[META] About to_do.wav

This is out of game but I would just like to express my feelings after listening to to_do.wav
Though it was just voice acting and completely fictional, it was very difficult to listen to that sound bit. I felt very uneasy and uncomfortable from that wav. Don't know if anyone else out there feels the same.

I agree it was disturbing.

I also feel that there was ample warning in the transcripts so that those who would be offended would think twice about listening.

First let me say, what they intended us to think of is very disturbing. I think it was to justify the cop killing the boyfriend. After all, they intended us to hear the boyfriend (literally) grilling his girlfriend.

After something like that, you don't feel sorry for the boyfriend getting "face holed" at all.

However, I think it sounds like someone spanking their leg and eggs cooking myself.

I'm displaying an unusual show of tact by not being medical in my description of my tests below and the wav file under discussion.

I invite you to try what I did:

With the flat of your palm, smack your leg (bare skin). Now smack your rear end (yes, bare skin Twisted Evil ). Now make a fist and hit your leg. They are all distinct sounds. The sounds used in the clip were all the same. More snap like when you slap your leg.

Next, cook eggs, cook bacon, heat an empty pot on high for 1.5-2 minutes, then pour water in it and listen to the water evaporate. Bacon crackles as the fat burns off, eggs and water are more "water evaporating" sounds than anything else. I think it sounds more like eggs myself.

The sound clip was very graphic because it was supposed to show us how it changed Jan's mind. This is an alternate reality game though, making a statement that the clip is graphic, wouldn't really fit in with the games reality. So just calm your minds by understanding that there wasn't really being a girl being hurt in that sound file, just a voice actress who is probably being paid somewhat well.

that's true, i mean it is fictional and for entertainment purposes only for the sake of our ARG. Hearing it just brought back stuff. It made me uncomfortable; something that I couldn't help but react to in such a way.

questions:
did the guy KILL his girlfriend? if he killed her, you'd think the police would just arrest him, due process and all that
if he didn't kill her, then why didn't she press charges for what he did? maybe he just burned her, then did the whole "i'm sorry baby, let me buy you a 26th century quick-skin-graft if you promise not to tell anyone" (domestic violence often has such abuse-and-make-up cycles)
who was ghosting him? stupid_cop's buddy/the girl's father? it was a video, not cp, was it a hidden camera?

probably not important to the storyline, but i'd like to know nonetheless
