I am so sorry that I am not in town this week (after complaining that the first set did not include Las Vegas even though a jar of honey was sent to vpisteve at the very beginning). I'll be home next weekend (in time for the next set if Las Vegas is included again) and hope the times work out for me to assist you guys.

PM Error?

A thought just occured to me.

Stepping back away from this and looking at it like a PM for a second: How do they find these locations? I would assume some sort of payphone directory. Find a phone that's listed, test it (hopefully), look up the address on geocode.com, post the coordinates. That's seems to be what they've done in this case, as the coordinates match exactly.

Now here's my question. What if they looked up the wrong Hilton on geocode.com? I googled "las vegas payphone hilton", and came up with a bunch of phones listed as being at the Hilton. That's all well and good, except the directory doesn't say which Hilton. For a local, it's obvious that the Hilton that's listed is the Las Vegas Hilton, home of the Star Trek Experience.

Perhaps they mistakenly looked up the Hilton Grand Vacations Club, instead of the Las Vegas Hilton. Confused

If so, it would work with my "They're all strangely located as paradise in Las Vegas" theory.... hmmmm..... wouldn't that be completely ironic, we're at the locations, but on the wrong side of the street?

Mind you, it would go along with some of the axons being at that location, but on the other side of the building... Hmmm.... something to think about...

OMG, I just had a horrifying revelation.... go to Hilton.com and look up locations in Las Vegas.... there are 4 locations, 3 of which are Hilton Grand Vacations Clubs at those same locations! Shocked

Could it be possible they had the right name, but the wrong location name for each? If you go to the map of the one located at the Flamingo, it falls onto that corner of the Barbary Coast.... and well, the one at the Las Vegas Hilton is close, but I'm not sure... I'll try Turnberry anyway, just in case... hmm... should prolly scout out the grand vacation club over at the lv hilton, just to be safe....

one of these HAS to be it.... hopefully, anyway... if not, then I hope the beer at the hofbrauhaus is good...

Well, after searching high and low and talking to numerous people at the Hilton, I came to the conclusion that the original bank of phones in the business center were indeed the only ones there. I went everywhere: the pool, the sales offices, the top floor, the lounges. Nada.

It just had to be those phones, and it just had to be at the Hilton, according to the coords.

So, I thought perhaps the axon simply malfunctioned the first day, so I gave it another chance. 5:59 came....and went. Grrrrrr.

So, this brings our list of non-ringing phones to:

1-Hilton Business Center
2-Wet N Wild entrance (outside the park)

The only real possibilities left are:

1-Arco Gas station south of the Hilton
2-One of the payphones just [i]inside[/] the gate at Wet N Wild

Unless of course, the PMs really picked the wrong Hilton (see above).

Unfortunately, I'm now out of the game for a few days. I've got to work tomorrow afternoon, then I'm going in for outpatient surgery on Wednesday, which will in turn lay me out for 3-4 days.

So, I hereby pass the baton to Kobun, popemike and Scarr (for now).

Godspeed, gentlemen.

...and the point is moot, as the Candidate axon coordinates have changed. No longer Vegas. Confused

So....back to the Bellagio. Neutral

You guys have my sympathy, you did a great job, and got nothing for it, Bang Head and I think the PMs should be ashamed of themselves! This is a pitiful excuse, taken from http://www.ilovebees.com/gretel.html, for changing the coordinate:

So yeh, just wanted to say "Good Job" Worshippy Rock On Worshippy and good luck with the new axons, hope it goes smoothly for you all.

This phone still hasn't been found. Spec is it's one of the payphones in the Bellagio. The only other public payphones found nearby were across the street at Barbary Coast.

Here are the phones I've personally checked and eliminated:

Barbary Coast-by the elevators
Bellagio-Across from lingerie store in the shops
Bellagio-To the right of Fix restaurant
Bellagio-At "O" entrance
Bellagio-To the right of the Fontana Bar

There are more phones in the Bellagio, and another bank in the Barbary Coast next to the check-in desk. Kobun may have been able to eliminate more phones in the Bellagio, however.

There are absolutely no phones to be found on the other corners, without going quite a ways into the other casinos (Caesar's and Balley's).

Good luck!

Yeah, I checked the phones over by the Conservatory (right outside the Parking Garage entrance) and no luck...

I'm starting to wonder if there are some over by the Bellagio Museum of Fine Art... will check tomorrow, to be sure...

I gotta admit, this is both fun and sucking, all at the same time...

Okay, no results near the Bellagio Museum of Fine Art at any of those times... was able to find another bank of phones a little farther down near the convention rooms (about 10 phones)...

Checked Flamingo, there is about 4-5 phones near the lobby....

have attached pic of phones near convention rooms, just in case....
