[UPDATE] Princess & Flea Conversation (gretel.html) 9-7-

This thread is for discussing the new conversation between SP and PF on gretel.html, so the puzzle solve thread can stay a [SOLVE] thread.

For reference:

Quote:
Creepy.

behold:
Princess > !label seeker creepy

A real Princess never stoops to name-calling, you dumb bug!

behold:
!analyze Princess
fail

I was thinking about what that guy said, in that stuff the Queen was transmitting.

behold:
Princess > !behold truth

I wouldn't go that far. But, uh, beholding other people is something you have to do sometimes if you are small and trapped behind enemy lines.

evade
evade
evade

And learn what you can while you're doing it. As for instance, I found a better spy-spot on one of the Queen's secrets today by snooping around the pantry. ANYWAY-what he said. "What if someone were listening to us right now?"

!analyze Princess
fail

behold extern proc
extern proc > !listen
seeker > !transmit Princess > !transmit seeker
extern proc > !behold seeker
extern proc > !behold Princess

!analyze Princess
success

I've always been good with languages.

net:
hndshk Princess
grope:
seeker > !attach Princess

Boy, you only have one thing on your tiny mind, don't you?

fail

So there was this guy, saying, wouldn't it be creepy if someone was listening to us right now—and of course I WAS listening to him! And I got to thinking, what if someone was listening to ME? And what if someone else was listening to THEM?

!analyze Princess
fail

behold extern proc 0
extern proc 0 > !listen Princess
behold extern proc 1
extern proc 1 > !listen extern proc 0
behold extern proc 2
extern proc 2 > !listen extern proc 1
recurse

!analyze Princess

Now do you get it?

creepy

Re: [UPDATE] The Princess & The Flea - 9/7

A couple things I wanted to point out:

Gretel.html, SP wrote:

(emphasis mine)

It could just be a joke, or maybe she's saying to us, "I'm not a Princess. You are making assumptions about me that are wrong. Keep an open mind."

I think she's saying there is still a hidden page somewhere on ILB. Maybe we can find it before she has to give us some clues? Gretel.html was waaaaay too easy to find, so maybe there's more out there. After all, Firefox got it within four minutes of the update just by guessing.

Ok, this could just be a thought that really is similar to Jersey's, but it seems odd. I [SPEC] that this is forshadowing, and we will soon see a new AI that's been lurking all along.

Or maybe it's a polite rebuttal to the ARG/ARS thread, asking us to calm down just a bit and enjoy the ride (I don't think so because that's a fairly big ripple in the curtain, and Jersey's wav was surely taped long before the game even started).

Still, it's odd that they would be breaking down the fourth wall. Not unheard of (Durandal did it at the end of Marathon Infinity by addressing the player's ability to respawn), just odd.

More signs that PF is adaptive to other's languages (but just a bit slow).

If only!

She changed the co-ord for candidate, on recipe3.html. "One of the Queen's secrets".. "behind the pantry".. looks like that's all there is to it.

Gotta love the SP.

Basically what she said implies that Durga is the Queen.

Thanks for the summary Mole, but I don't suppose you could back up with quotes/interpretation why you think that?

Actually, that should be Mellisa is the Queen...

Mellisa=Queen in one easy quote.

I guess what I'd like to see in the main update thread for this update is: How did you find gretel.html? Gotta leave some bread crumbs behind you, guys... Smile

Mm, breadcrumbs.

Okay, a summary: New words were hidden in the images which, when strung together, revealed a riddle. The answer to the riddle was gretel.html. For information on what the words were, and the riddle itself, see the puzzle thread. There ends the public service announcement.

Tommy04, I'm afraid that we already worked that out quite a long time ago, though it's always good to have some more evidence. (I can't really suggest you search, because searching for 'Melissa' and 'Queen' is just going to be silly Smile)

Actually, I've had some doubts about Queen/Melissa ... but that's for a whole other thread Wink ... all we have here is evidence that SP is still spying on Queen.

I'm not sure why this bit is getting so much play. I had thought it was really just a shout out to the fact that Durga was listening to people and we, in turn, were listening on Durga. She doesn't realize it because we're really just listening to Durga's own recordings. It feels like the PMs are trying to push us look harder at this, but since we don't really have any puzzles right now ... I'm not sure of the point.

The pantry thing makes me wonder if there's another page we've missed, yes ... maybe this is a clue for that?

The Flea has never been able to do:

Code:
!analyze princess

Without failing before now. Could this be a problem?

!analyze

I don't think so, because the only reason flea could analyze here is because SP spoke its language. And !analyze fail seems to just be it saying "I don't understand." No real cause for concern.

BTW, can a mod lock the thread that Sherpa mentioned, and possibly combine the spec conversation over there to over here?

I just wanted to drop in what spec was being discussed in the puzzle thread on gretel.html, to consolidate the two (and because those people will probably be coming over here now).

Extern proc 2 is the label the princess uses at the end. I think she is telling us there is another enitity inside the computer, we only had extern proc 0 and 1 before. Those were the flea and the princess. She says it is another spy program, so I wonder if this is Durga? Although it doesn't seem right.

She doesn't say it's another spy program. She says she found another spy-spot not bot. I think it's in reference to the coordinates moving.

But I see what you're saying as regards another process running.

At first blush, I took it to mean that we are listening to the SP and someone is listening to us.

--john--

The extern proc 2 thing might hint to another .wav file maybe involving Durga finding out that others actually ARE listening to her and Jersey's conversations. As of now it's just [SPEC], but I guess we'll just have to get more hot axons to figure anything else out.

I have a question, if the SP is so disgusted by the flea, then why is she talking to him at all, especially since he seems to be on the Queen's side?

A great point with the extern proc 2...one more reason to suspect a lurking process?

Going out on a limb here, back in Basic I learned that in programming a ! before what you want to say is a comment. Therefore, programmers drop those in to explain what they were doing, as seen in the program below:

!Going to make the computer print a word on the screen
PRINT "Hello, fools."
END

The first sentence wouldn't appear in the final program, it's just there for color.

Also, anything that's text without a ! is a variable, which would label something. We don't know what it labels, therefore the comments could help us understand. But in the fleas case, variables define people or other objects.

So... if we take his quotes and use the comment idea...

Creepy.

It seems more likely that the SP is talking about how WE are listening to her/Queen/PF, and that someone else is listening to US, most likely the PM's. Doesn't that make a lot more sense than adding a new character from out of the blue?
