as far as the first game goes the light house seems to be just that, a lighthouse. not a laser attack system. if this were the case Jack wouldn't have had to hijack the plane he was on and take it down himself.

 		Allow me to explain myself. The reason Jack had to hijack the plane was because... If he had taken boat and killed everyone on it he would know the first second he awoke is that he was responsible. so him hijacking still leads under the illusion that he is just some farm boy. Now what I dont get is why Fontain would make him think this!? DUDE I MEAN if Fontain had said hey kid welcome back. Led him through all of this crap letting him know that he would be at his side when it was over. Then releasing Jack from his mind control and then Fontain would have the most bad ass killer in Rapture as his buisness partner... you know... If not then after Fontain got Jack to put in the key why not just say code yellow right after he did it!? I mean obviously Jack can kill them with ease... After Ryan sends em after you Fontaine would think Jee maybe I should kill him with code yellow right after.... AND ANOTHER THING If Fontain could lock the door so only a little sister could get through why didnt he just shut off the power to the elevator right after you get in so he gets stuck:D You know... For as smart as Fontain thinks he is hes a bit de de deee!!!

Somehow, I don't see Fontaine as the "partner" kind of guy. Yeah, maybe for business, but I don't see him keeping someone around who could potentially overthrow him from his seat of power...
