It confuses me, too. Doesn't it seem like there's a cut shortly after the arm squeeshes his head, though? It could be that something happened and caused him to reset the tape, to tape over that one part? I don't know, it was probably discussed at length in the #22 thread.

That's true. It didn't catch me as odd at the time because there had been cuts throughout that whole scene where Alex is speaking. That in itself is odd, though. What's he cutting out?

Also, after the arm thing and the cut he seems to be of the same disposition and hasn't moved, which is also weird.
I dunno. I'm just not totally convinced that what happened there happened to Alex in real-time. Couldn't it be editing? He did say the camera had been taken. He woke up in the house with just the tape.

Yeeeeeap. And one that I, amazingly enough, cannot finish, despite having logged hundreds of hours on all sorts of spooky/frightening video games.

I've never been able to gather up enough courage to even -start- playing that game.

Seriously? Well then, I may waste some time dicking around there. XD Do you HAVE to have your webcam on? I was just browsing the terms and the thought of having my picture snapped kind of bothers me. o.o

You don't need to have a webcam or a microphone. (They each play a part in one of the puzzles, but you can disable them and it'll choose a different format.)

If you get past the second one, you're better than I am. Shocked

I watched the intro or whatever it was. Then there was some room with creepy ass children in it that jumped out at me and sdflksjdfklsjfd.

Not sleeping tonight. But it's so tempting to go back. ;_;

Bah, I got to the flashlight part where zombies come out and... do something? I don't know? Defend myself from being attacked...? The imagery didn't bother me that much, but I couldn't be arsed to figure out why I was supposed to shine a shitty malfunctioning flashlight on deformed people. XD Maybe when my patience is less shot all to hell...

I just rewatched entry 1 and i noticed that instead of complete silence, there is that airy sound that cameras record when it's quiet. it goes on through the entire video, even during the narration slides. probably nothing really important, i just don't remember it the first time i watched it.

Oh god Entry 1 just got a HUNDRED TIMES MORE CREEPY. It actually sounds like waves to me, like a beach with a rough tide or a waterfall.

Also, I forgot to turn down my speakers when I clicked the Hotel link and... not fun. I don't think I'll be moving for the rest of the night sob.

 Lightless world of Slender Man??
down in the depths. . .

Regarding these ponderings about light and darkness reminds me of something I learned from Jaques Cousteau.

In the depths of the sea, and perhaps in some caves (recalling the Morlocks) are creatures which never see any sunlight, and have evolved different ways of sensing their surroundings. Many of these have, it is suggested, lost the need for eyes and therefore have evolved away from that feature, leaving eyeless creatures in the dark where they belong. They don't belong in the world of daylight and would be awkward and uncomfortable here under the sky. Perhaps light could not bother them as they would have no feeling about it, or if their eyes were only atrophied so far, it could hurt them.

Perhaps Slender Man is from a lightless world; instead of turning off the lights to hide from Slendy, what if Alex was accommodating him?

Meh, probably more bosh. Thanks Dray for your reasonable responses.
Say, also, I noticed a heart the other day, lying on the dance floor. Do you know someone who might have lost theirs? There are initials on it. ID the initials and I'll email it back to you.

Haha, that was completely awesome. Thanks!

It sounds more like wind to me, like wind rushing past the car. That was how I interpreted it. Then again, the lack of engine sounds is strange. It also doesn't explain why the noise suddenly changes (it gets quieter) at :54.

Maybe it's just a background noise added to create atmosphere?

Edit to clarify.

Wait wait wait. That's crazy talk! (Actually, it just blew my mind, thinking that Alex was either consciously or inadvertently helping Slendy... it does seem odd that he'd leave the lights on while he slept, and then turn them off when he was going down to check on the house's surroundings. Wouldn't turning the lights off alert whoever was watching that there was a change in pattern, thus offering some kind of invitation?)

As for Slendy being an eyeless lord of the underworld... I don't know. I suppose I could see that, but why on earth the business suit?! XD It seems weird that he'd go to that sort of effort when he can't see (or at least sense) in the same way that humans can, you know?

It seems that he does use his head to perceive things, just the way that he regards people and peers into windows (for example, in the earlier episodes where he's stalking Alex around his house!) suggests to me that even if he doesn't have eyes, he's still using his head!

Eyeless perceptions?
!

Hi Dray,
Yes, crazy is true. However, I'm giving crazy a try for a while while reasonable takes the weekend off.
However, it may indeed be inadvertant aid or cooperation--not because Alex is an ambassador for the SlenderWorld's visiting dignitaries.
Perhaps Slendy's 'head' is not really a head as we have them, but a sort of antenna for sensory purposes?
*boing boing boing* Dunce {jumping on my own personal shark}

Moreover, Dray, I know this is not a full ARG, but as it's my first time playing any ARG it's my 'first impression' ARG experience, and my template. For myself, I want to play so I can just understand the intentions of the team making the game; it's not because I desire to actually influence the game play.
Really, since I haven't played others, I am not aware that that even happens, though your comment leads me to think it does--ergo the term "chaotic fiction" as in "the PMs cannot fully control how the story goes?? Interesting! I am checking out other games like Jejune, Junko, Zombies, etc. to a certain extent. I thought the distinction was only that instead of finding and interpreting clues online (virtual clues and websites) the clues were sometimes found in the real physical world, such as San Francisco's office buildings and church for Jejune. What else is commonly done, I wonder? (I am lazy but will investigate this question myself, though any responses to this semi-rhetorical question would be welcomed!)

Sorry, just a reference to friend Arison's customary signature line. Trailhead not ready just yet.

P.S. Our kind sponsors today are www.kellenquest.com. I checked it out. It appears that they've been rolling about a month and so far the forum seems rather sound-of-crickets-like. Not sure yet how much fun it will be, but as a friendly gesture to "Jake" and "Dr. Kellen" I would like to encourage the forumeers here to check it out and consider playing along. I have theories as to where it's going. "Jake" is personally in touch with me (as the forum seems to have only 6 members and three are in-game characters!!) and so there may be some real player-character interaction here. At least I hope to encourage these PMs who may be new to this. . .in a kind of pay it forward way as I will be in their shoes next year.

Please also note that while my recent posts are rather flakyish on second viewing, I am NOT merely posting randomly to increase my post count and all that. I am just letting my imagination wander. My imagination gets cabin fever stuck in that apartment so long and trekking around to a hotel or two stretches the mental legs. Plus. . .it's all vaguely possible...

Best regards to you all, and high respect to all those who deserve it.

Hey, don't dolphins use that big fatty chunk on their foreheads -- mellons, I think -- in their process of echolocation? As a focusing lens for sound or something. Maybe Slendy's the echolocating sort!

(lol, chasin' rainbows waiting for the next entry to come out.)

Tell the MH creators that! We're just the fanbase, it's our job to undermine their pedestal-tastic creation with our mediocre windbagging!

At least we haven't gone and chibified--- oh, wait. >_>

Eh heh.

I suppose that we could all pass around a flashlight to tell Slender Man related ghost stories while we wait. Razz Can't guarantee freshness, however.
