Just goes to show, never underestimate how many nerds there are... Laughing

I thought they would have a cut off date and would stop taking orders, at this rate there is no end in sight and they are bleeding money making these badges. Granted, I don't know their budget and perhaps they do indeed have a set dollar amount assigned to making these things that they wont go over, but you could easily spend $5-10 producing one of these badges (if not more...*Cough* holo foil stamp *cough*), and that's not counting the other costs like the lanyard production or shipping and handling costs.

shipping and handling alone puts the cost through the roof, relatively speaking... you can't really mass-mail individual items to locations around the world the same you can mass-produce objects on a line for cheaper.

In terms of a global marketing campaign, the cost of postage isn't really astronomical. Given an estimate of $2 per badge sent out in postage (it's less than that, even internationally, so we're rounding up for fairness), each thousand recipients is $2000. Not a huge amount.

Cost of production probably isn't a huge amount either - as you rightly say, it's probably a bulk discount on these, even with the holofoil and individualisation. I've got no estimate for that, though.

Thus "relatively speaking" (in terms of grassroots - obviously corporate level that's generally chump change) but it still needs to be accounted for, and I'd bet for the approved budget, postage for any free swag takes up a significant chunk of it. Don't forget taxes as well, and I'd wager it can easily avg over $2 each, but I have no baseline for it Smile let's send each other our badges and we can compare local mailing prices =P

But ya, it's still costly stuff being sent out for free. Not an easy thing to propose in a budget with no guaranteed return on investment outside "word of mouth" and potential fanship. Smile

Was there really no mention of an end date for badge submission? I thought there was... *shrug*

I still have not received mine at all. I sent 42 entertainment an e mail with no response. Any ideas on how to get it without creating a new Flynn Lives profile under a different e mail

I can't believe I have to do it, but I'm looking to do a forgery of a forgery. There are a few okay pics in the threads, but a decent scan would help a lot. Would anyone feel like PMing me a front/back scan (redacted as you see fit, of course) of their badge?

ETA Oh yeah. And measurements too? Thanks

You mean Rob's really huge scans weren't big enough? Razz

(If you want to know the forum-fu to making your images fit in a standard 1024x768 screen, use the code below:

Code:
<img height="0" width="720" src="http://url.ext">
[url=http://url.ext]Click here for full size[/url]

Use whatever tool you wish to figure out what height should be if your image is proportionally [evenly] scaled to 720 pixels width. Replace the zero with that number, and your URL where appropriate, and tada! Screen friendly goodness with access to your full sized image.)
