grngecko's latest creation!
After failing to finish Torment, I had a look on grngecko's forums. Noticing a section of the forums dedicated to "Tunnels of Zürich", I sent an e-mail enquiring as to its nature. I received the following:

"Distance and time are not absolute but instead are affected by one's motion.

- Joh. Trit."

This came from Johannes Trithemius, a late 15th century abbot and occultist. I performed a little search and found a wiki page on him and his real name, Johannes Heidelburg. I replied, referring to his real name and received a further e-mail:

"To Whom It May Concern,

Due to dire circumstances I am forced to extend my sabbatical until
further notice.

- Joh. Trit.

Johannes Virdung de Hassfurt,

I interrupt my sabbatical with extreme urgency. It is of dire
consequence that I share with you my recent findings concerning the
demise our trusted messenger. For I have in my possession an encrypted
message which I fear may contain a journal of the last days. I have
studied the cyphers intently and now believe I am on the verge of
determining the proper solutions. Vide et credere. I request that you
review my notes and offer your judgment.

As we have long suspected there are mysterious strangers who seek the
message to benefit their own worldly deeds. The cypher must remain sub
rosa.

Worry not for I have concealed my scripts in a manner no one would
ever suspect. The contents are well protected by that charlatan and
impostor who dared to call himself fons necromanticorum, astrologus,
magus secundus chyromanticus agromanticus pyromanticus in hydra arte
secundus.

You must act with haste for I fear the strangers draw nearer with each
passing day.

Past the splash page on www.grngecko.com is a leather bound book (with a gecko on the front Razz). Navigating this book shows a couple of pages with links to deaddrop.cc, along with a link to a cipher program (perhaps to help us this time) and a cipher (which players of In From The Cold will recognise).

Anyway, shall we give this a crack to try and even the score after Torment? Very Happy

Which I have only started to try to decode. I've been out of play for a long time, like years, but I played Torment when it began and have been checking in since.

Have you started playing Tunnels of Zurich? Where should we begin - maybe finding a way into deaddrop.cc?

 		Well it's been a long damn time since i've been on here. I saw this and checked out greens' page. I figure the code is prolly a VIC. His forum holds two of the three pieces to solve it i think.VICs use a date, a song or quote and a random number usually hidden somewhere.Then it gets kinda complicated:) The song is the tolkein verse.The date is prolly the day he posted it.Now as to the random number well.........Also what language is the writing at the bottom of the pics? I can't seem to find it anywhere. For a second i thought it might be elvish from tolkein but i don't think it matches up

 		I don't know if this is a dead topic but i guess i'll throw this out there for any watching.The journal is a small version of the voynich journal.The writing being voynich language.There is a key that was made for this language a couple years back.The key however produces random letters and the ceaser cipher hidden on the page doesn't translate it to anything i speak:)There are two more hidden links on that page as well though.The source will give you what they are.Frankly since this page was made so much earlier than tunnels i don't even know if it's related.It may be a remnant from Torment...or it may not.

 		Anyone actually get started on this? I'm stuck on the carathis page where it gives my IP and says access denied.

I've tried various words in the "Google" box, but I'm not sure if I've exceeded my allotted attempts or what.

If I haven't, I'll keep trying.
