Looking around the blog and noticed some small text in the banner image, aligned vertically along the left edge. Thought it might be a clue. Magnified it in Photoshop and got "Carter, any use is subject to the artist's prior consent. Unauthorized use". Guess that can be discounted as being of use!

As for the picture...

After the word "renew" I have

"this home is a very hospitable and generous one."
"progress and competition"
"here there is nothing of any interest" or "child dies"
"take this road, it's better"

Still looking for the rest. Takes time and have to go to work in a little bit.

EDIT: First symbol is the sign for Pluto. Can also mean "death and rebirth, total transformation, atomic energy, ruthlessness, dictatorships, large organizations and competition". The next one is infinity. The next means "the choice between good and evil". I'm going to assume that the next two make "come face" or "come face to face" or "come see" or "come open your eyes".

Working on the rest.

I wonder if the choice of name for her blog is a coincidence or if this old painting by Camille Corot (or information about that artist) could shed some light on things?

Just a thought: Gretel mentions a "Stephen" and I jumped to Alice Cooper's "Steven," a man with all sorts of sanity and satan issues, as well as the mentality of a young boy.
