[UPDATE] Dana's blog (9/7)

Dana has updated her blog again. This entry is entitled "six degrees of," and it describes her (ultimately unsuccessful) efforts to find out whether people she knows -- in places that are far, far away from China -- know anyone who lives in Alaska, Kentucky, Montana, or anyplace else where we're having trouble answering phones.

In other words: even if you don't live there, and you don't know anyone who lives there, maybe you know someone who knows someone who...

Here's where we get into the "viral marketing" aspect of ILB.
Of course, now you have to tell someone, or a friend of a friend, about the site... which will inevitably lead back to Bungie/MS.

This is where it's supposed to spread further. By giving us axons in places they are pretty sure we don't have players, we are forced to bring others into the game ( and thus into the campaign ) if we want to continue.

I say we should try for another /. story. Now that there's something to do, more people might get involved.

Good ideas, first we should have handy a list of places where people are needed. Perhaps one that could (good luck) resist slashdotting.

Hey she may not be trying to find new players, although that does sound plausable.
However, I know of at least two people in the Western Montana area (myself and at least one other person) who are close to the Ronan node. anybody else know of people near those other nodes. perhaps she is trying to point out rural nodes. the chances of finding payphones in more rural loactions is better since the number of phones near coordinates are fewer and possibly blocked from incoming calls less often.

or maybe she is just looking for new places to explore when she gets back home? Dunno

FWIW, since Spacebass upgraded UnForum's server, it could withstand the /. affect at this point.

I wonder if this is to prepare us for some major Axon grief next week. (i.e. 7/7 required hot Axons )

Kevin Bacon has Seven Degrees, doesn't he? You can connect Kevin Bacon to any other actor/actress by a chain of co-stars?

That's right, except I think it's still six... Or less. Kevin Bacon has worked with just about everybody, so it's easy to get a short connection.

Example: I myself am three degrees from Keven Bacon.

But the point is... It's a small world. (And Kevin Bacon makes it smaller.)

Though I doubt anybody would call up Mr. Bacon and ask him if he's noticed any ringing payphones...
