I meant to ask before - what the heck is he wearing? Is he hosting a BBQ? Some kinda Masonic apron thingie?
Also, what do the colons mean in the address? Do we ignore them or do they modify the preceding letter somehow? I couldn't find any colons on a hacker translator page . . .
after discussing this in #unfiction, these symbols are for phonetic spelling.
Bill found a great page here http://www.antimoon.com/how/pronunc-soundsipa.htm
we also found charts (but without examples) http://www.arts.gla.ac.uk/IPA/fullchart.html and http://www.essex.ac.uk/speech/teaching-01/474/lg474-99-4b.html
so as near as we can tell, the "h u:" is the h (as in hello) followed by a long U (as in blue, food, lou, and shoe).
and the "I n" is the short I (as in hit or sitting) and the n (as in ten).
so, we've got something that sounds like hoo_in
the first could be hoo, hooh, who, hu, huu or something to that effect.
the last could be in, n, inn, en, inh, ihn, or something to that effect.
we don't think hugh or hew are correct, since technically, the phonetic spelling should be "h y u:", but that's just an opinion.

I also found the same website. If you dig a little deeper, in the examples section. (http://www.antimoon.com/how/pronunctransdemo.htm )
"h u:" = who (it's about half way down the page)

Here's some spec that ties in the picture. suppose h:u does stand for "who". Maybe that means who is in the picture. I've tried a few combo's of lincoln and abe with _n but am not really that interested.
Talk amongst youselves. I'll give you a topic. The topic is who.

Alex, I'll take "Bearded Guys Who Look Like Abe Lincoln, Celebrating a Touchdown" for $100

under the international phonetic alphabet (which is being used in the lincoln pic) hue would be pronounced "h j u:" where "j" is the sound of the "y" in yes or yellow.

DonkeyOatey wandered through #uf last night and observed that "who_n" should ring a bell with programmers - and now I forget the details but basically it's a tag in Unix (? I probably remember that wrong) that points to a name and the answer would have the same format - e.g. abe_lincoln -- who by the way has a live journal page. (DO found it, not me.)
http://www.livejournal.com/~abe_lincoln
That one's probably not in-game (old, one strange "friend"). But the point is maybe we really are just looking for a name like that.

...---... l ai v dZ 3: n .. l d o t k o m s l @ S t i l d .. h u: ^ n d r s k o: r i n ...---...
There's still the last "i" unaccounted for. "i n" would be "in" or "inn". So translated literally would be "who_in" or "who_inn". Does this mean anything in Unix?
Tried various combinations of "who", "abe", "abraham", "lincoln", "abelincoln", etc and "in", "inn". No valid pages...

The extra "i" I think the "i" is part of the pronunciation of the letter "n". The NAME of the letter "n" is pronounced "en", not just the "n" sound.

What she said.... Yeah... what she said.
*I* can't say anything about it, but she can.
You're definitely on the wrong track with the Abe thing. If you had read my post about it being Masonic, you would have been able to get a bit farther already.

Along with the ...---... morse code, it's pretty obvious somebody's in trouble.
