They're obviously trying to make it look like teleportation, so I'm just going to assume that's what it is, at least for now.

You guys are trying too hard to find answers when the answer is right in front of you.

"SOMEONE COULD'VE BROKEN INTO J'S BARRICADED HOUSE AND EDITED THE FOOTAGE" seems like too convenient of an excuse. I'm sorry. The only reason you're denying this theory is that you don't like the idea of it, and that's your problem.

I would venture to say that It's more convenient to just write it off as teleportion than messing with the footage.

I meant "convenient" as in "convenient for the people who don't like the idea of teleportation".

i think the idea of teleportation and time travel is possible because we as viewers dont know the whole boundaries of the MH universe.

as far as we know J has the ability to walk through walls and turn invisible.

all we can do is guess and making hate threads like this on the idea of TTT(teleportation and time travel) is not only a waste of time but completely ignorant.

ARGs are supposed to be the idea of people helping each other to solve puzzles and to come up with wacky ideas that the creators would try to come up with to add to the ARG.

im tired of seeing so much hate everywhere. especially for something so small as an idea for something NO ONE knows for sure.

im not saying you guys are incorrect about the editing idea. it sounds plausible if you take the idea of TTT out of the picture completely, but in #23 J teleports from one room to the other. i dont mean downstairs.

the way the layout of the house has been shown so far. it showed absolutely no possible way for J to run in a circle like that. that explains a bit about teleporting but time traveling im not completely for or against.

J could have edited the video to cut the time that he was wasting run around looking for somewhere to go. to me that seems to be the most plausible answer to the lights getting darker as he keeps running.

hope no one RAGES at me for stating my opinion. seems to me that some people dont approve of such actions.

I'm more or less neutral on the whole thing, although I tend to side with the fact that teleporting isn't the issue at hand. Although, I don't think this thread was made to "hate" but more to discuss the issue of teleportation, since it's proven itself to cause a great deal of conflict. Just because the first two posts aren't the nicest doesn't necessarily mean the rest of the posts aren't as well.

seeing as how the first post was used to disprove the idea of teleportation with a theory that has no backing besides what seems right and wrong. and after that alot of people RAGED about the idea of TTT.

This is really only to discuss that teleportion isn't the only possibility, and I don't believe it was meant to be a hate thread. Some people just presume that we want MH to be hwat we want it to be. The whole point of Marble Hornets is making theories, and this one is no different imo.

Okay, wait. What does 'TTT' stand for, again? o_o I keep thinking it should be 'TTA' as in 'To the ark' so I'm reading it as 'To the tark' but that's not right. And then my brain tries to sub in other 'T' letters. "Tim's Traveling Tax?!" "Tiny Teleportation Troubles?!"

Anyways, discounting teleportation doesn't necessarily mean that we're discounting all para/super/multiamazingnormal powers in the series. For instance, even if teleportation is not happening in #23, Jay could (and probably is imo) be under some weird or hypnotic influence. 'When I snap my fingers, you'll turn off your camera and do X, Y, and Z' -- people have noticed that there's audio distortion around each of the jumps, which could be masking some cue that we haven't yet discovered. -- Anyways, once they're done with him for whatever purpose, they could have put him back roughly where they found him -- notice that the attempts to put him exactly where he started gets less and less precise as the night goes on -- until finally they lead him down to the closet and have him stand in there for a while. No wonder his head was liquified if he was standing around all night. XD

But see how I'm building that up to suggest that in #24, when we are hearing that languorous tune mixed in with weird bouncing audio, and the shifts in the TV screen, it could be some kind of hypnotic suggestion which has Jay moving into his room, picking up 'static' as he bed-bounces, and then wandering off? For all we know he could have edited the tapes himself, if he were in a suggestible state. 'Human error' could be a clue that he left himself, which is why he's focusing on the door. Not in so much as that 'holy shit you guys, I defied the laws of physics! I pooped a little!' as that he's hooked on 'okay this isn't what it appears to be... I think. What's wrong here?'

Anyways, that may just as easily not be the case but it's so easy to use the same points (which are unproven to be one way or the other) to lead up to a relatively convincing sounding alternative.

In this case I think we just need to keep our eyeballs peeled for more hints and otherwise just ride along with the story as it goes. Don't know about anyone else but I'm still wrapped around their little finger. XD Anyways, all of this raging and counter-raging is kind of hilarious. I hope that nobody on either side gets their panties in a knot when (if) we find out what 'side' is right.

TTT, it was explained in Blind's post, stands for Teleportation and Time Travel.

Anyhow, honestly, I could see it going either way. There are adequate points for both teleportation being a factor and for it just being a warp of the video. HOWEVER, I feel that, at this point, going along with it is the wisest thing to do. It's never a good idea to get stuck on one theory or ignore clues pointing to another (and this goes for both sides of this debate, some of you guys get much too carried away with your arguments that you refuse to see the value in the other side,) but as far as I can see, there are more reasons to go with the teleportation theory as it stands.

First off, as it has previously been stated, it does seem like the creators are quite forcefully pushing us toward this conclusion. And, if some of you will remember, we have already established that their general procedure for storytelling is either to make it as plain as day, or to throw us a complete curveball. This alone makes me think that either it is teleportation we're dealing with, or something a hell of a lot more complex than we've gathered so far.

As it goes, we must allow for a margin of error, and the assumptions people will make about something that turns out to be a fluke. As when Entry 18 came out, remember how many people (including myself) began theorising that there were three people on the scene, and various other things, such as J driving Alex's car and so on simply based on peripheral data. When J came out with posts to dispel these theories, we fell back on "if they want us to know something, they'll show us" for a good while, and it served us well. Now we are getting the same sort of straightforward messages. J all but comes out and says that he's been teleporting in this video. Many of us, however, not liking this idea, thinking it preposterous to introduce into an otherwise "realistic" story try to form a new theory based on the peripheral data that has, in the past, proven to amount to nothing in the vast majority of the time. This is not to say that we should dismiss this data, or stop discussing it. It could very well turn out to be something significant. However, too many of us are disregarding patterns seen previously in this series, and dismissing perfectly legitimate theories as to where the story seems to be going, simply because they do not like them.

If the series is strongly suggesting teleporting, then I am going to look for a alternative. MH doesn't generally feed us info on a fork. I'm just trying to look at other options not because I hate the teleporting idea(It has grown on me) but because I'm doing what everyone else does: speculating.

^This.

I support the idea that Slendy can at least bend a small amount of space/time laws, which to me explains why he can stretch his body to impossible lengths and move so quickly. His presence also messes up electronic equipment, which I feel is also due to the fact that he is screwing with space/time, and since cameras and televisions are unable to capture and broadcast this sort of strangeness, we see it as a distortion. This might also explain how he is able to mess with the memories of those in close proximity to him, if that is in fact his fault. I have yet to see any way for him to transfer this ability to others, though, and since these distortions only seem to happen when he is VERY close by, I can't see how Jay just spontaneously starts teleporting in his own home without the significant distortion in his security cameras that is usually present when Slenderman is. I've yet to figure out how TTA or Masky got in to edit his tapes (I doubt Slenderman knows or cares how a video camera works, nor can I see him taking the time to edit tapes, so I assume a human did it), but then again, Masky isn't the Epileptic Ninja for no reason, and TTA is...well, TTA. Who the hell knows who he/she is and what he/she is up to...or capable of.

At the same time, it seems very strange to me that in Entry 23 Jay would black out in a strange house, turn his camera on, move through a few rooms, black out again, turn his camera on again, move through a few rooms, etc., and not think to mention that at all (unless he didn't remember). Still, you'd think he'd wonder why he kept waking up on the floor while he was running about in circles, or why his head hurt so much. If someone messed with the tape, it seems more logical that they'd just want to knock him out ONCE and be done with it, but that doesn't explain the time shifts in the tape.

Then again, if he WAS teleporting through time and space, Slendy had to be VERY close by the whole time, and there isn't enough distortion in the tape to suggest this, except towards the end when he finds himself in the "basement."

I think the real problem behind the whole teleportation/tapefuckery debate is that there isn't a clear consensus on what Slenderman's power actually is. Can he create pockets of space where time is screwed with, even when he's not close by? Does he screw with time at all? Exactly how close does he have to be to cause tape distortion? What is his relationship to the whole memory-loss incidents? Is he bound by physical laws, i.e.- can he move through solid objects? We really need more information on our slender friend (fiend?) before we can ultimately say one theory is more valid than the other, because both have huge gaping holes in them. I'm content for now to just sit back and let it play out; I'm quite sure the creators will make it clear before the end.

well so far has there been anything actually pointing towards time traveling? teleporting for SM yes. but time traveling is a theory based on either TTA being someone from the future or masky being someone from the future. except for the fact that the lights get darker over time in 23, that could of just been edited tape to not show J running around the house for hours on end. Time traveling and bring SM together just dont seem right in the big picture. if SM was a time traveler why worry about this point in time? why not go back in time and get what he wants?

Good points, though about the tapefuckery, if Jay was compelled to loop his own camera, he could always have pushed the couch out of the way to let someone in, or opened his window in the bedroom, or whatever. In that case he could also have been sitting about drooling for a few minutes while TTA subbed in new film and ganked the rest.

In that case it'd be neat if we saw something along those lines from TTA's tube-site! Been F5ing that little bastard every few minutes. DX

You know, I think that the biggest lead that we have that we're not dealing with teleportation here is that we see, briefly in a single frame or two from #23, someone reaching for the camera overlaying the view of the basement in Slenderland.

Despite the fact that we can't see a face the surroundings of said person look very much like the upstairs little hall that Jay was running through. If Jay were being toyed with rather than experiencing a blurp in the laws of physics, someone would probably need to go into his camera and edit out the evidence at some point, hence the arm reaching forward to grab the camera.

Why there was a bit of that overlaying the basement sequence is a little odd. If Slendy can take audio and parrot it back, what's to say that he can't parrot back snippets of video, as well?

In #24 our biggest lead is probably the retarded timestamps. The fact that they change, and get reset, and overlaid with other timestamps doesn't really match up with teleportation. The slightly shifting view of the blocked door is also suspect. Again, Jay could be so addled that he thinks that teleportation's the case. It could even be that we're getting hooped and that there's both teleportation AND tape-fuckery happening.

o_o I don't even know anymore.
