Starfest starts next month here in Denver, but I am seriously not holding my breath on that one.

C2E2 debuts this year as well, it's in just over a month.

Idea

So I was reading the Encom/future site (again) and I saw something about the Andromeda Space Probe, yet found nothing about it other than Crighton's book The Andromeda Strain. I've tried a bunch of /andromeda and /strain (all ending in .htm) things like that for encom's site, but any other Ideas of where this could go? I'm just trying to spitball a little because I'm bored. Any other ideas?

[edit] I've also tried: encominternational.com/ andromedaspaceprobe, asp, research, m31, probe, space, and a few others I can't remember at the moment.

[edit 2] in the section about "from the boardroom to the classroom" it does mention a plague... just fyi

You mean WonderCon. Smile

Grr... That's false advertising, I tell you. I missed that detail.

on /offices.htm

that's not Seattle. That's Portland, OR. The next one up is Vancouver, BC.

AHA! That's the mysterious employer SpaceBass works for! Encom International!

But seriously, if those dots have any importance to future events I'm glad - at least Portland is within an attainable distance for me.

I know this is 42E and not the fan-tormenting mind of JJ Abrams, but if they learned a little from his example then the Encom site wasn't just put up just for show - it should actually lead to the next step in some way. I didn't do TDK, but with Cloverfield each site did lead to another, and another piece of information. With the way 42E's campaigns work, it should lead to interaction, not just information.

What's wrong with putting up websites "for show"? Is that really "fan tormenting"? Razz

Maybe it's just me but the following could be an ordered list:

"This is the only way for us to accomplish our ambitious agenda, which includes some of the following initiatives:
To fully understand and fulfill the communication needs of the Middle East
To develop the appropriate virus protection programs for the offices of Western Europe
To partner with the governments of South America, Australia and Sub-Saharan Africa in order to bring their people the very best that technology has to offer"

I"m thinking maybe GPS co-ords in that order or maybe the first letter of each city in that order to form a word? In either case, the wording of the passage seems suspect.

(btw, I'm a longtime reader, firsttime poster)

I bet that would be on Tacloban City as the dot, for me, is near the Leyte region.

And for some point, it's kinda "pretty" far from ours. Bet I would go there if I need to and if I have the chance.. ;p

EDIT: BTW, welcome aboard, Touya. :]

I've been pouring over just that very page. The wording of it all seems just way off.
I've dug into the .swf file too, and been trying to see if the .css files are relevant. It's been bugging the hell out of me that there is something there, I just know it!

I found this tidbit while randomly hunting for press conference info on google...
It's a real company, real site. Completely NOT ARG related... but the coincidence was worth noting, imo:

http://www.encom.com.au/template3.asp?pageid=45

For obvious reasons...
1) "encom"
2) "convention"
3) toronto was a drop city...

however i think this holds no relevance.. just an interesting form of life and art imitating each other.

I live in SF, so if i can find a time/place, I can definitely make it to the the GDC, but I think MrToasty is right about it not being part of the ARG...
