So this was a cute little game (go, little guy, go!). Had no problems running it, but I never got it to publish to FB and I never got a poster. I guess I'm not complaining, esp about the FB thing, but I'm wondering ifothers have similar problems. I was using firefox.

That poster looks epic. It's a shame that movie is being kept so hushed plot wise.

I'd love to play an ARG to "Inception" though... *cough*

Dan: yeah, when you beat it you get the following poster, with the option to post it to "notify your target", post it on your wall, or save to your facebook album. Otherwise, you can opt to play again.
EDIT: shrunk the file to reduce the load on the servers. For the half meg version, play through or check peoples' facebook walls.

I can confirm that- I even played 4 times (each time advancing a "level"). Each "reward" was the same. In game, you can view an additional poster as well as the trailer.

so there is this youtube video now. It was discovered by a member of the Nolan Fans forum when he searched for "Cpt Darren Bartel" after finding a poster in the Mind Crime game with a note that said "Send to Cpt Darren Bartel." It shows Nolan getting video research about dreams from various people.

I'm not sure if this is the actual youtube video or a repost.
@4:56 the video suddenly cuts into a "phone interview" with Cpt. Darren Bartel where he is talking about REM sleep with soldiers before suddenly cutting back to boring doctor talk.

It seems like that device heals wounded people?
And Somnacin is a military project where they're trying to control others dreams. So I'm curious about what thoses doses do, and why they are so dangerous that they can kill people.
An ARG about an upcoming movie where people are controlling peoples unconsciousness perhaps? (My crazy theroies)
I'm in, anyways.

It leads us to a new site: www.projectsomnacin.org (same Warner Brothers IP like the others). Current text is only: "telnet telnet.projectsomnacin.org"
The third speaker's transcript:
Quote:
From a neurophysiological perspective, when one enters REM sleep, random signals are received by the brain's cortex. The cortex then attempts to interpret these signals and this interpretation becomes a dream. This is what allows us the prospect to control the dream, by engaging the conscious mind during this neurophysiological chain of events. It's called lucid dreaming. Once someone's aware they're dreaming, they can actively participate in the dream, sometimes even change it. Usually when you're aware you're dreaming, you wake up. But we have techniques that can train someone to stay in the dream and with enough practice, one can stay in a dream for an extended period of time. Therapists have been using this skill to help patients with night terrors. So when a patient is in a nightmare, they're trained first to acknowledge that they are in a a dream. Then, they can change the experience from a negative one to a positive one. It's incredibly powerful once this skill is mastered. It's uh, it's really why the military's gotten involved in this research.
[Nolan off-camera] The military?
They took it one step further. If one can actively participate in one's own dreams, what would happen if one could participate in another person's dreams? The military calls this Project Somnacin . And from what I've heard, two or three subjects are able to collectively participate in one dream.
[Nolan off-camera] So they share in--
I believe that this woman is solely an actress:
-- she's not identified by name like the other 2 (both G. William Domhoff and Jayne Gackenbach are actual scientists dealing in dream research)
-- she mixes "movie truth" with actual facts
-- and her interview seems rehearsed / far less natural than the others, probably scripted
So I'd guess that her interview gives the most insight into some of Inception's plot.

I'm not normally one to double post but I believe this may be deserving:
Using a telnet client (you can download PuTTY for free), you can connect to telnet.projectsomnacin.org. As this is my first time using Telnet, I really have no clue what I'm doing though. Anyone else want to give it a go?
A 'dir' command shows
Code:
Pasiv Device Project Somnacin Research loc.txt
Trying 'get loc.txt' gives 'Permission denied' and so does trying to 'cd'/change to one of the other directories.
Edit: Aha! Reading up on Telnet commands... command "ls -l" gives you:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
drwxr-x---+ 14 dbartel staff 476 Mar 19 10:04 Research
drwxr-x---+ 5 dbartel staff 170 May 22 2009 Project Somnacin
drwxr-x---+ 5 dbartel staff 170 May 22 2009 Pasiv Device
-rwxr-x---@ 1 dbartel staff 3457 Apr 22 2010 loc.txt
The first part is permissions. The next number indicates the amount of files in each directory. dbartel is the creator's username, obviously Captain Darren Bartel. Next is his group, so we know he's part of the staff for Project Somnacin
(funny, I would have thought he was one of the subjects by his phone interview)
{Rewatched it and he does say "train them", I obviously just wasn't listening correctly}.
I tried logging onto the site as 'dbartel' but it doesn't seem to recognize it. Or, more likely, needs a password that I just don't have.
Completely and in all ways O/T: As this is my 1227th post, I feel the need to have you guys check out: 1227.com
