lol drejl.

Some info found on scarabs;

Quote:
Scarab - Protector Of The Heart

The scarab was a favorite amulet associated with renewal and regeneration.
The dung beetle was chosen for this honor because after it laid its egg in animal dung and rolled it into a ball, it then pushed the ball into the sun so that the sun's heat hatched the egg. Thus, the connection of the beetle with the life giving powers of Ra was established.

Since the physical heart is taken from the body during mummification, and the body has need of another to act as the source of life and movement in its new life, A stone heart scarab gave new life to the body on which it lies.
Heart scarab amulets were weighed against the feather of truth in the Hall of Maat, and were often inscribed with a spell from the Book of the Dead.

good Book of the Dead reference here

Certainly sounds like BG/someone is getting prepared. Not sure I like the idea of ELC receiving potentially lethal drugs on her doorstep.

I totally agree with snorkle. At the moment I can hear the Evil Genius from Time Bandits saying "Standby for mind control"!

ETA/PS: anyone else think it odd that the new person to befriend Eleanor did a facebook type quiz-thing to see what type of motor bike she is and it turned out to be a HARLEY..!!! ><

Also still looking for more voices to fill the discussion room things have just begun, feel free to jump in.

New entry at yellowcurtain.com. Excpert from wiki about the Book of the Dead. Probably put there as a hint for those who haven't cracked the first puzzle yet.

Eleanor Carter answered to Tex on Facebook :
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Je ne suis pas sur si c'est un livre de fiction malgré le ton très scientifique et factuel. Il es clairement antique et pourtant bourré d'anachronisme... Et les faits rapportés sont simplement "out of this world"... Je dois avouer que juste qu'a maintenant, je m'y retrouve beaucoup personnellement. Tu connais un peu le sujet du monde des rêves?

I'm not sure, it may be a book of fiction desptie the clear scientific and factual tone. It clearly is antique but is full of anachronisms. And the facts written in it are just "out of this world". I must admit that up till now, I "find myself" a lot in this book (find myself = like it's a personnal story). Do you know about the land of dreams ?

Interesting...

I originally approached ELC with the story of being an independent research studying the carter lineage. I've asked her about the person that sent her the grandmother message and she said the email reply was a no go. So I've now told her I'll look into this qadhos and barbizon group and the datastore. I'll probably give her all the info on how to access it all.

Very quick post while I travel, rec'd email from BR, standard update email, but left this question to ponder;

Quote:
The real question is: who is really giving us this information and why the countdown? Is this meant for someone else then us?

I won't get back until early hours here in GMT land, so will checkout the next date after I get some sleep.

Has anyone told ELC about the datastore yet and how to access it and everything?

From those I know who are playing: no.

Edit: 6th of march was updated with a new background (looks like an Egyptian pattern - google 'Egyptian Pattern' and you'll catch my drift) and new song [Origa - Inner Universe (also the theme song for Ghost in the Shell SAC)] which I love. I think the lyrics are latin, English and Russian.

Edit2
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
New puzzle for March 3 is 'Spirit'.

It's a really simple puzzle.
We already found out that the picture is a Heart Scarab. The exact image is that of Heart Scarab of Hatnofer. Read the article there and you'll notice that 'spirit' is referred to as 'ka'...

The second unlock futhark letter is an 'R'.

This reveals another 5 page letter by Beatrix written in nov 1587 in Elizabethan England... I'm too ... not-sober.. To read it right now.. heh. Fun stuff for in the morning.

I'm inclined to think that the c3 image is part of a much larger picture taking the quality of it.. So I'm leaning towards Egypt since that seems to be the current theme... Hmz

Inner Universe lyrics btw, might be a clue in there..

Edit also, D - R.. I'm betting on 'Dreamlands'.. Also calling: EC is BG (based on the letter). Yup.

uh-oh... Shocked

from ELC on FB;

Quote:
est envoutée par la lecture de son grimoire... la réalité ce métamorphose devant mes yeux de minutes en minutes.

which I get to translate to;

Quote:
is bewitched by reading her spellbook ... reality this metamorphosis before my eyes every minute.

which I'm sure is less than perfect, but I think we get the message. Also from BR in email;

Quote:
Tex, I don't know if you are aware, some agent manage to break the second code. And quite quickly to be honest.

I didn't manage to track the original author, that said I have weird corruption / invalid date in the system.

Maybe a little to quickly. Do we share the same concern on that or is it my that is becoming paranoid? Wasnt exactly what happen the first time we delt with Beatrix? We were so confident.... and lost so much.

ETA just less than 8hrs on the clock, update to the March 10th countdown new background and music.

Also update from ELC on FB...

Tex...

New reply on FB from EC to Tex when he asked what kind of changes she had noticed.

Quote:
Mentale, clairement! Physique, en partie oui... Je ne souffre pas, bien au contraire, c'est une libération! Je commence à comprendre qui je suis vraimment.

Translation:
Psychologically, of course! Physical, a bit yes... I'm not suffereing, on the contrary, it's a liberation! I'm finally starting to understand who I really am.

And then she posted a complete new message:
Quote:
I Want to Believe

Right-oh, so I say we beat her over the head before she goes completely brainwashed.

Also, I sent Bobby an e-mail last night to figure out more about what he meant with his e-mail to Tex.

Quote:
Bobby,

I was the one to crack the second puzzle first. This has led to the concern that the security of this qadhos network may not
be as high as first assumed. In fact, I believe it may be a diversion, the notes Beatrix left included.

I think we may be sidetracked.

- Drejl

Drejl,

I am glad to see I am not the only one with that feeling. But then again, for now this is just a feeling and not fact.

It's 3 am here and I am working with the team to crack the next countdown. With any luck, it me give some insight on the current situation.

Drejl: The puzzles are easy.
Bobby: I have the same feeling, I have a whole team working on the next one!

I call 'lol'. Wink
