I haven't been back here (at least this section) since TheIHC and found out about the viral via Twitter a few days ago. Been keeping up since but it's a little difficult coming in mid-campaign. Couldn't make into the city (NYC) for the drops and I was at work during the IMAX ticket release. Hearing that there's +1s, I'm tempted to go to the theater in case someone doesn't come with a friend. Though at the same time don't wanna seem like a leech Embarassed... Guess I'll just wait and hear wonderous tales of Tron goodness from the ones who go Razz.

My Virgin phone has a 919 Area Code, the "Contact Me" number was a 919, and the wrong number I got this morning was 919. 919 Is North Carolina, and no idea how that might play into the ARG (here's a list of cities and towns covered by 919)

So It was you who got the phone and wallet at the Theater huh? What time did you get to the arcade? I live in gilbert, and traffic was horrible, eneded up getting there like 40 mins late. Sad

What if the codes from the light-cycle sketches are serial numbers?

and i don't think there'll be anything happening until tomorrow after the trailer screening.

Darnell, you can check here and maybe add your name as someone looking for an unused +1.

 Original Tron in Theatres?

Seems like now would be a good time to start showing the original film version of Tron in theaters. I was too young to see it when it was originally released in it's full glory (color tinted scenes, etc).

Would showing the original be considered OOG? Or is this something that perhaps a certain marketing group could organize a late night screening in the MNPLS area by chance?

**cough** 42E **cough**

Normally, I wouldn't be this nuts, but I work in video games today because of Tron. It's pretty much woven into the fabric of who I am. So I'm really, REALLY into this game. I've also missed far too many opportunities already. I hope I get a shot for some other stuff.

Maybe I'll get the "Way too obsessive geek" achievement or something. Smile

I'll be running from the airport with a friend, but hopefully we'll find a way to have fellow UF folk recognize each other.

Showing the original would seem OOG. As the ARG is supposed to happen in the film world... so that would be kinda like breaking the 4th Wall and rather ungame like.

The idea is that the ARG is supposed to help fill the gaps between the first film and Legacy. And players aren't supposed to have "experienced" the computer world of the first film... this is all happening outside of the computers (for now?)

It would be cool though. But highly unlikely, imo.

+1 for NYC

Will be in an orange 70's sci-fi shirt, tan jacket and leather cap. Will be there early, and won't hang around once they open the doors.

I made the call to "Contact Me" at 1612, and I had pegged my time arriving at the theater at 1608. I'm literally less than two blocks from there in Chandler (on the border with Tempe). If you saw a tall guy with a shaved head wearing a black hoodie skipping to the parking lot, that was me Laughing

And what madopal said rings true with me-everyone has their influences and reasons, and Tron has been a big one for me. Instead of video games, however, I dug into electronics and ultimately, engineering.

I knew, too, when the buildup to this ARG was starting to flow out that I was not going to sit this one out!

Has anybody ever owned a Motorola phone? I'm trying to find out the number of the one from the London drop, but I somehow can't work out how to do that. If I ring my own number I just get 'Private Number'...

I can't sus out my number either, and I got the UK charger here in Toronto. I think our phones may have been crossed. You can dial out, ... lucky, lol. try '-" and then '#' I swear if it's on my phone it's hidden. What wireless service is it using and is it roaming globally? I'm on Rogers but the only reason I could see to have to roam globally is if this is the London phone.

More on the unsolved numbers

Ok, from a few flickr finds, I noticed that all of the codes from the cards are 12 characters, just like the two in the images.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/elziard/4385083111/

They're not the same exact format that I can tell, but they're similar. Anyone who got codes, do you still have them? Maybe we can glean something from the patterns here.

Now, again, the two URLs where the images are found are 26 characters each. I had thought maybe that some combination of the two image strings would yield something, but I've had no luck.

On the way to Toronto, I'm gonna try and write some more cryptanalysis routines and see if I can come up with anything.

I give you mad props man, I was there at 419, so no matter what I was too late, but a close 2nd. Although I think you will agree with me you were shocked it was in Tempe and not Phoenix. I was planning on the drop to be at some other sites in Phoenix, especially CastlesnCoasters, because that fit the bill of all the other sites, and this was at the game section of a movie theater.
