind the curtain at all - I could certainly see someone writing to her thusly:

Quote:
Dear Dana,

You encourage us to help activate these axons so we can figure out how Melissa got here, and if we can possibly help her and/or stop her, if needed. However, I went to $AXON_LOCATION at $AXON_TIME, and the phone doesn't even ring! How is Melissa able to contact crew members when her network is hobbled so? We don't have a way of contacting her (and I'd try mailing your aunt's address, but I am not so sure the Sleeping Princess can help us just yet with broken payphones!), so I am just hoping that there are enough payphones in working order so we can all move ahead, here!

Just wanted to vent a bit, since I spent a bit of time and energy traveling to a location to make it hot.

Sincerely,

It's still 'in character,' and provides possibly useful information to the PMs that they may wish to use.

I don't think anyone was suggesting a course of action that would even ruffle the curtain. We currently do not have an obvious way to contact Melissa. We're not even sure she's aware of our 'existence' as players, since she believes the people answering payphones are her crew.

The Sleeping Princess has had to be sneaky about axons (we had to go looking behind the kitchen to find them, and she's not allowed to wander about the Castle, either), so that leaves Dana's email.

We don't know the first part of your assertion is true, either. If it were true, I'd find that to be rather bad behavior on the PMs' part - but that's just my opinion. I would never knowingly put up a false interaction location, knowing people were driving hours to get to it, taking time off work, etc. It seems terribly rude, and a total morale buster!
