[PUZZLE]Piecing the .wavs together - leave it to me! As some of you might recall, I've done the first four stories already . With the new wave of axons hot, the second an entire story goes live, it'll be up on my site and ready for download, so there's no need for anyone else to waste time in sound-editing apps for this job.
EDIT - moved from "Urban Hunt - Puzzles" to "Haunted Apiary - Puzzles". The exuberance for wav piecing-together is flooding everywhere! Oooonoooo! Ok, but seriously. Just moved the thread. -SG

Yes, please! I encourage you to put them in audio-cd-playbackable format! I can only play these on m cd player by burning it as a data cd (my cd player can read mps cds) Any way to change them?

you can burn it as an audio cd with real one player. Although the pitch is higher. Making everyone sound like either girls or hamsters.

The "problem" is that the .wav files were made at a sampling frequency of 24kHz. CD format uses a sampling rate of 44.1kHz. That means that if you burn the .wav files as-is, the CD player will play them back at nearly twice the intended speed. In order to be burnable, the .wav files need to be up-sampled to 44.1kHz. This is a fairly simple thing to do if you have an audio editing program, but I'm not sure the required functionality is built into Windows (I'm thinking no).
Ha! I found an easier way to do it, and most of you probably have the software already. If you have a reasonably recent copy of Winamp installed, fire it up and go into the preferences. Look at the list of output plugins - one of them is called DiskWriter. What this does is takes the input file and, instead of playing it, decodes it and writes it out to disk. If you select this plugin and then choose to configure it, you can choose an output directory you like and then make sure you check the Convert to format box. Make sure the info in the box says PCM 44.100kHz, 16 Bit, Stereo. This is the same format CD uses. Then all you have to do is use Winamp to open/play the .wav files and they will be dumped into your output directory in proper, burnable format ('cept for any like key_lime which happen to be reversed). Don't forget to change your output plugin back to directsound or waveout or whichever you prefer once you are done. If you don't, Winamp WILL happily decode and write to .wav any music you try to play if DiskWriter is still selected! Hope this helps

Or just open them in media player and tell it to burn you a CD...

Already found how ot make them CD compatible.
Use Cool Edit.
1 Enter the wAVe in.
2. DELETE the first second or so until the sound begins, the silence. IT has some computer data which renders it not compatible with CD format.
3. select the entire wave
4. CONVERT the wave to 44.1 khz, 16 bit CD format. This can take up to an hour, so be patient.
5,. save copy as an mp3
6. burn to CD and party on!
So far, Max, YOU BE THE MAN in all this audio work. Thankee kindly!

Your splices have been great so far MaxDamage however
In "Transmitiing" meessage on the main page of www.ilovebees.com there is a new link the contains the "official" splices of the first 2 acts.
"...Make you r decisions accordingly."
"While the Queen was distracted, I snuck into her workshop and found these and commandeered them. Commandeered is what I say when I steal something but it's okay.
The Queen's version was all just week+subject stuff, but I gave them chapters and titles like a proper story."

This is true.... You are not on top of your game.
I Downloaded a Free Program from CNET.com called Audacity
It reverse's, splice, trim, cut..... Hell it does it all.
Did I forget to mention that it was free.

As far as I know, Max has everything current, as does the ARGN archive.

Looks like we still need combined versions of:
Phase 4: Kamal (dark_genius to so_dense)
Phase 5: Jan (one_point_oh to bang)
Phase 5: Jersey (on_reach to by_accident)
I think the 4B-Kamal file in the argn archive is mislabelled. It's actually the Phase5 section that's been uploaded.
We also still need a couple of the GrumpyOldMan sections of the story, but we don't have the wavs yet.

Gah! Thanks for pointing those out. I'd messed up somewhere in the upload.
Everything should be current and in order now.
