It's definitely not a door being ripped off at the beginning, friends.

For one, it's exactly in between two side by side windows which means there is either a thick wall dividing two apartments (this is most likely, based on the layout) or else a normal wall dividing two different rooms in the same apartment. Two, if you look at the height of the windows, there are small, low-set windows for the bottom floor semi-underground apts with normal sized windows above them and the 'door' is right in between those, too. Basically, there would be a floor at about chest height right there, which would place the door at the worst ever location for a door, at the thickest possible junction of floors and walls, like so:

Basically, the placement of the 'door' where it looks to be makes absolutely no sense from a building perspective, and we are most likely seeing the back of the apartment. I'm currently sitting in an apartment in a building that looks to be almost exactly like that one, and the wall of my apt that looks like the one in the video is the back, directly opposite the entry side.

Thirdly:

There is absolutely no kind of doorway / entrance to be seen after the 'door' is removed, it looks more like a burn or ash smudge. The dark spot is only like a foot wide, nobody's getting into that apartment through that unless by some kind of Enigma of Amigara Fault mirace / horrendous accident. Like people have said, it's probably a burned out door from elsewhere that's just lying there or a piece of the roof that fell down. It looks like a tiny piece of plywood, it rotates as it's going down and you can see that it's really, really thin. I really don't think there's any significance to it, just someone clearing junk away.

On the other hand, I think it's definitely Slendy watching the fire, it looks like he's just standing there with his hands sort of crossed in front of him like this:

Not to give any significance to his pose, that's just the best example I could find of that particular stance. If anything it looks like he's just standing back and admiring his (or maybe someone else's) handiwork. The video gets messed up RIGHT as the camera is going behind him, too. But it doesn't seem right that he's just standing there casually among a huge crowd of people. Like nobody would notice a creepy, silent, faceless giant hanging out back there.

Hmm.

this was a kind of lame entry, the creators just taped a news broadcast i guess and SSSH ed out the place names. obviously it would be impossible for them to make this themselves - they wouldn't go to the effort to hire a few middle age actors and stage a fire with a bunch of people in a crowd and fire trucks and such. they still might have edited a slender man in somewhere, i guess :\

I think it's a way of telling a story on a budget.

I hate to say this, but Marble Hornets makes me (in a good way) want to create my own story around Slender man. And I've thought about editing a local news story in pretty much the same way.

Of course now, I can't do it because it's already been done. But it does fit with the SM myth.

I'm actually sort of blown away haha. This answers some questions. It looks like a door from somewhere else and the guy just knocks it over.

This confirms that Sighting #1 is not a Slender slighting, unless we're supposed to believe it is.

Of note is that the footage they used for the second "segment" that includes Sighting #2 is not from that broadcast; I believe this makes it more likely that Sighting #2 is supposed to be Slendy.

Then the roof was added in later, we still don't know where the "home footage" came from.

Shiiiit. Nice find. It's still possible that we're supposed to believe that person is Slender Man, though. Just...kinda unlikely.

Yeah, that report is definitely the one they used.

The only thing though? The scene with Slendie possibly watching the fire isn't in the real one.

Edit: Huh, it appear I was REALLY slow in posting this. About 2 hours too late.

So I'll just make this post worthwhile by saying that the original newscast (or the video itself) does seem a bit offsync at the end.

I'm pretty sure that the tall thing isn't a tree or lamp post, but Slendy. From about 1:04 - 1:10 I sorta of see a possible hand movement. Assuming he's facing the fire, his right hand, about level with the man in front of him's head.

I circled it.

I'm trying really hard to make out a Slendy figure from screenshots/video, but I'm just not seeing it.
But that's been the case for me with a lot of videos where SM definitely did make an appearance. I've never been very good at Where's Waldo.

I played back both videos and synced the audio to listen for differences. Unlike the names/places that are bleeped out, the name of the person who shot the home video is cut out entirely. Also, the audio is slowed down near the end.

It is apparent that the "home footage" has been swapped out, but since it shows a fire taking place it's hard to believe they filmed it themselves.

J's filming of the television adds a lot of cropping to the footage - stuff like two people holding a pink umbrella cannot be seen in this entry (which would probably have ruined the mood of the clip). The news channel number is cropped out using the same method.

I had speculated earlier that the background trees were edited to look like Slenderman, but they look like that in the original footage too. The colorization and contrast enhancement of the footage added to this effect. Other than the color changes, cropping, bleeping and resident's name removal, slowdown near the end, and home footage segment, I didn't notice any other alterations of the original footage.

I tend to not make a big deal about these things, mostly because any of these could be a red herring meant to throw us off track. The way I'm looking at it, it's nothing more than someone lighting his house on fire.

Also, regarding the tipster, Jay made it clear that the one who told him to go to the house was anonymous, while with the News it was someone he knows.

I had a thought.

What if this was Slendy's way of persuading J to go back to The House?

I wonder if we'll ever find the original footage of the fire at night. All of the Meadowview fire shots are during the day, so I went looking on youtube for "apartment fire night."

You know what?
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
SLENDER MAN IS IN ALL OF THEM!

If you just look hard enough.
