Man, I hope Dray is right and Jay's finally getting off his ass and actually trying to out-wit TTA/Masky. Or at least preparing himself for some sort of epic finale type deal. (I'm getting the vibe MH might end around entry #30...) It'd suck if Slendy showed up at his door for a free-for-all showdown and Jay was just blubbering in the corner with a teddy bear or something.

And I think he's done enough wandering around in the dark and getting the bejesus scared out of him. He needs to track down Tim again, and Brian and Sarah and Seth, too, if he can. We need more character interaction when one of them isn't behind a mask. It'd at least be a change of pace.

Speaking of, I think Sarahs disappearence is even weirder than Brians. I mean people actually were like "oh hey, where'd Brian go?" but Sarah's just like "poof." Everyone else has been acknowledged or on camera when they were last seen. ("Seth!") It probably just means she's not important to the plot, but I just thought it was sort of weird. Maybe both her and Brian are dead?

I keep thinking that it will end sooner. Hoping that they carry it on for a full year because that would be pretty epic... but not counting on it at this point. Jay's (hopefully) at the lowest point of the low. I agree that some more character interaction would go a long way to answering our questions -- where is everyone, why is Tim the only one (that we know of) who is still around... and in that case why is Jay around still? He just seems like he's at the point of either disappearing entirely or rallying...

Hopefully rallying!

When's the last time that we see Sarah? She's talking in the field "omg, who is that guy~?", she's in the gazebo and she's presumably in the back of the car with Brian and Alex. Hard to say if the gazebo came first or the car... though I'd say the car, since Brian seems to go missing fairly soon, and you'd think that Alex would want to start filming with his buddy vs. with some dude with jealousy-inducing sideburns.

The blood splashes could be from her OR Brian, who knows. o_o Of course, that's assuming that they're not belonging to some unnamed victim. I'm just trying to tie in loose ends!

Haha oh man.

Though, speaking of bullets, wasn't the tower full of a bunch of bullethole-like holes? When I saw them the first time I watched the entry, the first thing I thought of was an episode of CSI where some guys twirled an automatic gun around a pole while playing dodgebullet. The crime scene looked like the walls of the tower.

Eh. The holes are probably something else, and this is probably made of trout and fail. Still reminds me of CSI, though. :3

Also, this debate is going on in two places at once. It should be in the game discussion thread.

Oh hey, so it is.

Merged.

My first thought, too, though it's more likely a climbing wall, minus climbing rocks.

I don't know why everyone keeps saying those are bullet holes in the tower... They look way too neat and clean and orderly for that! I think it's just the way the tower's built, probably to stop the wind from pushing it over or something?

(Although I totally remember that episode of CSI, haha. T'was a good one.)

A handful of thoughts that have been kicking around in my head:

- It's widely believed in many superstitions that ghosts and other malevolent spirits cannot cross running water. Not sure if that makes much of a difference with Slendy (and the water featured mostly not being running), but there you go.

- The bullet casing that J picks up looks much too large to be from a common semi-automatic handgun round. It looks closer to a rather powerful revolver round, possibly a .357 Magnum. If it is a revolver round, that negates the possibility that someone simply took a shot and left the casing behind- revolvers do not eject spent brass automatically.

- The blood in the sink looks as though it was ejected forcefully, by the way it was sprayed across the inside. My tenative theory is that someone ran into the bathroom bleeding from the mouth and literally coughed (or vomited... yuck) a considerable amount of blood into it. Judging by the dryness and color (very old blood turns a deep crimson), it would have been in the space of a day to a week or so before J got there.

O_O That needs to be an artsy comic/TTA thing. Gross!

(actually I was kind of thinking that, too. >_>)

Re: the bullet casing, maybe Masky just likes to collect shiny things? Razz

Also, about the running water... it'd be an interesting inclusion. And might help explain why everything seems so calm and un-glitchy when Jay's wandering around by the river in #21? X3

I've heard the running water myth before, but Slenderman doesn't strike me as a malevolent spirit, exactly?

And now I'm tempted to draw projectile blood vomiting Alex/Tim/Brian/Whoever floats your boat... That would kinda freak me out and crack me up to draw, at the same time. XD

I'll be honest here. If I was in the place of Jay I would be noticing that when I do nothing I fucking end up stalked and traveling through portals.

And so I would go all "WAITING F0R Y0U, TTA. ARE Y0U AFRAID 0F ME?" and take my luck with him cosidering TTA, must be a human and therfore killable. xD

ANYWHO.

Onto the theory.

I am starting to think that this whole puzzle makes more sense when TTA and Masky are not the same person, nor besties.

I think TTA is a tool of masky. So therefore, I think that TTA can be anyone.

This includes Jay.

What would this mean? Simple enough, when Jay becomes puppet like he then is teleported to work on footage and upload a response to his own video.

Masky can be anyone at this point. And there can be more than one masky.

Now this would explain how Jay got the footage he had it in the first place, secondly the rest of the footage is handed to him by one of the maskys.

Makes enough sense out of the whole mocking of "warning" as his videos get's more Jay-like.

Now this only leaves a question, why? Well as it has been said, slenderman may need to be spread further to grow in strength and planning to use Jay from the start, and using alex and co. To give Jay a reason to act.

Basically at the start of this all, entry #1, slenderman seemed like a human enough, as entry 23 was posted and Jay faced slendy the static was unberable.

So tl;dr: Slendy is using Jay, Jay is TTA, Masky can be maskies. And it doesn't really matter who Masky is at this point in time.

Just triying to think outside the box.

This leaves only a question.

I apologize if this doesn't belong in trailhead, but I am trying to mentally disprove the teleportation theory, replacing it with the Slendy is established to mess with equipment and it could all be a tape jump... rather than a body jump" In entry 23, as he is bouncing form room to room, the level of light in the house changes, suggesting the passing of time. And in the most recent entry, the door trick could easily be a looped camera feed trick, a-la SPEED. Are there any reported instance of teleportation that prove it is instant / couldn't be a camera malfunction / slendermess?

To me, it looks a lot more like an old rock climbing tower that had the footholes and pegs removed, leaving only the drilled holes in the wood frame. That would fit with the "used to train firemen here" evidence too.

Edit - didn't see your entry, Dray. Great minds...

I thank you so very VERY much. I could NEVER believe in Jay being "teleported". It sounded too....well, stupid for this great web series.

Couple of observations I've gathered after watching a few videos again:
1. In TTA's "Warning" there are written words (presumably from TTA/Masky - if they're the same).
'The following are raw footage excerpts from Alex Kralie'
'Eyes Open' (Stay) (Home)
(Be) (Alone)
'Smile for the Camera'
'Regards *underlying sigma symbol*

The thing that caught my eye is the last message 'Regards'. Compare the strokes of the writing utensil in the messages before it. The latter are rather quick and "confident". The 'Regards' paper looks like the writer had trouble keeping his/her hand steady, possibly from a coughing fit?

2. Wherever the SM doll seems to be lying, is where Jay tends to end up.
Take for example entry 18 where Jay revisits the house. He finds the SM doll at the base of the front door. Where as in TTA's Return, Jay is seen lying at the same corner.

Then there is Entry 23. Although the SM doll stays in the upstairs hallway, Jay is teleported (or w/e) back to that same area after reopening the doors.

Sorry, but I still don't understand

who/what is a "phone"? Is there something I missed in the entries?

All of this business with Masky and TTA being bad guys. I don't buy it.

For one, Masky only tackled Jay the once. He obviously had more opportunities to take down our hapless protagonist, but every other time we've seen him he's been avoidant. I read that first and only tackle as more of a "you took my pills you jerkface and I want them back!"

And TTA, well, his motives are not even close to clear, but he seems to have had opportunity to take Jay out as well -- in Addition, he's filming Jay while Jay is helplessly coughing in the hallway of the house. He does nothing to help or hinder Jay.

Now while I admit that none of this rules out the idea that Masky and TTA are toying with Jay in a nefarious manner or steering him towards the bad end, I don't believe they are. The videos have seemed to at most be trying to scare the shit out of Jay, or to urge him to do... something. I suspect that the messages that TTA has been trying to get across have been things intended to warn or help Jay, but that he can't come right out and say things. Why?

Slender Man is the approximation of a person, a kind of rough sketch of a human by a being that doesn't understand the importance of the subtle details. Generalized hands, generalized face -- he seems to me the construction of a creature that got the general shape of a human down and then said "well these little lumps and dips in this one tiny chunk of the body can't be all that important, can they?". I suspect that Slendy, as a mysterious kind of otherly-intelligence, might have a similarly generalized understanding of human language and behavior.

Maybe he can understand basic human speech but metaphor and symbolism are beyond him. In that case, TTA's videos would seem like senseless gibberish to him (cause they don't to us, ha ha), and maybe even Masky's mask would be a valid form of disguise or defense. (If Slendy doesn't understand the concept of the mask being a metaphor for a human face, rather than a literal human face, he might be trying to stalk 'Masky' without realizing that he SHOULD be stalking the person BEHIND the mask, thus protecting the wearer's real identity from Slendy's attention).

In that case, maybe Slenderman would catch on to attempts to straight-up tell Jay what's going on and wipe any memories Jay would have of the TTA videos. TTA would thus be forced to use roundabout methods of communication through symbolism and metaphor, and desperately hope that Jay catches on to some vital clue before getting entirely brainfucked.

tl;dr: Slendy fails basic English, and TTA is avoiding him by being a very skilled artfag.
