I emailed Jon Harker to ask if he would like any help in finding out what the man in black is up to (forgot to save a copy to my sent mail folder), and got this reply:

Quote:
Hello [removed],

Again, thanks for your support. I'm always looking for help fighting the man in black - but how do I know I can trust you?

Cautiously,

Jon Harker

I was trying to figure out where this thing could go (if anywhere). I'm composing a reply now, so will tell you if he writes back again!

Spooky email alert!

You need to show a little more caution when discussing Sable & Shuck.

Ginormous URL

However, I am impressed by your detective work and would perhaps be interested in employing you in some way.

We will be in contact.

Director of Punitive Measures
Sable & Shuck

Si peccasse negamus, fallimur, et nulla est in nobis veritas.

The latin at the bottom comes from Dr Faustus by Christopher Marlowe (Marlowe Designs? ho ho.)

Quote:
The reward of sin is death? That's hard.
Si peccasse negamus, fallimur, et nulla est in nobis veritas.
If we say that we have no sin,
We deceive ourselves, and there's no truth in us.
Why then belike we must sin,
And so consequently die.
Ay, we must die an everlasting death.
What doctrine call you this? Che sarà, sarà:
What will be, shall be! Divinity, adieu!
These metaphysics of magicians,
And necromantic books are heavenly!

I think that "If we say... no truth in us" is the translation of the Latin.

EDIT - Ginormous URL - SG

Also:

The email came from pmSPLATsableshuck.com - probably stands for 'punitive measures' but possible 'puppet master'? I can't quite work out what they mean by 'employing' me anyway.

I sent them a reply I forgot to save - basically rapped them on the knuckles for being so unappreciative of the free promotion I was giving their business, said I'd be very interested in their employment opportunities and even threw in a little latin quote of my own.

The email they sent me is a variation on this.

Yeah, one of the people on the RPG forum I posted the link to earlier in this thread had received a very similar e-mail about their thread. So the "PMs" are clearly Googling regularly!

I'm very curious to see where this goes. Just call me a sucker for a sexy campaign Wink So tempted, that I'm pondering contacting Lowes (the agency) directly to see what they say... I've even got my sister intrigued too - she's doing a marketing and advertising degree, so the link was, ahem, educational.

[edit] Gah - trouted by a minute! But that PM thing is a cool coincidence. Or not...

So, what's the verdict? Is this thing live or what's going on?

Whatever it is, it's being very carefully stage managed. There don't seem to be any puzzles - sure there's the odd thing like the Greek on the S&S privacy page but they're more sly references to things on the other sites than things which will lead you to something new.

All there are so far, then, are the emails that we've received, vaguely referring to contact some point in the future. Which, I imagine, will be shortly before a Stellascreen event.

So I'll let this thread sink until we hear anything more.

Re: Jon Harker

Um, just a note, may be mentioned elsewhere:

Jon Harker?

As in 'Johnathan Harker'?

As in Johnathan and Mina Harker, characters from Dracula?

Yeah, just keep an eye on that neck buddy.

Nope, doesn't seem to be any puzzles as of yet... I even checked for Stegs. *heh* If it is Live, we are obviously missing something. If it isn't, all we can do right now is wait... and bug the men in black over at S&S.

Weird. This thing has been dead for months and I just got an e-mail from Sable & Shuck. Halloween? Kind of creepy if you ask me.

This game... it lives??

Woo, perhaps it will become something after all. Even with my cheap, dirty soul.

I received an email as well. I haven't been able to find any puzzles. I'm wondering if this may be related to virtucube? It's a bit unusual that both started or are supposed to start on halloween.
