That'd explain the clicking that Rogue Wolf's hearing. Wink

Sayyyyy, that's some nice team thinking! I begin to feel less duncy, a bit. . .

smile for the deaf?

A deaf Slender Man would be pretty damned useless, in that case.

Anyways, maybe he perceives light or other electrical devices more in the way that we hear sound? Standing under a street lamp might be like putting your ear to a speaker. "WHAT IS THIS STRANGE THING?!" Boys running around with cameras would be like particularly annoying bees?!

(Argh, there's no indication that there's going to be an update tonight. :c I keep crossing my fingers but my loyal fangirlingness is flagging as the night wears on!)

Slendy's what happens when dolphins evolve thumbs? And legs?

and...uh, lose their faces?

Okay, none more of this from me. Dolphins, jeez!

In any case, I'm sticking to the theory that Slendy is a human-interface-attempt made by something that doesn't really understand what humans are all about. If whatever created Slenderman, be it himself building a body or some other so-far unforseen otherworldly source, came from a place without a need for sensory perception as we experience it, that could explain why he doesn't have facial features quite neatly too.

And GnomonRose, I would so take part in a game that you were PM for. Surprised

I LOVE encouragement. Helps my self-confidence no end. Thank you!

I for one really like your ideas on Slendy as a non-grokking nonhuman character.
I think of the Shape from the John Carpenter Halloween series (specifically Halloween 1, the original one) when he kills some guy up against a wall with his knife, and as the poor wretch is just hangin' there he kind of pauses to stare at the thing pinned on the wall, and turns his head to the side like a pigeon or chicken, as if trying to make sense of it--so uncanny in the Freudian way!

EDIT: Oh boy oh boy! Thanks, Dray!! "This Too Shall Pass" (as the time comes for me to say "OK, Go!")
(small little cute joke)

That sounds like pretty much exactly it. Crap, that sounds creepy...

Huh? What Heinlein reference??

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I grok now. I have incorporated that into my working vocabulary and therefore didn't recall that it was a reference to that wonderful novel Stranger in a Strange Land, which everyone here should read. (lit teacher plugging great literature here; don't mind me!)
Thanks again!

J leading TTA to the ark
yet another notion

Since presumably J has no idea about how he could possibly know what the ark is or how to reach it, he presumably doubts that TTA's statement of ###### could be true.

However, it sounds like TTA believes this. So what explanations exist?

1. TTA has information from the future and that history records (where is Sarah Connor?) that J did do this.
2. TTA has been told this and he believes in fate...perhaps told by SM.
3. The ark is not a place, but instead a kind of state of mind?? and his blackouts are periods where he can go there. SM can allow TTA to 'follow' this mental journey.

For 1 and 2, then, the flight and hotels etc. could be the 'preordained' trek to the ark that they've been waiting for. And why TTA was frustrated at J's inertia.

And maybe the statement about being "gone" (already goofily conjectured to have been made in the future!) indicates that those 'goners' (yeh) are at that future time already there.

After the trip started and J was on the move there was an....
arkward silence...

Pleh. Rolling Eyes

or "the ark" is a term for Arkansas State University, and Slendy's no damn good with maps.
Yeah, that sounds right. He can't see maps without eyes, and Masky has obstructed vision. They're going to an improv show for Spring Fever (with a great performer in the cast!).

Hope you like my new avatar. 'Ave two tars. . . they're small.

I think that you may be really stretching, there. ;P

Though it does raise the point of 'how does Masky know that the ark exists without knowing where it is'. Which of course begs the question, 'what the eff is the ark?'

I keep telling you guys, Slender Man = The Ark.

Or something. I haven't checked this thread for more than a week, so I don't know what we're discussing at the moment.

I don't know if we're discussing anything extremely relevant anymore. Presumably the team is taking the route of "things are happening that aren't being uploaded, but may be uploaded in the aftermath" rather than finding reasons to post semi-regularly as they have in the past. Either that, or they're dropping the continuity of uploads with real time. Or else Jay really is getting some serious down time that is not worth noting via twitter or with a video upload.

As for Slendy == the ark, Jay's already been shown to hang out with him in Return, so I pimp-slap your theory, good sir. I pimp-slap it with a brick-filled glove. XD

Perhaps Slender Man is from a lightless world; instead of turning off the lights to hide from Slendy, what if Alex was accommodating him?

Wait wait wait. That's crazy talk! (Actually, it just blew my mind, thinking that Alex was either consciously or inadvertently helping Slendy... it does seem odd that he'd leave the lights on while he slept, and then turn them off when he was going down to check on the house's surroundings. Wouldn't turning the lights off alert whoever was watching that there was a change in pattern, thus offering some kind of invitation?)

This may not be worth saying, but I always thought the lights were being turned off for a much more mundane reason. Ever tried looking out of a window when it's really dark outside? You can see a lot more/further when it's dark inside, too. I thought Alex was just letting his eyes adjust to the darkness or avoiding glare from the light on the glass to facilitate filming...

It bothered me for a while because as you both said, turning off the lights is an obvious change in behaviour - something that SM would presumably be able to see from outside. This was the only reasonable explanation I could think of for why Alex would do that.

That's a reasonable point. Thanks, Guest.

Yes, true too. Glad to get your input.

You're welcome. : ) I'd have made an account but... I don't think I generally have much to contribute. While I really like the theory that SM's somehow connected with electricity, I just thought that was one step too far. ;;

Anyway, I really enjoy reading everyone's speculation and theories on what's going on. Keep being crazy-awesome, guys. : D *goes back to lurking*
