Bah, this is just the seconds digit area is partially covered by the 'thousands of frames' digit area.

Also, on a somewhat off topic note: did anybody else sit on the edge of their seat the first time, waiting for really loud audio interference to cut in? The gentle background noise had exactly the opposite effect of being soothing!

Dear god yes! I always watch MH entries twice, once low and straight through, second time louder and ready to pause at distortion.

SPOILER?? Is this taboo? Actor's comment on Facebook...
Sorry if this is breaking rules.

This brings in a statement by an actor from Marble Hornets that may be a kind of underhanded comment on the swing of the MH story lately. Please don't read if this kind of thing would offend or bother you!
GnomonRose
Spoiler (Rollover to View):

One of the key actors in Marble Hornets (I mean, the RL actor) has posted an interesting comment at FaceBook, not about MH directly, but very curious in the MH context:

"Bender's Big Score is by far the best Futurama movie. I really, really, really hate time travel though."

Nooooowww....

This could be entirely unrelated. However, this is closely after Entry #24 and may be VERY related.

Could this be his tangential way to protest the use of a time travel ploy in MH?? Maybe he is actually trying to spoil a surprise, or sabotage it in other words, by kvetching about time travel as a weak plot idea?

In which case, should we be giving time travel theories here a more serious try--to figure out how time travel could be used to explain some mysteries? It also feels like this is a new sort of feeling to him; maybe that was NOT the original idea, but as people have been saying, they may have run out of ideas (this is so many months later, and this is running far longer than other ARGs!), and a time travel plot was fixed upon by the PM as a way to kind of explain or to further mystify the story so far.

Or maybe this is a rupture of the rules, if any...and I'm thinking about it way too much. Many apologies if so.

And anyway, he's wrong;
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
"Bender's Game" is the best one.

Related idea--"Deluge" and MH Actor
another whoops?

Possibly spoilerish.

The totheark video "Deluge"...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
is almost like the last name of the actor who plays Mr. Kralie.

Is it possibly partly an in-joke?

Good call. I feel rather stupid now. And I didn't sit on the edge of my seat, I turn the audio down the first time through. After that I gradually build it up. Which makes me feel a little stupider. Just not having a good day.

Sorry Celtic, didn't mean to make you feel dumb. :c It was just a question that kept popping up.

*sends hugs and key lime pie*

Gnomon, you do have a point. I don't know the actor all that well, but from what he's posted since I friended him, he just seems to be the kind of person who likes to make vaguely biting remarks. Keeping in mind that he's not an Unfiction native so the rules that apply here may not apply for these guys; heck, Jay was posting on the Something Awful forums there for a little while. Doesn't seem like anyone's seen him for a while though. XD

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
My first guess would be that Alex-mun is bitching about how it's a stupid plot device because he just doesn't like seeing the stupid lack of consistency with how paradoxes are handled. XD On the one hand it could mean that he's underhandedly telling us to lay off on the idea. On the other it could be that he's implying "dude, if I were in charge of a story using time travel it wouldn't be stupid and full of plot holes so there!"

In any case I don't think that we should look too hard at it. They have been running pretty long and hard on this story, if anything I would see it as him rolling his eyes and tutting at us folks who are latching onto and focusing on what he thinks is an outrageous conclusion. Razz

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
And just visiting his page to see what you were talking about, I didn't realize that so many people blather right on his wall. Lol, wtf, fans... then again I've always figured that Facebook is for having a space for your old school acquaintances, employers, and parents to keep up with you. Seems weird to use a 'this is me!' page for fans also. Alex-mun and Jay-mun ought to make a fan page for themselves or something.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Your injokes are HORRIBLE PUNS and should be SEVERELY PUNISHED. XD (And by that I mean that I laughed and groaned. Bad Gnomon, bad!

Sorry, Dray; that's the way my mind works, and it sometimes is useful in these sorts of situations too. However, I did not intend that in-joke as a pun per se; it's just that the two words in question are only one letter apart, is all...
And yes, I have to admit that I like the term "goners" for that group; they need a handle anyway, since they're a specific group that have the "gone"ness in common, and this seems a suitable way to refer to them.

If you want wordplay, though. . .

Entry #21's
subtitle

The subtitle for Entry #21 is "1 of 2." However, there is no second part, unless he means the next entry, but it's not "2 of 2." Should we be waiting for another shoe to drop? There's no clear indication that the footage of Entry #21 is incomplete in the sense that there was more that happened to Jay while he was out at the Tower.
Another loose end there, which seems to be partly forgotten these days, is that hole in the ground that caused audio distortion. Why did Jay focus on that hole in the first place; could he hear something with the 'naked ear' there? I had thought the audio distortion was wholly something that happened to the media equipment, not something you could see or hear with the plain senses, unless he was going around with earphones plugged in...???

That is, is there something special about the places where SM was seen before, and the other places that have been marked with the Operator sign, and such, including that hole? Perhaps something is buried there, killed by Slender Man? Is that odd circular building SM's previous hideout? There was distortion in #22; was SM nearby? Or is there "Slendy residue" there that caused interference? I think that Jay could profit somewhat by returning to the hole, the tower, and such.

Hey, just got another notion; new post coming up again!! Tally-ho!

Still lovin' this game, or experience. . . .

Songs of Innocence; Songs of Experience
but not Blake's!~

The main 'suspects' in this story are all very young people--the age of my own students, viz. around 20, I think.
Isn't it odd that these youngsters (no offense, kids!) (hee hee hee, I offend while apologizing, bad me!) seem to make much use of media that few young people know, such as music from the first half of the 20th century, a movie from 1966, and such? Well, maybe not much more than that, but still...

Indeed, these young people seem strangely family-free. No parents, siblings, even a family home... Jay does not even think to ask Alex's parents where he has moved to. Odd, I feel; I did not get the feeling that this is a college campus or that they were in dorms or such. These were their regular homes, I assumed. Perhaps wrongly.

But anyway, who is leading them to these old things? Or is it just that these supernaturally-influenced people are drawn to public domain things so they won't be sued? Or that as film students (J and Alex at least) they have an interest in old media?

Or is a more mature individual involved too??

My dad, who grew up in the 1940s, listened to the marching music but does not know what it is. . .

On a side note, those screen caps of Jay are great; to me, now, the dark circles under Jay's eyes look less like makeup and more like sleeplessness making itself manifest. Very nice capture; I failed to get a real good look at Jay dazed on the floor (Jay was on the floor, not me!)
Best to you all.

Perhaps this is more apt for the TTA thread, and maybe this is old territory, but here goes:
(inspired by an episode of House)

If we can look at time travel as a legit way of solving problems can we fill the gaps as such.

Is it at all possible that J and TTA are the same person? That TTA is the subconscious of J or perhaps some entity folded into his being (following the "you are my Ark" thinking) That his posts are made in an attempt to answer his own questions, filling in the gaps because he himself already has all the footage, audio, what-have-you to make sense of it all, but his rational self can't tease out the answers because of fear, anger, SM's memory magic, [insert crazy theory here].

J's baggy eyes occur because TTA takes over when he would be asleep.
He could very well have used his Teleporting/time-bending instances to actually have filmed himself in some occurrences.
This creates a far more virulent character in Masky, who wouldn't be able to be TTA.
And let's face it, he is OPERATING the camera in the vast majority of the video we've seen.

Also it just seems like one of those twist-turn endings something like this would have... Wink

Why marching band music, a sailor (in TTA's video), and Pearl Harbor footage nonsense (in Messages)?

I'm grasping to connect how that relates to the series. It's obviously in there, but what does it have to do with Marble Hornets? In the actual script, is it a story about 'Brian' coming back from a stint of duty to his home town and getting trapped in an unhappy cycle, maybe? o_o In #20, Jay and Alex chatter:

Jay wrote:
"That's a whole lot of hell to give someone like him"

Alex wrote:
"Yeah, uh, pretty much everyone's at risk. It's, uh, a terrifying place -- and there's Tim, so..."

Is that referring to Brian's character going through some horrible experience while away on duty?

I apologize if this has been discussed at length already, but it's really the only reason that I can think of this whole navy business being important. Well, aside from some rather hilarious conjecture involving hiding in and coming out of closets and devilishly handsome anonymous looking men.... >_> <_< Laughing Wink

lol. Alex's Facebook comment is sort of an obvious jab towards MH and what's going on right now. Or, it's possible he's subtly discouraging the time-travel theory by saying that he hates it and it's something they wouldn't do.

Who knows.

I sent totheark a Youtube message asking about the significance of the music. I'm sure someone else has probably asked TTA similar questions, but I figured it was worth a try and I'd like to get some sort of absurdly cryptic answer from him.

To add a bit more to the marching band music. This is a before and after frame from TTA's Attention response. If you rewatch the video, you will see this frame flash right before it goes to "Return to us".

The guy in the middle looks like the conductor while the guy to the right of him looks to have some sort of instrument in his mouth.
