I have been desperately wanting to get back into the ARG world, so here goes! I'm going to make this game a goal - to finish all ten missions and follow the story all the way through from beginning to end.

Hi, Rose! It's been forever since we've run into each other. Smile I haven't been posting at all, either. It's nice to see you again! And hi to all the folks I haven't met before. I look forward to collaborating with you!

According to the blog, there are over 20 clues in the trailer regarding the Evoke network: "where it goes, how it works, who it helps, and the problems it solves." There are other clues about the future 2020 reality in Episode 1 (the comic), and another blog entry has a series of pertinent links in the form of questions.

Also, love the name of the company in Kenya - "Happiness Honey Collective". Very Happy <3 Jane.

A few ideas

Just throwing a few ideas out before we get started,

From the blog they give us these hints (it also has links to articles for them)

1. Is Japan really going to face a food crisis?
2. What's "food security"?
3. What avatar technology is Alchemy using?
4. Where does Ember teach?
5. What could cause a global mass migration in the future?
6. What's a Harajuku girl?
7. What is Citizen Journalism?
8. Where is Eureka working?
9. Where is Quinn working?
10. What happened to the honeybees?
11. What's causing the Tokyo "mini-greenhouse" effect?
12. What's that small, cube-shaped satellite watching over Tokyo?
13. How could someone launch their own cube satellite?

Also probably not clues but in the attached image are the skills they expect us to learn/use. I think as a group we probably already use quite a few of them.

I'm definitely in.

*puts on super world saving super suit*

Also love the ILoveBees ref! Razz

I'm fingercombing the trailer.

So far we know it's a network working on the world's problems....when a country needs help they send out an EVOKE.

4. Ember teaches at University of Legon, Ghana.

10. Honeybees are dying out due to a virus/pest that was killing them off. I watched a doc on it.

Is it just me or does the certain comic style seem a little Heroes-esque?

We could try to find those clues, but at this point I'm a bit oblivious to how they should help us in the tasks to come, and first of all what clues we are looking for.

If you guys want to work together though, it might be nice to exchange some contact info like AIM, Messenger or Email.

The trailer sure seems to give more questions than answers.

So, my 2 cents were: if the Evoke org is been working for the past 10 years, what might be the problems it solved in this period of time? In the trailer we see:
-Tokyo (of course)
-Rio de Janeiro
-Hollywood (burning?)
-Africa (very vaguely, we know about one member working in CapeTown and another teaching in Ghana uni)
-plus! at 00:29 there's a red circle on a world map whose location I couldn't identify... anyone?

That's Tokyo. The blue is land and the green is sea, once you see it that way you'll see the standard world map in it immediately.

Another thing, anyone any clue what the location is the trailer starts in? (at 0:01, with sort of radio/television tower)

Edit: Citizen X from the comic is both a movie about a russian serial killer and this american blog: http://www.adventuresofcitizenx.com/
I think the Citizen X from Tokyo can be compared to the american guy, being an anonymous citizen with a critical view on national governement, and posting about it on the internet.

It looks like the CN Tower in Toronto.

I found out that they wanted to sell it to balance their books!

Definitely not the CN tower... It seems like a simple radio tower. Doesn't have the base width of the CN tower and doesn't look anywhere near as high.

My first reaction to that image is its the BT tower in London, UK.

Would make sense for a secret location, was deemed not to exist until the 90's. Its the only building in the UK to have a lift and no stairs, which means the lift is the fire exit. Also it was designed to survive a nuclear blast so that UK communication's could still function, (never understood what they would do about the EMP blast though)

It's very similar to the BT tower indeed. I looked on it in Google Earth but the buildings around it are completely different, I'm particularly interested in the park just next to it. There seems to be a small park near the BT tower but not as big and without water.

I believe it is this one:

Quote:
The Hillbrow Tower is a tall tower located in the suburb of Hillbrow in Johannesburg, South Africa. Construction for the tower began in June 1968 and was completed three years later in April 1971. Construction cost Rand 2 million[1] (USD 330,000, though at the time around four million USD) and produced the 269 metre (882 feet) tower that stands today. The tower was initially known as the JG Strijdom Tower after JG Strijdom, the South African Prime Minister from 1954 to 1958. On May 31, 2005 it was renamed the Telkom Joburg Tower.[3]

The tower was constructed for what became Telkom, South Africa's largest telecommunications company. As the general height of buildings rose in the central business district, it was necessary that the new telephone tower had to stay above the general height of the tallest building.

The Hillbrow Tower has been closed for visitors since 1981 for security reasons. However, before the closure, the tower was one of the largest tourist draws in Johannesburg. At the top of the tower, above 131 metres, there were six public floors. One of them housed a revolving restaurant named Heinrich's Restaurant. There was another, non-rotating restaurant known as the Grill Room.

Checked it on Google Earth and looks about right. Features match.

In case you want to check it out yourself.

Nice one! It looks like we have a match.

I also noticed at 00:14 a license plate of a car (in Africa?) is visible:
UAD 760Z

EDIT: a flag (?) is visible on the left at 00:08

could that give us some hints? (since we have nothing better to do until 3rd of March Very Happy )

EDIT: at 00:14 along with the license plate we see at the top the banner of a company "city tyres" that seems to be "Uganda's leading tyre Company" (thanks google). But if you look at Uganda's license plates on the net none would reproduce the same three letters at the beginnings: UAD (visible also on another license plate on the right at about 00:14-00:16.
