Some updates, and a new puzzle! Very Happy

Btw, it seems to me that Mr. Priestly is in denial.

That would be me! Turns out the solution to the riddle was really:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Barnard College, one of the Seven Sisters colleges, located in Morningside Heights, Manhattan, New York.

I'm beginning to like this game more and more, and not just because I got in, after the new updates and going back and re-reading everything.

META ALERT:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
By the way, this game is an ARGlab 2.0 class project: http://www.argn.com/2010/04/return_of_the_arg_practicum_a_three_for_one_deal/

@E.Y.E. Spy

Congrats! And thanks for the META link. That was good to know, since i'm following one of the other games as well Smile Least now i know chances are that it won't be abandoned halfway without a proper ending like some other projects.

I just posted a comment with what I hope is the answer to the latest puzzle.

Congrats, E.Y.E. Spy and Good Luck.

Oh, I almost forgot, I noticed that Sally Ann's initials at the bottom of the memos are SAW.

It would appear you got it wrong Sylvia:

Quote:
"Dear Sylvia,
Such a nice sentiment. Nevertheless, you have answered incorrectly. Yes, this is a binary code, but it represents more than just a color. It represents the first temptation of man … of greed.

Good luck and Godspeed.

Regards,

Gerard Priestly

cc: SAW"

The thing about it not being just a colour for some reason made me think that was a clue, so I tried out the 195, 191, 4 in the custom colours thing in paint, and it gives a goldish yellow. I also tried googling the First Temptation of Man, which just gave me the old bible story of Adam and Eve - with the Golden Apples/Tree which they were forbidden to eat. Not sure if i'm even going in the right direction with this but something's better than nothing right?

Thanks Gadjilitron. I haven't had time to check the site just yet but it appears the color is #C3BF04 or #C3BF04

The first deadly sin from the seven deadly sins is Extravagance and I, too, am not sure this is the right direction. But it does seem to have something to do with Gold and the things that gold can acquire or the root of all evil. Anyway, I'll try gold and the root of all evil as the answer and see what happens.

From wikipedia: Seven Deadly Sins

Wikipedia wrote:
Extravagance

Main article: Extravagance

Extravagance (Latin, luxuria) is unrestrained excess. Extravagant behaviour includes the frequent purchase of luxury goods, and forms of debauchery.

In the Romance languages, the cognates of luxuria (the Latin name of the sin) evolved to have an exclusively sexual meaning; the Old French cognate was adopted into English as luxury, but this lost its sexual meaning by the 14th century.[7]

ETA: there is an update about Blue Apple Energy.

He awarded me with 200 points. Are you still with us E.Y.E. Spy? I will wait to hear from you then give my points to you.

My dearest Sylvia,

Congratulations! You solved the puzzle! As a prize I am awarding you 200 points. You may now give those points to any of the five players vying for the $10 billion cash prize (Michael, Luke, Ethel, Virginia Dean, or Leslie). Give the money wisely, because if the person you give the points to turns out to be the winner it is likely they will bequeath you millions.

I await your decision. Choose wisely.

Gerard Priestly

Never fear, I'm still alive! In fact, I just made a post on the "Give Money" page.

Thanks for the points, Sylvia! Nice solve, that one had me stumped at "gold".

Curious as to what's going to happen to Luke now that the Blue Apple Industries cat's out of the bag. Ironic how it was suppose to be eco-friendly according to him. Maybe the contestants are going to be eliminated one by one?

i checked out the page yesterday and decided to call up the phone number, i didn't leave a message.
today i got a call back at around 2 and Mr. gerard priestly left a message. and at 5 i called him back and talked to mr. gerard priestly. he is an interesting man and since i asked him about the nature of his contest he said something like this(i tried to take notes)
i am a simple old man and i am dying
i am also very very wealthy

And then he mentioned that throughout he life he had done much evil or many evil things and it seemed like he was trying to make up for it. I couldn't think of anything else to say so he said something like have a good day and i thanked him.

i've been wondering what he could have done that would be evil or possibly it's just an expression

He made his billions off of plating for armored vehicles and weapons use in wars to kill people. It's in the About page, and the first video, I think.

Assumptions: 5 numbers, 3 number, 4 number, 3 number, 3 numbers on each row. Final place had - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

So assuming it is a cryptogram. Going from that casting the numbers as letters then solving the cryptogram gives you: most likely none of these are the answer.

NIGHT GOD EASY EYE SHY
MIGHT GOD EASY EYE SHY
LIGHT GOD EASY EYE SHY
RIGHT GAL POSE PEP SHE
MIGHT GAL POSE PEP SHE
NIGHT GAL POSE PEP SHE
RIGHT GOD EASY EYE SHY
WORLD RUN EASY EYE SLY
MIGHT GAR POSE PEP SHE
RIGHT GAY POSE PEP SHE

Just Number to letters gives out:
NLIHC IEO ADGB ABA GHB
