Not understanding the submit box.
Though I get the feeling there's a twitter page out there somewhere based on page 1 of the 4.
But the one line:
Quote:
"Nah" drones Melissa
was cute.

the FAQ page had a lot fo helpful information. without reading that i'd have had no clue as to what was going on. in case you haven't seen it - the submit box allows you to enter two answers - the first must be typed in all in lower case, the second is a number and should be entered in number form and not word.
the answers are drawn from the clues in the submit box as well as from the pages and pictures of each chapter. and i think that the theme of the whole book/hunt is childrens' literature, though not sure yet to what extent.
i had a quick look last night and will be following this as it seems nicely done.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Willow trees are 'sociable trees' - I forget where I read it though... A children's book, probably.
Also, the bees are clickable, and only lead back to chapter one.
To turn the pages, click the origami swan on the table in the classroom.

The actual puzzle can be found here: http://www.tenthleaf.com/chapter1/index.php
If you're having trouble solving it read this: http://www.tenthleaf.com/faqs.php
The first answer under submit is plural. The second answer is in digits not written out.
Clickable clues:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The bees are the first four pages, in order: Top left, top right, bottom right, bottom left.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Next is the map, in the top left corner of the circle
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Next is the
origami swan
pieces of the broken slate on the desk in the center(ish) of the picture
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Last page is between the girls right shoulder and neck, approximately on her clavicle. This one is small so you may have to hunt for it a bit.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Lastly the carrots underneath the words "Courageous adventurers" give you a close up of the pic so you can "Examine the picture, you may get a clearer view."
Solve:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
A quick google search for "sociable trees" leads you to Anne of Green Gables , the chapter this is mentioned in contains BOTH answers and can be read here: http://www.knowledgerush.com/books/anne11.html#Chapter%2015 (I had to read about 60% of the chapter to find the second answer)
Answers:
(It's more fun to find the answers yourself, but if you must, they are below)
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
"maples are such sociable trees," said Anne
First answer: maples
He's called me a crow a dozen times;
Second answer: 12
Thanks to the forum goers at tweleve.org for letting me know i was on the right track.
Chapter 2 will be available in the next few days. http://www.tenthleaf.com/news.php

I think i went a bit heavy into the tree question. Looking at the map i tried hunting down the tree the leaf depicted was from and came up with ash tree. kudos on finding the answers and thanks, i was stumped.

Chapter 2 has an additional storyline and a puzzle which has me stymied atm.
It's all revealed by clicking on the four intersections in the left hand side illustration's frame and then clicking on a small piglet picture found there. The final click is on the right hand side piggy which appears and the mystery begins. Good Luck
