So the images are sort of interleaved - every other line is translated giving the double image effect. Not sure what will happen if we slide them back together.
ETA - ok, not every other line, but look and you'll see what I mean.

The two images have different dimensions and, although they are PNG files, do not have any additional layers or objects when opened in Fireworks.

I can't see any meta data in them, and can't really think of how to manipulate them for any result.

It is kinda obvious what they are though, at least to those of us who know the movie and aren't in the game's world, so maybe they're supposed to be obscure on purpose. Kinda like a "look at this corrupted JPEG I found on the corporate web server" sort of thing.

ETA: Overlaying the image and shifting it left/right gives a slightly better image, but the red/yellow rectangles overwhelm it; it's not very clear.

Well, at first glance, I thought that the color bars on the side looked like the visual representation of the Baudot code used on the cover of Coldplay's X&Y. Not sure if there's any credence to that idea though.

I also tried using the weird URLs as steg keys to no avail.

In this thread MeganRocks suggests that those URLs could be some type of code. Any ideas?

To scan the barcode on the magazine picture in the forums, and it came out with "121985," just like it says underneath it - it stands for Dec. 1985, when the magazine came out.

So, nothing there.

anyone think the color bars in the light cycle sketches might form some type of QR Code overlaid on top as a second clue? or new type of bar code. Tried scanning it with 2d sense on iphone but nothing. just a thought...maybe its nothing.
