[SPEC]Durga/Jersey/Sleeping Princess

If the characters in the .wav files could be an entity in ILB, Durga would
clearly be the Sleeping Princess.

1. She has no idea who she is. Just like SP.
2. She can fend off Navy Sentinels. Like SP with the PF.
3. She likes to find things and show off that she knows them. Just like SP.
4. She wants to know who she is. Just like SP.
5. Knowing that SP is Durga doesn't bring us any closer to knowing
who SP is.

To have an accurate timeline, we have to keep in mind that the events
in the .wav files happen before the ship wreck NOT after ILB.

Keeping that in mind, Jersey's father fears for the safety of his son and
brings him aboard his ship. Jersey ofcourse brings Durga. Where to keep
her? How about the shipboard systems? The Operator may not be a
smart A.I. and Durga obviously is. Durga can atleast hide in the system.
Just like SP in the Castle. So, when the Operator is telling the Captain
that there is possibly an unknown intrusion, that's Durga.

Something happens. The ship wrecks and Durga goes with it. Having
already "crashed" into a system, and surviving, Durga directs them into
another. ILB.

The popular [Spec] is that the PF is the intrusion but we might need to
keep an open mind as more info is revealed.

Perhaps the arrival of the PF (or a three way A.I. battle royal) is what
causes the accident.

There's my two cents, let's hear yours.

Yeah, but the Sleeping Princess doesn't chant "survive evade resist escape". She says stuff like "The Queen is very serious and I am not; She makes me giggle!"

She's also very talented, but isn't very tactically minded like Durga. She just sorta fakes her way through most situations.

True. That, ofcouse, feels like a bursted bubble.

The only thing that could save me, in this, is if something drastic happens
to Durga between meeting Jersey and ILB.

And by the way, how many A.I.s with amnesia are running around this
fictional universe?
As it is, I count one around every corner. They just have to start designing
these things better. Wink

How can those AIs have amnesia? If their memory crystal breaks or surgecially erased, it's all over. And supposedly AI last for about 7 years, cuz by then, they've absorbed so much information, they go rampant thinking themselves to death. The other option was introduced in 'First Strike' when Cortana disassembled the Covenant AI and discovered its duplicating software. She dupped herself and that copy dupped itself as well. But there were errors found as well with each dupping. So each copy degrated by each copy. Random information missing and/or lost per copy.

Possibly the AIs are being transferred from their "memory crystals" into either Jersey's, or Dana's harddrives. Durga remarks that whatever she is in feels much smaller, and could be a reason for her forgetting some things, but that is further into the future and his drive is probably much larger than present day systems. And Dana probably has a very small harddrive, which is why Melissa has probably lost so much being crammed on there.

That could be one possibility. Also, if I remember correctly, Dr. Hasley was able to erase Cortana's memory about a conversation she had with her. Cortana had absolutely no recollection (Please correct me if I'm a little off!).

[SPEC]Maybe someone intentionally erased the data that was retrived by these AI's because they knew found something that no one else should know about.

[SPEC](Yes, I know this is redundant, but allow me to finish)

The idea of a seven year life-span on rampant (intelligent) AI's is a definite HALO universe device. Having been a spin from the Marathon Universe, there is somethng that is floating around here, sparked off by an earlier comment about erasing AI memory. In Marathon, the protagonist in Rampancy, Durandal, had been rampant for a while on Mars, and then pretty much erased so he could be reinserted in the Marathon's ship systems.

Is it not possible then for a Rampant AI to start deleting parts of itself to prolong it's lifespan. By eliminating information it's absorbed, it should be slightly dumbed down about certain things, but it's capacity to learn is still there, thus it's lifespan could theoretically be increased in this manner.
This having been said, the SP wasn't imprisoned willingly, it was forceful, so maybe the Operator knew how to splice down intelligent AI's.

This would also explain why the SP is very un-tactically minded, as if her tactical memories had been fully purged, or even mostly purged and overwritten by new stimuli, then she would be a very different character. (Also, that would help explain hwy she can wing it so successfully when time-honoured tradition demands she fail occasionally... her remnants of tactical processes are moulding what she does without her realising it...)

Ok, this is pure spec, so bring on the rebuttals! Laughing

Quick rebuttal: You're confusing terms. Rampancy and a seven-year life span are not found in the same AI. AIs with seven-year life spans don't go rampant; over the course of seven years they think so much that they strangle themselves with data. Rampancy is a form of insanity for AIs; if an AI is rampant it should be deleted for its own sake and the good of every human involved.

Ture

I agree with Platonix, the 7 year life span and Rampancy are two different things. The three stages of Rampancy according to Bungie are Melancholia, Anger, and Jealousy. Read more http://marathon.bungie.org/story/counterattack.html#3 Scroll down to the "Defend THIS! Terminal 2" section and read about the rampancy straight from Bungie.

Note: These are screenshots take directly from the Mararhon 1 game.
