ooooh, that's pretty, dante. Smile

I just noticed the pignose in the center of Rogi's magical Imagediff version.
Rogi, can you please do the same process with these two images?

I wasn't expecting anything in those, because they were used as backgrounds in both of the earlier newsletters. As such, they probably don't contain easter eggs -- at least not from the set of 48 that are explicitly hidden on that one Q&A newsletter -- but i suppose there could have been earlier hidden goodies. However, the image-diff process is best done on a pair of images which are almost identical, while those two background images are of different sizes.

It's still driving me nuts that Photoshop cannot see the apparent difference between those two .gif files. Nuts, i say, nuts!

I've been looking at things in the surface of the QandA, and nothing really pops out as leading to a 16-character navpath code Smile

There are a few unusual things, but they could be typos:

One of Pomona's answers (about Essy) starts with "Pomona -"

WillWriter's last response is labeled "WillWriter99" but his other answers are just plain "WillWriter."

There are many unnecessary en-dashes (e.g., "There was an enormous burst of activity at one point though - When the website was first posted at Bungie.net..." -- What is that " - " doing there??)

Some of WillWriter's answers in the middle of the QandA all begin with one word: "Partly." "Quite." "Right."

that's about all i got.. I'm trying!

If I could figure out how to crop the longer of the two to match the shorter, we could give it a shot, but while they do seem to use the same source, they appear to be overall different shades of gray, altogether (100% different).

Another twitter "update" at http://twitter.com/sfta_will
Quote:
We've noticed that a few more easter eggs from the Q&A have been found, but some are still undiscovered. Want a hint? :@)

and a few other recent ones:

# I'm open to answer questions - ask me anything! http://formspring.me/willwriter99

# Q:I need something to do over the summer, I... A:There's still more coming down the pipeli... http://formspring.me/willwriter99/q/545661677

# We're happy to say that Ch.2 of both Naira's Shipwreck and Lewis & Clark have been published @ HBOFF. Check'em out http://tinyurl.com/SFTAff

That last one redirects to their novelization not new game.

(tell me again why we're in the general archive and not Ephemeral?)

bump for the latest tweet, a hint (which we did NOT ask for, as far as I know):
Quote:
Q&A Easter egg hint time --There's more in BG3, you see! And once you see, you may say "It's plane as day!"

One might infer from the BG3 bit that we're to revisit the background image of http://thewaytheirworldended.com/SFTACOMM/QABG-H3.gif and perhaps look at layers (color planes). I would, but I have to wash my hair.

Nope, that image has only one layer. (And no "Comments" in the image properties, which I checked just in case.)

I am trying my best to avoid the spoiler block until at least a nudge towards an explanation comes along. I'd like to try working thru the solution on my own. The pictures themselves are not all that much of a reward to me, personally, but I still enjoy having a bonus puzzle to play with.

Your inference was in fact correct. Wink

A new image goes along with each of the links above, but I hesitate simply posting them as attachments (since you can see them, no spoiler tags) if others do want to find them for themselves. If so I can always zip them up and attach.

I have 4 more links to go I believe, but one may suffer from a typo and the other 3 require one more step. I may go ahead and post those images and let you guys finish them off.
