silent snow, secret snow

So that's the movie which appears to be in Signal. That's what is on Wikipedia about it.
Quote:
The story tells of a boy named Paul Hasleman, who finds it increasingly difficult to pay attention to his classwork, and grows more distant from his family. He is, instead, becoming more and more entranced by daydreaming about snow. This began when he was lying in bed one morning, awaiting the approach of the postman. Unable to hear the expected footfalls, the boy imagines that they have been muffled by newly fallen snow, and is surprised when he looks out the window and discovers that there is no snow on the ground.

Paul's increasing distance and indifference to the world around him alarms his parents. He has to struggle to get dressed and converse with others, because of the allure of his daydream about snow. They eventually call in a physician, who makes a house call to examine Paul. After revealing that he likes to think about snow, Paul tears himself away from the meeting with the physician and retires to his room. When his mother pursues him, he tells her "Go away... I hate you!", and is lost in the dreamworld of the snow.

Hmm... Isn't that really like what happened to Alex?
So the boy in the film and story (on which it was based) daydreamed about snow. Alex's imaginatioan created Marble Hornets, and we do not know much what exactly had to be there. Just maybe... Alex's imagination brought Slender Man to him? And yes, his personality changes too and he seems to become different with his friends (as nothing is said about his family). The boy fromthe movie goes to his room... isn't that what J does, not going anywhere for some time? But the boy is lost after it, it could mean that staying at home won't save J.
The text in Signal is as following:
Quote:
"=Just wait 'til we're alone together, and I will tell you something new, something cold, something sleepy, something of cease and peace and the long bright curve of space. Banish them. Refuse to speak. Leave them. Go upstairs to your room. I will be waiting for you. I will surround your bed, close the window, so that none will ever again be able to enter.

Once again, in his loneliness J can easily become a victim - SM doesn't seem to appear in crowds or at places like schools, colleges, etc. But then there's Warning with "Be alone", which somewhat confuses it all.

In the event that Warning is somewhat mocking/commanding, however, it jives with Signal -- Warning may be more of a repetition of Signal but in a more personal tone?

Thanks for the pointer, Nakigahara! I don't think I'd have found that movie on my own! X3

I just had a very strange thought while waiting for totheark, and I wanted to ask here before I go adding it to my list of crazy theories and investigate. It might have already been discussed, but I honestly don't remember so feel free to trout me into oblivion. Has anyone looked at the specific times/dates of totheark's posts, both by themselves and in relation to the Entries they respond to? I wonder if there's some significance...I'm bored enough, and it'd give me something to do. :/

Tried this with the number of days he takes to respond. If we consider the 91 days as a space then you get.

CCBBECIECKGAS(SPACE)F

If you can get something out of that, more power to you

Edit: I never really looked at the times though, your handy compilation thing looks like a winner as far as investigation tools go.

Chords for a song, perhaps?

While working on the second edition of the timeline and bouncing crazy theories off my friend, he came up with a very good idea. He doesn't have an account (yet) so I'm going to ask for him: could Slenderman's powers be somehow tied into boundaries?

Here's his theory: every time we've seen him, Slenderman and the camera-person have both been either outside, OR in the same room, with TWO exceptions. The first exception is during entry 1 (and the missing piece of it found in entry 6), where we see our tall friend lurking outside the house through the windows. The second exception is during Entry 7, where we see SM in an alley outside the car through a closed window (you can tell it's closed because you can see Brian's reflection in it when he moves). These are the only two times that we see Slenderman on camera without the usual heavy video distortion and/or tearing (except maybe Entry 10, but it's too erratic to tell). My friend is postulating that because there was a boundary between the camera and SM, the usual bizarre tapefuckery that usually occurs doesn't, and that this in turn might mean that as long as there is a boundary in place, Slenderman's abilities might be limited. So, for example, if a building (or vehicle) were completely closed off (windows locked, doors shut, no way in), Slenderman might not be able to harm or do ANYTHING to anyone inside. This would bring up the need for someone with skills in breaking and entering to do some of his work for him: hence, the Masked Ninja.

His theory also sort of explains the teleportation: if his power is tied in to boundaries, then every door and doorway, open or shut, is a boundary. Perhaps once a boundary is open to him, he can change it: for example, cause an open doorway to lead somewhere else. We already know that boundaries were opened to him in Brian's house (remember him slinking into the room in Entry 14? And he was definitely able to enter the house in Entry 11.) "There are doors unopened" goaded Jay into going back to the house, and when he opened the last unopened doors, all of the boundaries in the house were opened, and SM had complete control over the house. To prove this, he had Jay run around in circles for a little bit before moving him to the closet, and then to the "basement." It also explains why we haven't seen Slenderman inside Jay's house yet since he boarded it up.

While it doesn't explain the time shifts in Entry 23, the memory loss and a few other things, I kind of like this theory: we have yet to see SM open a door that wasn't already cracked open. Maybe he can't. I could totally picture him gliding around the house in circles in Entries 1 and 6 looking for an open window or door, some sort of way in.

Also, it makes me feel better about keeping my windows and doors closed and locked at night. >_>

You should post said timeline, it would help greatly with speculation

But there's no visual distortion in 10, 11, or 14, when Slendy's quite clearly nearby. I dunno, it seems like his distortion abilities are probably affected by something else

This makes sense, especially the "there are doors unopened" part. That would give TTA/masky (if he's/they're working for Slendy) a motive to bring Jay back, and for some reason not harm him when he gets there.

However that raises the question, what would they want with Brian's house anyway? And if Slendy needs Masky to break the boundaries, why couldn't Masky just open those doors?

@Seņor: Yeah, it's not perfect, but it's a pretty good theory as far as theories go, I think. There is evidence of video tearing in 14 right at the beginning, 10 is so crazy that there could indeed be distortion in it but the camera is moving so fast it's hard to tell, but you're right about 11. My only guess is that perhaps it was Masky, and not Slendy, that was moving past? And the link to the first edition of the timeline is about 2 pages back: I'll post the second edition as soon as it's finished. It's kind of massive. @_@

Edit: As for what they want with Brian's house...maybe that's where the interdimensional Slender Rave will take place? Idk

Ah I missed the tearing in the beginning of 14; but still, 11 is distortion-free. I doubt it's Masky, he's been shown to be unique to Jay so far, and can definitely distort. (Plus Slendy is probably seen in 11, at 1:05 through the window on the right.)

oh ok I didn't see it before. I downloaded and read it, and it was good so far, but I thought you meant a timeline as in the chronological order of the Entries, not when they were posted (like how 6 comes right after 1, 12 would be near the beginning, etc)

Now I wanna work on that >_<

Simply put:
This is Alex's REAL movie, and Jay is the "Truman Show".
