enc.exe askes for a password. Everything I have tried so far results in FalseEndings.

What do you mean by that? everything I try results in enc closing and thats it. Does it do something else for you?

As it is a console application, when the application ends it will close the console and you will not see any exit text.
Try opening a CMD or COMMAND window and running it from the there. You will see the exit text and you can run it again easily.

New exe...

I see the exe has changed...
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Looking at the file in a hex editor used to yeild "three pairs" of expressions. You entered one and got the second as a reply.
"Hortator" gave "False Profit"
"FalseEndings" gave "The God frown upon you"
"To Live is to Die" gave "RedXIII"

Now, it gives a "Password:" prompt and almost every attempt yeilds "FalseEndings" (which point to the page).
But if one types "To Live is to Die" (as from the page) you get RedXIII as response.

Crud Muffin! I saw that but never thought to try .exe!

Looks like we have a grid code now...

Actually

Well, i figured out something...

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The memory adresses are hex:
All is Lost
hence /AllisLost

From there, the text implies the existence of an app called JTB...

JTB.exe :
amongst the lines of messages these appear:
... Encrytion protocol established: Matt
... Establishing compression protocol ...
... Compression protocol established HEW
... Establishing compression ratio ...
... Compression ratio established: 3:1

Pretty sure this points to Matthew 3:1 which reads:
"In those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the Desert of Judea" (King James Bible)
"Now in those days comes John the baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea"
(Bardy English Bible)

All I have at the moment is that JTB = John the Baptist

Edited: solved and the progressed more

kenbo -

If you watch real fast as you enter an invalid password, it says FalseEndings, which matches the file printed above in the thread.

Hacking is not required to solve the puzzles. Please stop attempting to do so.

Do we have any insights into the meaning of the new message added to the front page:

"How to know? How to know? Communication, communicate! Speak.

Exclusive!

Speak the tounge, leave out ten. Know the tounge, leave out fifty-five. Master the tounge, leave out one hundred twenty eight."

Does it seem to be related to the Biblical reference previously mentioned?
Similarly, does the odd capitalization of the Biblical reference seem to matter?
Regarding the capitalization of a previous puzzle:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
As has most frustratingly occured to me earlier, the capitalization in this game obviously matters, since I *know* that I tried some variation of "to live is to die" for the enc.exe puzzle, but obviously didn't try the appropriately capitalized version.

idea

Matthew 3:1-2

In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Anyone else recognize this quote, used in the movie Clue (The chief, posed as a Witness).

I like the idea of Clue being related to this puzzle somehow, but I haven't been able to make that or kingdom of heaven, work yet...

[SPEC] These two lines:

Code:
How to know? How to know? Communication, communicate! Speak.

Speak the tongue, leave out ten. Know the tongue, leave out fifty-five. Master the tongue, leave out one hundred twenty eight.

seem to be related. Is it possible that something in the current puzzle (Matt HEW 3:1) requires that we "leave out ten"?

I guess you must be refering to my viewing the file in Hex...
I didn't mean it as an attempt at hacking, please keep in mind that viewing files in hex is a necessary steps in the resolution of many types of puzzles these days.

Disassembly is where i personaly draw the line, but i still think finding different ways of looking at a file to be fair game. Please note that the words i found would also be visible if you opened the exe in notepad (and i certainly wouldn't consider that "hacking").

That being said, it wasn't my intention to bypass steps in the resolution of the trail. Consider me informed, i'll refrain from using said methods for the rest of this experience...

Confused

I'm having some difficulties with my site at the moment. I don't know what the heck is going on right now. I can assure you that this isn't part of the game.
