You know, I found two impossible axons today, too. One of the Phantom Beekeepers and I were out looking for the ones in our area, and two (at the same spot) were where there used to be a cafe on the University Campus while the SUB was being renovated. But that got finished last summer, and the cafe was taken out, with the phones. So
11:17 (raffle) Long: -106.620110 Lat: 35.083850 and
08:17(break_em) Long: -106.620920 Lat: 35.085850
won't be gotten at all.

Actually, I was the one who got the Lemont axon. I drove up from Joliet. It was the payphone inside the public library.
Rather exciting, I hadnt gotten an axon before, and I hadnt heard yet that the passcode was no longer Melissa/Operator + filename. So when she asked me what ship I was assigned to, I had to think fast.

Glad to have finally nailed an Axon.

SF Axon Update

SF axon update:
13:03 - HOT
Got there with 7 min to spare. I guarded the phones like a rabid animal. I was going to let NO ONE touch my phones! Luckily no one felt my wrath today... All the phones I hit today were sets of two phones facing up or down Market. This one was the phone facing southwest. It rang. I answered "Aocalypso". After the incredibly long wait, I heard surgeon_general (I must say there weren't any juicy bits of info this one). Said repeat twice before I realized I had less than two minutes to get to the next phone! Said "Continue, but I figured "aw screw it, it's probably the same cacphony of "I love bees!" and I took off.

13:07 - HOT
No one at phones when I arrived. Sweet. Once again I guarded them closely. Again the southwest facing phone rang. Same question from Melissa, same answer from me. Had a little more time to listen to this audio file as it was the same one from the previous phone (surgeon_general).

13:17 - HOT
I arrived with much time to spare. Again, guarded phones like a rabid animal (minus foaming at the mouth Smile ). Then another beekeeper showed up! I'm sorry, I totally forgot your forum name! We both covered the phones and when the northeast phone rang, she answered it gave the requisite answer and I got to hear surgeon_general for the third time today!

13:29 - HOT
Arrived at the infamous 777 Market St. phones. I knew which phone it was since I was there last week. The appointed time comes......no ring! So the other beekeeper picks up the other phone thinking that maybe it didn't ring but the call is coming through. I do exactly what she did and there is Melissa on the other line. Same drill, answer question, etc. Smile (I would've been dead in the water without you, thank you!). Unfortunately, she was trying for the 13:37 that was 10 blocks away, so she had to leave and didn't get a chance to hear this audio file. domestic_skills was a little more interesting and I'll post the transcript/paraphrase in just a bit.

13:03, 13:07, 13:17 and 13:29 are HOT thanks to team SF! Good luck everyone!

RD

got it!

a couple of guys who could have been beekeepers in the parking lot walking towards a phone very close to the actual gps coords... but i stuck with my gut instinct and went into the theater, explained to the kid i was part of a "nation-wide internet scavenger hunt" and waited

the place was dead, but i could barely hear thanks to the blaring movie trailers that echoed in the lobby, i recorded it, but you can't really hear anything

How is the name "apolcolypse" pronounced?
The Davis Beekeepers went to answer "never_right_again" but i believe that apocolypso was pronounced wrong because it didn't seem to pick up the word.
is it "ah-pah-cah-lip-so?"
is it "ah-poe-coe-lips-oh?"
is it "ay-poco-lip-so?"
what's the right way to say it because we have a beekeeper returning tomorrow to answer the phone again.

ah-pah-kah-lips-o

like a combination of "apocalypse" and "calypso"

[Matt still asserts that Apolalypso would make a great name for a Carribean death-metal band]

Seems like there's a trend in the axon listings...

link.html, hivekuts.html, and now fable.html

Wonder if the next set will be located on comatas.html?

14:41 your_fault axon in OKC is hot. Kind of a late report about nothing but wanted to get it out there anyway. Got to the site about 30 minutes early, so my wife and I decided to grab a bite to eat since it happened to be inside this country kitchen type place. It was pretty easy to spot the other beekeepers in there seeing as how we were about 1/4 the age of anyone else in there. Melissa rang right on time and the guy I met at the restaraunt (sorry man, I can't for the life of me remember your user name) picked up the phone, gave the name of the ship, and got the spiel. He repeated it so I could hear it and then we got the usual "hardware problems, i love bees" thing. Nothing to note really except that contrary to other theories, there was absolutely nothing bee related in the area, unless you count the yellow handset for the payphone. That's it for this time. Hopefully we'll pick up a couple more axons on the next wave.

i_durga

For those who are interested in what the i_durga one said, I got the 15:29pm hot.

Its another conversation between durga and (jersey?)

Basically Jersey is convincing Durga not to tamper with bank accounts that relate to the national and local governments.
He goes into saying... now promise me durga... repeat after me "i durga will not tamper with government bank accounts..." "local or national..."
he has her promise not to do a bunch of stuff involving money getting put in his account... durga says jersey's famous "daaammnnn" line... which made my day Razz

going for the 7:01am AXON... daaaammnnn thats early!!!
