[TV] South Park Lampoons Facebook With 'Tron' New episode this week! Just saw them update the official SouthParkStudios ( http://www.southparkstudios.com ), and this time,, on the new episode, entitled 'You Got 0 Friends', they are lampooning the whole 'new annoying Tech American pasttime' of harassing friends to 'friend' them on Facebook and get sucked into social communities. But the wrinkle twist here is they are using elements of TRON as a comic device, looks interesting, check out the press release and a short clip from the new episode of South Park airing this coming Wednesday at 10pm on Comedy Central:

He certainly does, I guess when Stan get sucked into Facebook, he has to fight some MCP of the social community to FINALLY confirm 'friending' Kyle. By the way, here are download links to 2 press pictures from the episodes, bigger 'Tron Stan' and it looks like they are also fooling around with Cartman as 'Jim Cramer' from Mad Money:

And yes, you are correct, this is the 2nd time they have made fun of TRON, the first time was back in 1999, in Season 3 of South Park, in the episode "Jewbilee", which it interested you can watch that whole episode on SouthParkStudios at the following link:

Tron Guy was also parodied on South Park, as well as a sleuth of other internet famous people.

OK, ok, I get the point, I'm not as abreast with every little itty bitty Tron reference that South Park has done in the last 14 seasons, I'm only human. Anyway, the new 'Tron heavy' episode, 'You have 0 Friends', as just aired and was surprisingly hilarious. You can watch the complete episode starting midday tomorrow at South Park's Official Site at:

Especially loved the part where Cartman, in trying to find Kyle some new friends OUTSIDE of Facebook, used ChatRoulette to troll for some and just kept getting 'dick'! Woo Hoo!

Moses was portrayed in the episodes "Jewbilee" and "Super Best Friends" as the MCP. The episode was pretty good in my opinion because A) Facebook is the cancer that is killing the internet, and 2) the Tron subplot pretty much follows an abridged version of the storyline of Tron, save for the referrences to Facebook and, well, the "South Park-ness" of it all.

They're re-airing it as I type this on Comedy Central.
What I find particularly amusing is that when he gets pulled in to the game grid, they use the actual vector graphics they had in the original Tron .

I must say that I really liked this episode of South Park. Stan looked quite good with his tron suit on. I think it was a great Tron parody overall

Hehe I've not seen this yet (although it's maybe not been on in the UK yet), will look forward to it. I don't have the CS chanel though but I think Paramount show new South Park in the UK and/or those chanels merged over here?
Family Guy have done some good Tron references in the past too, although not whole episodes around it ala Star Wars/Blue Harvest.

Unfortunately, that link doesn't work in the UK - it redirects to the UK version of the southparkstudios site, which has all of 5 episodes on it. All pretty old, from the looks of it.
