Reasons:

1. Release Date:
CoD 7 doesn't even have a proper title, let alone a release date. It's way too early for an ARG.
Singularity's release date is right around the corner. (June 29)

2. The elements clues:
In singularity, elements play an important role especially element 99 Einsteinium.

3. The dates in the last puzzle:
In singularity you travel from the past to the present and back and forth.
We had 2 date clues in the last puzzle, 5/5/2010 and 5/5/1961

4. Morse code:
The morse code on gknova was translated to RAIS, a signature acronym for the functions of the primary weapon in Singularity.

5. CoD fans:
Singularity is an FPS, they probably figured that CoD fans would be interested in it.

Singularity also contains prominent links to Russia.

Finally, in Singularity the "singularity" is caused by a catastrophe most likely involving WMD's.

I know, some of my points are pretty weak, but taken as a whole I think it's rock solid evidence this is for Singularity.
I love your reasons. Post them on CoDz QUICK.

That'll teach those Treyarch-loving bastards.

Good arguments are made for both sides. Guess we'll find out eventually.

Meh, I knew it was for Singularity. Call of Duty isn't the kind of game to make an ARG of.

Gee, maybe we should have read the Wiki...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Singularity_%28video_game%29

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The plot revolves around a mysterious island known only as "Katorga-12" where Russian experiments involving "E99" (Element 99, which appears to be an equivalent to the actual element Einsteinium, which has no special properties like those referenced in the game), took place during the height of the Cold War era. Sometime during 1950, a terrible catastrophe known as the "Singularity" occurred on the island. The player controls Nate Renko, an Air Force pilot who is sent to investigate bizarre radiation emissions coming from the island, only to crash land there. After regaining consciousness, Nate finds the TMD (Time Manipulation Device) and discovers that the island is constantly shifting between the time periods of 1950 and 2010. Renko's goal is to find his co-pilot, escape the island and eventually prevent the Singularity from occurring. Besides having to deal with hostile Russian forces in both time periods, the player must also deal with hideously mutated flora, fauna and former residents of the island, some of which have developed time manipulation powers of their own.

Yeah, that does seem to fit, don't it? Guess I should try to reach out to my associates at Raven...

I reviewed the threads on CODZ and on here and I cant see any reference made to the obscured word that appears in the first transmission on gknovasix.com ( between first showing the baseball stadium and the baseball itself:

What does this say??

I only just noticed this today after re-watching several times over the last couple of weeks.

Have we identified what this says/whether it has relevence and if not what does it say?

It looks like DYNAMITE???

or

NY??????

Possibly a line of text above it???

Hmmm if this hasnt been noticed it could be important....

Here are some other grabs ;

Spectrum Shift ("Shift spectrum" etc) done on my limited graphics package

Slightly Sharpened with area highlighted

I havent seen this before so has it already been discovered and explained or has it been added after original Transmission 1????

After looking again could it say Dynamise ( to make more dynamic )?

I wonder if you could "spectrum shift" all of the transmissions there may be more info "The answer is right in front of you"...

Ok, I just watched transmission 1 again to see how obvious it is. Wow! Now, that had to have been added recently 'cause I've sat and watched these videos over and over again. That word is so obvious there's no way I would've missed it before.........

Exactly same for me....I've watched it probably 10 times before and this time it just jumped out at me.

I based all my analysis so far on the grabs CarbonFibah posted over at CODZ (shakes fist at Carbon lol ) but it didnt include that frame...

I have reviewed a couple of youtube vids of the original transmission and it does appear in ALL of the previous videos ...this is from April the 5th (in HD) and you can clearly see the word appear...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ax-vK-MO7sA

I accept your reasoning as valid but humbly offer this rebuttal.

1.) Release dates rarely mean anything as far as an ARG is involved. For example, the Dark Knight viral began around April/May 2007 when the movie didn't come out until July of 2008. The Tron viral started in July 2009 when the movie doesn't come out until December 2010. So since Activision has projected a working release date for COD7 of Autumn this year, it's not really that unlikely that a viral for it could have started now.

2.) COD7 has been rumored to take place during the Cold War. Which encompasses all of the information we've received so far: Uranium/plutonium was stockpiled by both the US and Soviets for weapons use. The world's first IBCM (intercontinental ballistic missile) to deliver nuclear payloads anywhere in the world was developed by the Russians, who demonstrated it's ability by launching Sputnik. The nerve gases discovered in the last puzzle are obviously warfare weapons.

3.) And of course the major one, there was already an ARG for Singularity [link]. It did end without finishing when the Singularity release date was pushed back, but I doubt that they would start up a whole different campaign rather than picking up where they left off.

Both sides of the argument have their valid points, but as Nighthawk said "Guess we'll find out eventually." In fact, an official COD7 press release is scheduled for May 14th. So maybe we won't even have to wait for too long. Very Happy

Did you completely forget that those Treyarch loving bastards are the ones who received the USB drive that discovered this viral campaign in the first place? >_>

Gee where do you think I got my information from?

Bah who needs to cite sources, it's not like people will come along later and say hey look what i found you should have read this...ok fine, my bad nighthawk

Degravedi:

1.) Yes I realize this was my weakest point.
2.) "CoD 7" also takes place in vietnam which we have seen 0 references to.
3.) Probably the strongest argument for a CoD arg, but let me offer this as a counterpoint:

Did you completely forget to read something before you responded to it? I refer you to point #5. By the way, CoD fans were not the only ones to receive the flash drive. And I would like to point out for the record that I did not call anyone treyarch-loving or a bastard. I don't know you that well.

And I would like to thank the PM's for leaving us something to argue about while we wait for transmission 4. And I hope I have a PC capable of playing this game when it comes out, whatever it is.

I have irrefutable evidence that this game is for neither COD7 nor Singularity. It is in fact a massive viral/ARG for the forthcoming movie adaptation of the third book in the Twilight series.

I too received one of these mysterious USB drives but mine included a note.
