So a couple of thoughts I haven't seen put out.
First (and most unlikely): The first time I saw the video I thought it was proof Alex had been up to more Slendy-hunting recently. To me, the video up until the moment Amy starts recoding seemed like it would be something Alex was filming recently. Therefore: Alex knows that using a camera will bring around Slendy so he tries to hide it. However, he brings it with him when he searches around for Slendy, which he somehow hides from his girlfriend? There are tons of holes in this and I don't really believe it anymore, but maybe someone will come up with something for it.
Second (and definitely likely): The reason Slendy shows up is that Alex is directly filmed by the camera. Notice that when Alex first comes into view and is recognizable as Alex, the camera pauses for two or three seconds. This, to me, is definitely some form of Slendy-distortion caused by recognizing Alex on the camera. I personally agree with the group thinking that Slenderman needs a camera to see with.
Also: the person in the hallway is definitely Alex, definitely not Sarah. The hair for one thing, you can see his neck in between the hair and shirt. And his girlfriend definitely is not Sarah, regardless of whether he says "Amy" or "baby". /rant
Also also: I have some doubts about who is holding the camera prior to the shot we first see Amy. It just seems like the first thing she would do upon finding a camera is to go ask Alex about it, if it really was a rule that there are no cameras in the house. Also, the filming outside the window is too characteristically Marble Hornets for me to believe it was her. At the same time, that would give whoever was holding the camera about two minutes to plant it and get out unnoticed while Amy and Alex were probably home.That doesn't seem likely to me.

What is Alex working on before the tape cuts

After watching the tape and agreeing with what others are saying about Alex and Slendy both acting differently, especially Slendy being much more aggressive, and after reading all the wonderful points being made in this thead got me thinking. With this tape being so long after the last time we saw Alex, obviously he escaped Slendy and went into hiding . After so long being away from SM , his effects on Alex have greatly diminished, thus his acting much calmer and sane. In turn, Alex getting away has sent SM into beyond pissed off mode. I mean, he's Slenderman, bitch. no one gets away with that. So upon finding him, hes no longer in" mindfuck mode but now in attack mode" as someone so greatly put it, and hes wanting to exact some long awaited revenge. And i do believe that Alex is just trying to get her out of the house first and not trying for a one on one meet n greet with Slendy. Just something to think about. havent seen any of this put out there yet. Just my three cents ( i think its worth more than two cents lol)

Actually, I'm really starting to like the theory that this is the camera Seth disappeared with. Something bothered me about the idea that Alex knew Slendy would come if Alex showed up on tape, which is that he doesn't try very hard to get Amy to stop recording. Sure he gets really upset, but if he thought it would cause a Slendy attack, he would probably jump up and forcibly turn it off. At the same time, he is extremely shocked when he sees the camera, so he must have realized something about it in that instant. It makes most sense to me that it was Seth's last camera.
SpiralStatic: he never really says that there is a "no-camera rule" but from the way Amy is talking about it, it seems like she is equally surprised to find a camera. So it would make sense that he had told her early on that there would be no cameras allowed.

About entry 8: I definitely think he is writing Help... but I have a different take on it. In all of the other posters with verbs (at least most) it follows the pattern VERB + ME. I've thought for a while now that what he was writing was "HELPS ME". This would greatly support the theory I read a few pages ago about Slendy actually acting to protect Alex. I don't really buy that particular theory, but it is possible Slendy has some use for Alex and that he has protected him in the past. Possibly he thinks that since Alex uses cameras all the time, Alex can sort of act as his seeing eye dog? That would also explain his pissed off state in this episode, "Why have you stopped using CAMERAS?!" Upon reflecting back, that sounds completely ridiculous. But I still think Alex is writing HELPS ME.
