Trust me, I will let it be known that I'm on the lookout for Tron/Flynn Lives related events, and if I hear about anything you guys will be the first to know.

If this goes the way we think it will... FLO will have nothing to do with it, and it'll be all Encom.

And it being the -final- weekend of March makes me want to scratch it from the list...

"Forthcoming" is rather ominous.

Well if I hear anything about Encom, then that would also pique my interest. But yeah, "forthcoming" implies sometime between this weekend and the next to me. Perhaps the next update spells out more explicitly that something will be happening at PAX East. Regardless, I will catalog any such happenings for the uF crowd.

Likewise...

There's going to be at least half a dozen cons in the next two weeks (EMCC included)... At least Comic/Sci/Fantasy cons... And god knows how many industry specifics/random cons. Like the PDAC in Toronto next week, that the REAL Encom will be having an exhibit at.

personally i have now opted out of seeing AIW I3D to save my money to go to EMCC on the 13th & 14th... so I can't wait for the trailer to be pirated and put online because i guess (thanks 42e, you bastards! j/k) that's the only way i'm going to see it.

((Corrections made due to lack of coffee.. Razz))

That's not the impression I got, I think the trailer will be up as early as Saturday and probably no later than Monday or Tuesday (through official means). They clearly don't want to put it out before Friday so that they can get a little Tron fanbase bump for Alice's opening numbers.

ETA: Of course, you won't be able to see it in 3-d except in front of Alice.

I too will be attending PAXEast. I am on the Community Advisory board for PAXEast and will be sitting on a panel (Online Communities and Real Life Relationships) on Friday. You can rest assured that I will be keeping my eyes pealed for any Flynn Lives/Encom clues throughout the weekend.

As an asside, we (2oldplay) will be hosting a party at Lir (across the street from PAXEast) on Saturday the 27th. You can find out more info here

(nobody ever holds conventions here in NYC anymore, thanks to the Lunarians)

Okay, I did a quick google search to find out more about this, but couldn't find anything. Care to elaborate? I am in Chicago and all of our conventions are pulling out due to the unions and taxes.

I think it should be Tron 10, but I think that would confuse the masses...

Tron 10 is brilliant. As for the Lunarians- they're an SF club here in New York. Unfortunetly, they tend to be among the more pedantic, irritating, brash, and in some cases less hygenic than the average fan (no, seriously). As a result, after having been formed, people wanted to hold cons in New York less and less as they didn't want ot have anything to do with the Lunies. Understand that when I describe them, I don't mean to be nasty- I'm friends with a number of them (except one bastard who came over to my house and jacked off onto my toilet seat- he can go to hell). Nonetheless, I do recognize how they are perceived, and it isn't completely unjustly. It's not the members so much as the guys that run it, although some of the members aren't so great either. So there was that. Plus, of course, New York is expensive. So, why pay more money to go to a place which will have a lot of people you don't want to be around? There's a certain mindset that can take place when you run cons, where you care more about running the con than you do about whatever the con is about. When that starts to happen, you start to make up silly rules and destroying everyone's good time. That's what happened here.

A few years ago, I was part of the WorldCon bid for Neuw Amsternam (New York's original name) and it was an uphill battle to convince people to come. "We just don't want to be around the lunarians" they kept telling us. Even people who don't know them have no desire to come- there's something about New York that seems unwelcome, although they don't knwo why. Lunarians are the reason why.

Interesting. I never really hear about conventions being held in NY for any sort of industry. I wonder why that is. Personally I have never been to any sort of comic/gaming convention. WizardWorld is the only one that comes here and for some reason I never really have an urge to go. I do think a Pinball convention comes around sometime. I really must keep a look out for that one...

I have a suspicion.

You'll notice that it is replaying images from the trailer. Possibly the last image will be of the flash of code we all saw.

I got a BIT!

Hey guys, I don't know where I should put this, but I"m so excited that I had to post it anyways!

My roommate told me this morning that I got a Bit in the mail! Now, I'm currently studying abroad in Italy, so I'm not sure when it got there, but it has /zerohour on the box like what was sent before, so its possible it was sent a while ago and my roommate in the states is just now sending word to me. He had to leave for work, so I don't have any more details, but it looks like just one of the normal bits from the first mailing.

=D

I'm going to see Alice in Wonderland at midnight, I will watch for the code and try and write it down.

One of my first thoughts when I read that AICN post about the Encom conference was that it could be at PAX, but it was far enough away that I ruled it out as a strong possibility. GDC - http://www.gdconf.com/ is next week, although I also would rule it out due to it being for game devs who aren't looking to have a movie ARG marketed to them.

If they're playing the ENCOM angle, that'd be perfect for them. They'd have to hire some dedicated actors, though.

Well, technically, ENCOM is a video game company haha.

No, I totally agree that it would be the perfect place for ENCOM to hold a press conference. It just doesn't seem like the right environment for a rabbit hole to me, but perhaps 42e is being ballsy this go-round.
