560=560ft? & "needing to see it in a certain way"?

"560 Reunion Tower in Union Station, Dallas, but he said he "needed to see it a certain way"

As I know very little about the Tower, is the fact that it is called 560 a reference to its height? After all it is 560ft?

If he needs to "see it in a certain way" do we need to upload photos of the Tower from a particular angle, or from within the Tower?

Sorry I'm a newbie at posting...

The restaraunt at the top of the tower is called "five-sixty" and it is indeed named that because the tower is 560 ft tall. The restaraunt actuall IS the ball at the top of the building and it actually ROTATES giving patrons a revolving panoramic view of the city of Dallas. I've always wanted to go but it's one of those things you take for granted when you live in a city. You always say "Oh someday I will go" but end up just going to the same ald bars or the same old clubs instead.

Pretty sure he just meant he needed to see "560", phonetically" (As "five sixty"), which Sylvia already made the connection for as a location related to the other info on the blog.

Alright, fair enough. Well consider me officially following again and if we ever get any kloos leading to posters or live/dead drops, I'll be willing to go ahuntin'.

Where does it say that?

Thank you, Thank all of you, I'm just glad it worked. You can read about the posters at the ARGN article.

Quote:
I had no idea that's what it was about. I only followed EI2, and that was mostly last year, with a very little interaction this year on the blog.

I know in your first post, you talked about two or three different games converging, but I didn't read the ARGN article. I haven't even looked at the other games you mentioned. Without the article, how easy/hard was it to connect the dots?

You really don't need the article but it helps. When Frank told xoNightshade this;
Quote:
Look around, pay attention to a few details that may
not actually come from the image,

I knew what he was talking about. So, I googled Union Station but there were two many so I narrowed it down by using Dallas, TX. Which is were Frank is from and the only way I found Frank was through Sunshine Books, I remembered the article talking about the posters in downtown Dallas, TX. So, I used that to narrow my search for Union Station and what happens when you google Union Station, Dallas TX. You stumble upon the answer.

Hope everything's okay, Sylvia. Would it be okay if I sent you whatever comes my way in the mail?
I'm ok, Thank you Rogi, I just want to spend a lot of time with RL friends and family right now. You keep the gift, but share it with all of us when you get it.

From Frank's blog, there is room for one more. Someone needs to get that spot so we can move forward. Right now it's a beautiful evening outside and I'm going out there and enjoy it. Love you guys.

Yes, good solve Sylvia. I got in with the correct answer and was asked for my address so Frank could send a prize. In a response he said, "Oh you're from Dallas, too? That's cool!" which spurred a few more emails.

I was trying to garner a bit of info about possible locations of the aforementioned defaced posters but he didn't bite. All I really got from him was that he's a freelance IT consultant and he goes "from place to place". When asked about his thoughts on yesterday's demolition of Texas Stadioum he said he thought it was crazy and that he caught it on the news and that I should look for footage on YouTube. I don't think it was a clue, just chit chat.

I'll be sure to share with everyone whatever may come in the mail. I'd also be happy to send it to you Sylvia, since the solve was rightfully yours.

Just got the last spot. Brilliant solve Sylvia. If you PM me your address I'll send you the prize when I get it. I wonder how this will now progress...

My friends,

I would like to thank you, first of all, for participating in my contest. It is always wonderful to find people who share my love for puzzles, but it is a rare thing to find the sort of unique thinking, attention to detail and persistence you have shown. It is for those qualities that I am proud to name you Insiders. Your prizes will be going in the mail today, so look for those to arrive soon.

There is more to this contest than just fun and games, though. I was looking for the best puzzle solvers the world has to offer, and I believe I have found them. From all over the country you came to my blog and proved to me you have what it takes to handle the situation I find myself and now ask you to join me in.

The information I am about to share is of utmost importance and sensitivity, and therefore must be kept in the strictest confidence. Be warned: though I will do everything in my power to make sure this doesn't happen, your very well-being may be put at risk if you help me. Knowing this, I will give you one opportunity to decline that aid. I will not think badly of you.

But if you are up for the challenge, please let me know so I can fill you in on the situation. Time is of the essence, and our success or failure may very well change the world as we know it.

-Frank

I got the email too. I responded and awaiting further instructions. I like being an "Insider" but feel a bit guilty since I only started following right after the solve was posted. Not to worry, though. I'm sure we'll be "Insiders" in name only. No secrets between UFers. I sure hope the PM doesn't think we would keep info from our fellow players.

So...fellow Insiders, we're supposed to focus on the front and the people involved. Do we know any people? How do we find them? I was considering e-mailing "sunshinebooks4less@gmail.com," which is where the contact info is sent to, but I don't know what to say! Any ideas?

Yeah, I looked up the phone number too, then used Google Earth to look at the street and see if I could find posters, a building, any clues...nothing. I have also looked for an Otto Ruskin on Twitter/Facebook/LinkedIn...nothing. I thought maybe Linnekar was an anagram, but none of the results look promising. Sad

Oh, and I found a LinkedIn page for Frank Eastley, but nothing interesting there I don't think.

Notice the list items:

I wonder if they refer to page numbers. And if so, which books? There are three listed on the storefront: The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Animal Farm and Time Series Analysis.

ETA: Email rec'd from Frank

Quote:
It looks like The Booksellers' latest gimmick is to send coded messages through their--you guessed it--books. See what happens when you try to order something. Maybe there's something we can pick up. I'll get back to you if I find anything more specific.

Also, here is the message the "Insiders" received from Frank yesterday in case anyone is confused:

Quote:
I have heard back from the four of you, and though I said I would hold off on contacting you again until I got a response from all five, the situation is too urgent to wait any longer.

Again, I need to stress that this information must be kept a secret. You can share what you feel is absolutely necessary if you need help from an outside source, but do so carefully. The smallest slip-up could blow my cover, and my enemies are well-connected.

I used to a member of an organized crime syndicate here in Dallas known as The Booksellers, the collective nickname we were given because of our storefront, Sunshine Books 4 Less. Never heard of them? That's because they're very good at what they do. I acted as their in-house IT guy for a while, managing the Web site (which they've totally butchered since I left) and taking care of hacking and other tech stuff when we pulled jobs. I was trusted and highly valued by almost everyone.

Long story short, there was a sort of falling out between me and the boss, Linnekar, just before I caught wind of an ongoing project even I wasn't privy to. Turns out for years they've subtly been collecting paintings some Russian artist made several decades ago. I never read too much into it until I started talking to this real owlish old academic who never got his PhD, Otto Ruskin. The boss "hired" him to solve puzzles the artist left in his notebook leading to "It." What "It" is, I have no idea, but from the little bit I've seen in the notebook and the way The Booksellers are so adamant about finding it, It could give them a lot of power we definitely don't want them having. I don't think I'm exaggerating when I say, in the wrong hands, It could completely destroy civilized, democratic society as we know it, starting from the local level and working its way up.

Contrary to the phony blog I've set up, I could care less about puzzles... always sucked at them. That's why I need your help. The Booksellers need to be stopped, and I'm going to be the one to stop them, but the only way to do that is to find It before they do. Yeah, the easy way out would just be to call the cops, but it really won't do anything. These guys have bribed and threatened enough people that the biggest bust the law could come up with would barely put a dent in their operation. Like I said, they're good at what they do.

So we've got to beat them at their own game. I'm working on intercepting some of their communications right now so we can strike straight into the heart of the matter. I'll contact you soon, when I need help. In the meantime, gather up any info you think you'll need about Sunshine. I managed to hack into their server to plug my blog and, believe me, there's not much of value under the surface. Focus on the front itself and the people if you can.

Let me know if there are any questions I can answer. Just don't get frustrated if I have to be a bit vague on details... I have my own safety to consider.

Good luck.

-Frank

But you didn't hear that from me Wink

So I thought maybe those were page numbers followed by scrambled ISBN numbers, since they were 15 numbers long (and ISBN numbers for books are 13 digits). But I couldn't find a match between them and the ISBN numbers for the books on the site. Another false start. Sad
