Oh my goodness, you guys are really amping it up! You're doing awesome!

Lol, Spritey, looks like a good start. You might have to bump the opacity down a bit and start sampling colours on the painting to get a smoother look. A bit of anatomy issues on the facial planes, too. (You're getting a bit of squirrely cheeks there because the left side is pushed further out than in the photo. The shading around the jaw line is a bit too thick, which is also contributing to it -- Neck's a bit too thin too, though the part that is missing is lost in shadow so I can see where you'd miss it!) That style seems to work really well. Very Happy You should try it out some more some time.

Dotman, I dunno, I don't think it's terrible! I really like the use of eraser to get some hidden mesages... if you like that and want to try it some more (and don't mind getting horribly filthy in the process) you should try covering a heavier piece of paper with that really dark charcoal, then erasing back into that. It's messy, but it gets a similar end result across. The white outlines are nice (and are a good trick to bust something forward on the picture plane... though sometimes they can flatten an image!) The only thing that seems weird to me is that they're just sitting there, not doing much. The most important thing that you can do to make a picture with characters stand out is to try to get some narrative into them. What's their body language saying? Is there anything that they're holding or wearing that's important? How are the characters in the picture reacting to their environment and other characters? The mask could use some more space around the chin (the lips seem reeeeally low to the bottom) and maybe some lighter shading from the edges to make it blend in a little more (what about erasing the mask out of the dark space around the edges so it matches with the text?) Slendy works well, though.
For pencil stuff, by the way, I find that starting with a lighter layer where I didn't press so hard and then going over a couple more times with slightly heavier scribbling makes a more uniformly dark surface. If you're going to do rendering (shading in with pencil) like that you should keep in mind how you want the chunks of shaded space to look. Keep it uniform across the page instead of crosshatching on one side and doing chunky patterns over the rest, if that makes sense? Still, you've got a neat style going. I'd say keep going!

Oh wow, Miss D, that's going to really epic! I love what you're doing with the water colours (is that a huge canvas or a tiny easel? XD) Ha ha, I love those eyes, too. Totally cracked out. And the panda face! Bua ha haha, that's amazing! You make it look like piles of dead bodies somehow, or maybe I'm rorschachin' it that way. I don't know what else to say except that I need to go pick up my jaw now, because it fell off when I first saw this. ;P

Y'all are epic, is what! I want to take all of this fanart and make a little booklet out of it. XD

Thanks, I guess I could try doing a slightly bigger project based on charcoal XDmost of my style is based on sketchyness and atmosphere so I'll see what I can do and get back with the basic results! Also, a marble hornets art booklet should definatly be part of the MH Merchandise thread, I know I'd buy one! XD

Done!

I'm very happy with the end result. Sadly, it's too big to get scan it in. It's 12x16 inches (so that answers your question, Dray C: )

Excellent work, MissD, if I tried to paint something like that I'd probably sneeze and paint a moustache on Jay by accident ._.

Holy crap, you are a machine! That's fantastic! Great work! Can you scan it in in chunks? (You have photoshop, right?) If you want I can try to fit them together or something. Dude, just flip the image over and move a couple of elements around it looks like a book cover. Very neat! (Argh, I think I need to catch up to you, now! XD)

Dotman, dunno if it helps, but if you try some thumbnail-sized roughs first it can really help make the final more solid looking.... I think it'd be neat to see where that goes, though.

spritey: great job, though it looks like your J is holding in his breath and looks like he has chipmunk cheeks. if you can make his cheeks more inward and his jaw line a lil lower i think you will be spot on.

I need your opinions on something really quick!

Not sure which composition looks better -- look at the little heads on the left, do you like the ones where Brian's head is darker and Sarah's is lighter, or vice versa? (They'll be painted up and everything, I just can't decide on the tones I want to use for each. I'm leaning towards the Brian's lighter, Sarah's darker spectrum because it seems to lead the eye better, but I can't help but feel that the other one helps to break up the composition a little from the 'dark on bottom, light on top' feeling it has right now!)

Anyways, thanks for your help! Still chugging along! ^_^

i think the bottom one is better due to the transition of light to dark, unless you can somehow fill the upper part with maybe woods?
