pluck

pluck not capitalized means pick or snatch. I could have sworn Pluck was a minor Shakespear sprite but this is what I found instead,

from a Winter's tale.

ACT II. SCENE I.
A prospect of a Shepherd's cottage.
Enter Florizel and Perdita:
Florizel.
These your unusual weeds, to each part of you
Do give a life; no shepherdess but Flora,
Peering it April's front, this your sheep-shearing,
Is a meeting of the petty gods,
And you the queen on't.

Perdita.
Sir, my gracious Lord,
To chide at your extreams it not becomes me:
O pardon that I name 'em; your high self,
The gracious mark o' th' land; you have obscur'd
With a swain's wearing; and me, poor lowly maid,
Most goddess-like prank'd up: but that our feasts
In every mess have folly, and the feeders
Digest it with a custom, I shou'd blush
To see you so attired; sworn, I think,
To shew myself a glass

Twenty bucks says you're thinking of Puck -- a.k.a. Robin Goodfellow -- the mischief-maker from A Midsummer Night's Dream. Mr. Green

Everything I learned about Shakespear, I learned by watching Disney's Gargoyles Very Happy

The Queen wants to smother me. The Queen wants to lock me up. And I am not her daughter. And I am not her daughter. I'm a lot older than I look, Angela. That's not something I remember, that's something I just know. I'm older than the Flea and I'm older than the Queen and it was bad day for them when the coffin cracked and I got out because I'm never going back there again. I'm a survivor I play to win and I will die before I go back again.
That screams angry, perhaps rampant Forerunner AI to me... Definitely something both Melissa AND a Covie AI as the flea would want to keep down.

I'm one of those non-Halo playing bastards, so I wouldn't know, but do Forerunner AI usually get wistful about people to love them? That struck me as a very human thing.

Some ideas

1. The balloons are information packets. Analysing them is time consuming and leads her - Perdita- astray.

2. All we know about the Sleeping Princess is what it has told us about itself. No doubt it is complex, no doubt it can manipulate things for it's own survival. But we have no frame of reference in which to discern whether it is truthful about itself. Why is it interested in telling us about Melissa? Clearly they are in an adversarial relationship. The secret information it is giving us about Troy--where does that come from? Assuming all the .wavs are information from Durga to Melissa, why is some information given to the "crew" and some not?

First wild unfounded specs:
Glass_Eater = Aiden
Broken Lady = Sophia
Electric Weasels = Kamal & Hiroyuki

Actually I was thinking along these lines:

Glass Eater = SP (She did escape from a glass coffin)
Broken Lady = Melissa (Self explanatory)
Electric Weasels = SPDR and Pious Flea (both seem to be fairly low level programs compared to SP and Melissa and not well liked)

We may be reading too much into all of this.

Having said that:
Tin-Cutter is also a programming logic puzzle:

The balloon metaphor only makes sense for SP if she's leaving these ballons while she's already on her way home.

They are something she's picking up on her way into this predicament, and something she's dropping off on her way out.

[SPEC] Perhaps the recipe3 files are the balloons. The first clip might correspond to her arriving in earth orbit onboard the Apocalypso. For this to make sense she'd have to have already collected all the balloons before she starts to leave her trail, and now we are just picking up the start of the trail.

The part that doesn't work is that she wouldn't be stuck if she was already on her way home, and leaving a trail.

[More SPEC] Perhaps the trail is being left by someone else, maybe in the form of the audio files again, and we need to tell her (how) to follow them home.

Or the balloons could be the killer.jpg files. They have text in them that leads to the new axons. It could just be a hint for the current puzzle.

[WILD SPEC] Perdita's Story

Get ready for some wild and crazy SPEC here. We all know the PMs are reading the forums. I think this whole story is an answer to the "Is this ARG or ARS?" thread. Before the story even starts she answers that question. This is not a game, it's a story.

Perdita is us. Her family are the PMs. The Circus is I Love Bees. The Glass-Eater is SP. The Broken Lady is Melissa. The Electric Weasels are SPDR and Pious Flea. The Balloons are our desires about the game. The balloon colors, blood red, firelight-on-steel, and green of a heaving sea represent Blood, Sweat, and Tears respectfully. Blood, Sweat, and Tears meaning the time and energy we've invested into the game.

Quote:
Perdita's Story

Chapter 1: The Circus

Once upon a time there was a little girl named Perdita, who lived with her father, her mother, and her brother in a little cottage in a big city. Her father was only a humble tin-cutter, and her mother's fingers were stained with rust from working in a ball-bearing factory, but Perdita was famous for miles around because of her extraordinary beauty. She was not a bad girl, but she was very vain, and spent hours every day preening in front of her mirror.

We're Perdita. Her family are the PMs. We're not bad people, but we're over confident. All that talk about how the cloudchasers solved all the puzzles from the Beast in 15 and half seconds at the begining of the game.

Quote:
One day, the Circus came to town. The father decided to take the whole family there, even though they didn't have very much money. So off they went to see the Glass-Eater and the Broken Lady and the Electric Weasels for which this particular circus was known.

I Love Bees is the Circus. The game started off with a fairly limited budget. The Glass-Eater is the SP, the Broken Lady is Melissa, and the Electric Weasels are SPDR and Pious Flea.

Quote:
After the Glass Eater had spat out his last bottle of the afternoon, but before the Weasels were due to arrive in their famous Luminous Barouche, Perdita saw a balloon salesman selling beautiful bouquets of balloons. The balloons came in extraordinary colors—firelight-on-steel was one, the green of a heaving sea another. Perdita was fondest of the red ones: cheerful balls of bright blood red with long strings that bounced and tugged up against your hand exactly like hope.

After the SP escaped from the glass coffin, but before SPDR and Pious Flea really got up to speed. Probably around the "widow story" time we were SPECing like crazy. We put a lot of Blood, Sweat, and Tears into the game. The balloons are our desires about how we hope the game will be. Notice how they tug against your hand just like hope.

Quote:
As soon as Perdita saw them, she knew she had to have some.

We we wanted the game our way.

Quote:
She begged and she wheedled until her family came over, but the balloons were very expensive. Finally her brother said he would use his allowance to buy her some, and the jolly salesman (whose face was as round and red as one of his balloons) said she could have a whole bouquet on account of she was so beautiful, and she could choose exactly whichever ones she wanted.

They talked someone into increasing the budget (bungie? MS?) so they could make some puzzles for us. We were happy.

Quote:
So Perdita began choosing her most favorite red balloons. But she was so vain, and so particular, and so slow about it, that finally her father said the rest of the family was going to see more of the Circus. Perdita was to follow the balloon salesman on his rounds. When it was time to go, the family would look for the red balloons and come and get her.

We were focused so hard on the puzzles that maybe we missed some other aspect of the site they wanted us to see. So they moved on, but we didn't.

Quote:
But by the time she finished making her choices, she realized that the salesman had traveled far, far away from the fairgrounds. Clutching her bouquet of balloons, Perdita ran and ran all the way back to the Circus, but when she got there the grounds were empty and the gates were shut.

By the time we solved all the puzzles it didn't look like much was going on back at the site.

Quote:
She was alone.

What do we do now.

Quote:
How silly I have been! she said to herself, blinking back her tears. I took so long picking out my balloons my family got tired of me and left! And now I don't know where the balloon man is either! And thinking this, she sat down at the circus gate and cried a little cry.

We spent so much time focused on puzzles, Axons specifically by this point, we didn't notice that for those two weeks the PMs had not given us any new puzzles and had moved on to setting up the phone booth scavenger hunt.

Quote:
As the sun went down, she saw that the circus was not in the very nicest part of town, and she felt sure it would be a bad idea to spend the night there. She could just hear the crunch-crunch of the Glass Eater having dinner, and it gave her the shivers.

We start thinking maybe this isn't the game we hyped it up to be, we want wonderfully puzzles and all we get is a lowly scavenger hunt (bad part of town). The little riddles the SP starts putting out bother us because they're too simple and don't satisfy.

Quote:
Besides being very beautiful and rather vain, Perdita was a brave and resourceful girl. She decided she would find her own way home, even though she wasn't quite sure how to get back to the humble tin-cutter's cottage.

We'll keep playing this game anyway and make the most of it.

Quote:
But Perdita thought, what if my father or my mother or my brother comes to look for me? I know: I will leave a trail of red balloons so when they come back here, they can follow me. I will start walking, walking, walking for home, and every few blocks I will tie a red balloon to something I pass, so they can see where I have gone.

But we can't just be satisfied to let the game unfold the way the PMs planned it. We'll leave little thought ballons behind for the PMs to find so that they can follow us to where we think the game should be.

Quote:
And this she did.

and we did.

So what does everyone think? Am I being to cynical? Reading way to much into it?
