On the "[LIVE EVENT] Encom Conference?" thread, Euchre mentioned meeting up at Vaillancourt Fountain. I think that works. Like at 5-6 PM? I don't even mind going earlier.
What do you guys think?
I think its a great idea... do you have a hard address for the location?

Please note, there's now an official rally point for all Flynn Lives members, so if you'd like to have the uF folks meet, you should do so before that. Here's the official FL info from another post:

socalsteve: I'll be driving up myself to SF, hope to go Thursday morning to visit some friends. Sorry I can't participate in the carpool, since I'm not sure about my schedule ... But if any rides within the Bay Area are needed for Friday, I might be able to work something out!
Euchre: Yeah, the official rally point is good. It would be nice to have the uF folk grouped together as well! I'm guessing there will be a bunch of people just hanging around the Hyatt, maybe we should just meet up there as well. I plan to get there by 5, if not early, to check out the crowd. I'll make a post on the "[LIVE EVENT]" thread to get more thoughts.
Also, I'm trying to see if I can make some simple picket signs, and thinking of some catchy/fun sayings. Maybe some refs to TRON (like "End of line!" or "Bring in the logic probe!") or more plays on "Flynn Lives". Any thoughts?

You are approaching the sayings as if the events within the original film are public knowledge - they are not. The 'logic probe' (which I'm not sure is an accurate quote) statement was made inside the computer world. The "End of Line" statement is what the MCP said of course, but such is not evident to the outside world either. The only concepts that 'leaked' to the outside world of Flynn's experience within the computer world were what you see in the Tron video game. The snag there is that Flynn put things into the game he never explained to anyone. Even Bradley doesn't really understand why Flynn called him Tron. Apparently he never told anyone about his experiences inside the computer world.
If you aren't familiar, the idea here is to practice TINAG - This Is Not A Game . The idea here is to keep context and behave like the world of the film is real. When you participate in these events, you aren't peering through the 4th wall like in a film, you are within those 4 walls. Also, don't confuse this with trying to pull our real world into the 4 walls.
The TINAG idea is what should guide how the people going to the conference should behave, including our 'covert van' of infiltrators.

Ahh, got it. Will keep that all in mind. Thanks, Euchre!
(As you can probably tell, I'm very much new to all this, but would like to help and participate in all this as much as I can. Thank for clearing that all up!)

LETS DO SOME MAGIC - We've tracked down your badge and have it completed and in our possession. Should we bring it to San Francisco? If you don't make the drive, we'll mail it on Saturday to Texas.
FLYNN LIVES!

it is. when dumont is letting tron use the I/O tower Sarg calls in the logic probe at full power.
as for the rest of your statement, good call.

I'm quite familiar with the scene, and to this day I'm not sure if he's saying 'logic probe' or 'lodging probe'. Hadn't gone to too much effort to determine what was the case. The former is actually a real world device , which to me would seem a little out of context for a program. The latter just sounds like a brute force device to open something. Not sure if the folks doing the writing were trying to sound geeky or what.
At any rate, it's the wrong context for a sign indeed. Don't suppose anyone who was at the Flynn's Arcade event and played Space Paranoids remembers any of the dialog (if there was any, audible or displayed text) from the game?

There were a few audio quotes given, at the same time as the codes. The wiki lists them here . Other than that, I don't recall any other audio/text, but then I have a terrible memory for minor details, so I wouldn't be surprised if there was.

BUMP
Anyone still trying to work something out to get to the event please list yourself here and now.
Anyone with additional seats to fill, please list them now.
In addition, as a reminder, get online in the chat room at 7pm, pacific time TODAY to work out any final details!
In addition, anyone departing from the Los Angeles region (or between LA and SF on the 101 freeway), Steve's van is full, but I will look into a larger van rental if there is a demand for it.

RETOX got me looking and i found a larger van. its a bit more expensive, but if we have at lease 2 more people chiping in on the ride, it'll come out to about the same $50-$55.
MasterLuke, Confusion.... you two want in? anyone else?

mostly couch surfing. Kira has room for most of us. hopefully she'll be on the conference tonight to confirm she has room for you too.
