Hi All:

Here is the email that I received when joining the game, had not seen this one anywhere so here it is for posterity.

Subject: Four Days: Heavy Rain Online Experience - Event 1 Introduction
Sent: Jan 26, 2010 1:38 PM

Four Days: The Heavy Rain Online Experience… You're about to embark on a unique series of three live four-day challenges that will draw you inexorably into the universe of Heavy Rain – and the first challenge has begun…

The rain is already falling - look there for answers...
http://www.heavyrainps3.com/rainisfalling

Follow – and you'll find yourself witnessing a disintegrating mind.
Listen and observe, even if your skin is crawling. Look for clues. Peel back the layers. Just because you don't see it straight away, doesn't mean it isn't there.

Keep your eyes open. With careful X-amination, new secrets could be revealed.

You'll have seen a sick mind at work. Then, as you see just how far their influence may have spread, it'll be time to turn the search inwards. Ask yourself the question, what would you do for love?

* Four Days: The Heavy Rain Online Experience is a live event which plays out in real time across three weeks. Between Tuesday and Friday every week there will be daily tasks for you to complete. Each task will lead you onto the next part of the journey. At key stages you will be prompted, whilst on other occasions you will need to deduce the right thing to do. You will receive an instructional email at the beginning of each of the three weekly events, and you can always turn to the Facebook Fan Page Community for help and discussion http://www.facebook.com/heavyrainofficialfanpage

Remember - make your choices, and live with the consequences. Because your smallest decisions can change everything…

Nothing super noteworthy from the original email that was already posted in here except for one thing....spelling is fine in the whole message except for the spelling of "examination", spelled "X-amination" (With careful X-amination, new secrets could be revealed). Sounds like a password or promo code for something.

On the origami on the PerfectFolds twitter page, after blowing it up, it looks like the numbers '3457' are cut off on one of the edges. Also "ption" can be seen, presumably the whole word is option.

Dunno if the word is of any use, but the numbers might be useful later.

Sorry, guess I scanned the previous posts too fast. Saw "hate", missed the numbers.

This is unrelated to the ARG/intereactive game we're discussing here, but since trailers were brought up - did anyone watch the "gameplay" trailer?

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
You watch what is basically an interactive cutscene. A woman snooping around a house and is then attacked by an unknown person, and it flashes up "Triangle" "Circle" etc (except shapes not words) and, presumably if you press them on time, you pull off certain preset moves, like, pushing a table over etc.

To be frank I was unimpressed, I mean, is this gameplay to these people? I am hoping that this was just a demonstration of interactive cutscenes and not the game's main gameplay, because if it is, it looks as though you're watching a movie except every few minutes it'll wake you up to say "Hey, press a few buttons when I tell you."

That was originally a tech demo and will be available as DLC.

But for most scenes you do control your characters movement, but when interacting with other characters or performing actions, you will select what action to perform using the button presses. Heavy Rain is essentially an interactive movie. I cant wait.

On another note, "Four Days" starts up tomorrow! Whoo!

In Quantic Dream's other game Indigo Prophecy (Fahrenheit in the UK), the action scenes required pressing buttons in the correct sequence to escape danger. It appears that Heavy Rain will use the same system.

Possibly, or it could be a hint to run around HOME wearing the t-shirt and pressing the X button.

The killer tweeted this morning. It annoys me that he doesn't use caps.

Also annoying : he kills people :p

Hello by the way, I'm gonna follow this case with you guys Wink

So I thought maybe there was a hint in that way he (or she) only uses some caps... But in the french version he never does...

Also he seems to hate the "big city" and doesn't like capital letters. Maybe it's a way his subconscient tries to tell us he's living in a capital city of some state... and hates it...

Don't know, just waking up... Smile

Are we assuming this is the killer's twitter account because the background image has the word "killer" in its file name? It could be a safe bet, and he's being all angry. but then so are half of my tweets and I've never killed anybody (and don't plan to. Honest).

New tweet, 14 minutes ago: "can't work today feel sick and too angry cant even THINK"

I don't know if this was established or not, but this killer is definetively on Europe - GMT maybe (so is the puppet master team).

Quantic Dream (the developer of Heavy Rain) have their HQ based in France so this could establish their time frame.

Maybe it's worth keeping note of the words he/she highlights in bold, so we have:

DEAD
THINK

EDIT: another tweet: "pick up a copy of the Sentinel today. tell me how it makes you feel"

I hope he's not talking about the Michael Douglas/Kiefer Sutherland movie...

I find it odd that he's not been specific. Sentinal could also refer to a newspaper. A number of towns/cities use this as part of their local paper's name. Do we know what town (fiction or otherwise) Heavy Rain is based in?

EDIT: Heavy Rain is set in a city on the east coast of the US according to this.

States on the East coast of the US:
  • Maine
  • New Hampshire
  • Rhode Island
  • Massachusetts
  • Connecticut
  • Delaware
  • Maryland
  • Virginia
  • Washington DC
  • North Carolina
  • South Carolina
  • Georgia
  • Florida

EDIT 2: Added links to the newspapers. Seems the NC paper has since been renamed. Cannot see anything relevant in these but someone else might. KarlMootman's link may be more promising.
