Mysterious USB drive (GKNOVA6) COD: Black Ops ARG/viral IGN.com posted a article on their site about a mysterious USB drive that it and other gaming outlets have just recently received, and contain a audio file and text document. Quoting the article from http://ps3.ign.com/articles/108/1081856p1.html :
Quote:
A bunch of gaming outlets were sent USB drives with no return address today. The only information on the drive appears to be a MP3 file with a cryptic audio message and a text document. Little help?
When viewing the audio file in Microsoft Word, these lines of code are revealed.
00000000 00000210 00000825 000000000037474B 00000000 0016FDA0 00000000 00000000 00000000 00000000 00000000 00000000TCON
A person on the audio file reads out the letters below:
MOD ZZZ JNQRYD3FRP
The separate word document also only has these six words posted.
Cryptography
Isotope
Philanthropy
Hydrogen
Ember
Rebirth
links to the audio file and text document are below:

It's interesting, I could swear near the end there's something else said in slow motion.

A simply ROT of that last part (including the number) gives you a website where similar audio is played

Hell I'm in.
So this gknova6.com
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Starts with a strange 8 bit tune (don't recognise it) then a quote from
Francis Bacon: Men have sought to make a world from their own conception and to draw from their own minds all the material which they employed
Then the two voices go on to simply recite N-o-v-a-s-i-x towards the end the male voice says something that sounds like 'Hell is purple' ??
Using my google-fu on 'hell is purple' throws up the site
purplehell.com
a site which calls itself the No.1 resource for online riddle solving tools
The plot thickens....
here we go!

The two voices on gknova6.com take staggered turns at reciting the letters, and they pause every 5 characters. This suggests another cipher. I'm wondering if it might be something like Baudot code, but nothing is jumping out at me yet.

There is only one problem I can see though because at the beginning of the reciting they only say N-O-V before doing what you say.

Might be a Baconian cipher. The text document's an acrostic, by the way.

I'm sorry, I'm a bit confused as to how "novasix" could be Baconian Text. From what I can tell that cipher is made up of nothing but A's and B's. If anyone could explain that to me how this works it would be much appreciated. Thank you very much.

For the record, the Google Analytics number on the GKNova6 site ends in 29... That means that whoever's running this has 28 other websites they're running Google Analytics for.
In other words, this isn't a newcomer or a fly by night operation. Heck, *I* only have nine sites on GA.
