[SWAG] DIY
Tron swag for the masses!

After some conversation in the #flynnlives chatroom, we thought that it would be good to post Tron related swag that can be made at home (for personal use only, not for selling).

Here are a few that have surfaced.

Thanks go to BleuLlama for the typeface:

Some papercraft Bits:

Thanks to thebruce for the ArcadeAid.com Challenge Poster GIF:

This is what I have, what else do you know about? I'm personally working on the papercraft bits this weekend.

White on black iron-ons are not easy to do at home, but one could make their own Flynn Lives shirt based on the graphics from the official site. Doing so by changing the text to something other than white is quite attainable. HP actually has some good instructions and offers the paper to do it:

Anyone know a good way to do white on black on the relatively cheap?

It's quite easy. Avery has white background iron on material, available at most office supply stores. You'd take the Flynn Lives logo and make the image you're printing white letters on a black background. With white background paper, you dont invert the image (by "invert", I mean mirror image) like you do with the clear background paper. The black background of your image prints on the paper, leaving the white leters unprinted to let the white background of the peper to shine through. you can then cutdown the transfer as much as you want to minimize the now printed black background. Or you can make the background color that you print match the color of any shirt that you want to print the white letters onto Smile

The ArcadeAid poster would be an excelent thing to print on this white background transfer paper too!! Very Happy

Thanks for the pointer guest. Didn't know if there were such sheets out there, but thanks to your tip:
Dark T-Shirt Transfers

So I guess we can soon all have our own Flynn Lives shirts!

CafePress can also print white on black, I believe.

Anyone have a better way of contacting the "powers that be" to see if we're even allowed to do all this? I've tried and I've gotten dead air.

Getting my own printing paper and shirt and using my own printer with an image from their site to make a shirt for myself should fall under Fair Use. Having Cafe Press make one for me and make a profit probably doesn't. The latter case will only be OK if Disney and 42E basically say it is. Knowing how Disney protects it's properties but embraces it's fans, I'd stick to the former case and not the latter.

I forgot they call it "Dark shirt".. I like it for most transfers, I use alot of white in my transfers. Also, it doesnt leave a "film" on your shirt where theres no printing like the other "clear" background material does, since it uses a carrier layer over the printed graphic (hence why you have to print it mirror imaged). Shirts tend to pucker from that.

BTW I tried to join but never got the conformation email (UC: KiltDaddy)

Still not sure I fully understand how that white on black transfer paper is going to work, but at least I can try.

BTW, for more help with the registration see the instructions here.

According to the Avery site the adhesive is an opaque layer that goes between what you print and the shirt. If anyone needs me to recreate the Flynn Lives graphic just let me know, I can create a vector file that people can manipulate as needed in regards to sizing it up or down.
