I've noticed that with some of the clips. They definitely make good use of stereo effects to give a better impression of the characters in relation to each other. Since some of them are so far away from the supposed point of recording, they're rather difficult to hear when I'm listening without headphones, so I would expect those to be even worse on just a payphone with a phone-quality recording.

Since when do you have to be a grad student to get into a medical school. I have friends at university now doing medicine at the ages of 19/20/21. OK, maybe they're only in nursing, but they still study the nervous system, anatomy etc.
[spec] Who says Kamal isn't doing Nursing instead of training to become a Doctor. [/spec]

Over here, you're a hard-core med student from day 1. Seven years later you're a doctor. No "nursing" step required. In the future, the educational system may have changed, but it's certainly possible now to be 18 and training to become a doctor..

Anybody notice that there are two different time for the same GPS corr. for "would_that_help"? Just curious...

Actually, there are 4 at that coordinate, 6 minutes apart starting at 1119 PDT and finishing at 1137 PDT. We were able to connect the last call, but the other three did not ring on the axon phone previously used.

raffle

please forgive if this is already known... I did a search and got nothing, so I thought I would post in hopes of contributing. I activated the raffle axon here in memphis a couple of days ago, and since it has not reached 5/5, I thought I could paraphrase. (I do not have the means to record, so this will be a very loose paraphrase):
from what I can remember... jersey looses his chatter somehow and dhurga arranges to get him a new one through a raffle he was unaware of entering after buying beer a few months back. She apparently orchestrates the raffle to get him the new chatter.

I do not think the theory of Jan being Kamal's sister makes much sense. She is 17, which would make him 21 at the oldest, which is a bit young for a grad student.

Although I don't think Jan is Kamal's sister either, I don't think we can use his age to rule this out. We know that Kamal is a brainiac. He could have started college at 14 for all we know. Maybe we're looking at this storyline's answer to Doogie Howser.

Sorry this is a bit late, but yes - as Shad0 mentioned, I activated the AMC theatre 16:33 axon yesterday. When I got there, I saw this buisnessman sitting next to the phone. I thought it was odd, but he was probably waiting for someone. Until he said hi and I slowly figured out it was a fellow beekeper. Well, while waiting for the crucial moment, Shadow and I had a short chat, and then he nicely let me do the honors (my first enhottenated axon! yay!) Anyhow, I was nervous as hell too - Shad0 could tell you I jumped the gun a few times. I was just like "APOCALYPSO!!!! FOR THE LOVE GOD!!!!" I heard something about "Problems at your location" and thought there was too much ambient noise. But all went well. I took some pictures too - they're in the media thread. Anyhow, I'm glad that after all the bruhahah about the Palo Alto phone, that I finally got to answer a phone down here.

(For all curious, I didnt answer the phone on Tuesday because I had class)

I searched, but didn't find any discussion on this.

I just counted up the total number of "AXON SUCCESS" words for each of the older sections(links, hivekuts, and recipe3). I also counted up the total number of "AXON HOT" words for fable so far.

I started this count when the number at the top said 468/777.

Here is what I came up with:

LINKS = 150 AXON SUCCESS
HIVEKUTS = 201 AXON SUCCESS
RECIPE3 = 6 AXON SUCCESS
FABLE = 131 AXON HOT

This total comes to 488 instead of 468. What happened to the missing 20 HOT Axons? Do the Axons that have multiple occurrances only count as a single HOT Axon for the entire section?

Sorry if this isn't the place to put this, but I just that this was strange. Confused

Regardless, the point is that it clearly sets the date of the axon plot at nearly 2 decades BEFORE the events of teh first halo game. That changes a lot of theories and disproves a lot of speculation.

Only, I don't find this as definitive as you you make it out to be. I am not convinced that Kamal's sister was abducted at the same time the initial abductions (or at least the only ones we know about so far, with John-117) took place. We don't know for sure whether there was one and only one abduction period, or whether they continued to recruit and abduct "candidates" after John-117 and his generation were taken. So while I wouldn't be too surprised to find out Kamal's sister was a contemporary of MC, I also wouldn't be surprised to find out that this occurs after the whole story of Halo:CE as well.

Dallas Axons

Back on Tuesday, I lit up:
zip_your_shirt 6:37 32.776608 -96.807302
and
skin 8:57 32.778333 -96.807433

Gonna try to get this one today
i_durga 15:39 32.778833 -96.807833 , although it's in a gov't building, so that's kinda creepy.

i_durga 15:41 32.779197 -96.806054 is 2 mins later, across the street up the way. I scoped it out a couple of days ago and it rings when I call it, but it didn't ring on Tuesday. So I'll try again today if I can and try to pick up the phone at the time and see if it answers. If time doesn't allow me to hit it today, I'll try on Friday, unless the file goes live w/o it.

Can't find the phone at
very_lucky 7:57 32.804062 -96.789194
but it was lit up in an earlier round. Anyone know where it is?

Hello again:

Okay this is getting crazy trying to get these axons hot. I've been trying to figure out this last axon in Phoenix Arizona since this all began. It would never ring. I verified the GPS coords and that the phones address according to www.payphone-directory.org was correct. I called them to make sure they received incoming calls and they do and yet they never ring. Well I just got a bright idea and discovered why. The phone numbers listed on www.payphone-dierctory.org are no longer the numbers listed on the actual payphones at that GPS site. I called the numbers listed for those phones that ILB would be calling and found that one is out of service and the other belongs to a buisness now. I called the business and they said YES they had been reciveing a weird recorded message at the same time everyday. I'm going there tomorrow and see if we can get it. If not tomorrow then Monday.

So if your phones don't ring check the number on the payphone with the one on www.payphone-directory.org and see if they match.

Just FYI, if raffle and i_durga are not unlocked tomorrow, they definitely will be on Saturday. I can finally go down and get 8:21 and 15:33 on the weekend.

4 more axons in SF are HOT

1:37 - HOT
I met Ariock at 1:30 for the 1:37 at Market and Main. It is hottentotted (domestic_skills).

1:49 - HOT
He hopped on BART, I hopped on the streetcar to get to the Powell one by 1:49. I got there and Ceantari was already there. She got it hot (smarter).

2:43 - HOT
As Ceantari said (see SFAxonHunters), we waited at Starbucks until it was time. This is the famous non-ringing yet working phone. This time I covered my mouth (against the loudness of the world) and nearly yelled Apocalypso, overenunciating it, and it worked. It's so sexy, it is hot (your_fault).

3:49 - HOT
Ariock and I strolled up to Broadway and Columbus (we went up Powell at first because we just love hills). We got there way early and there was a guy on one of the phones....the CORRECT phone, OUR phone. The dude had a notebook and was on the phone for 15 minutes. Ariock said if he was still on it at 3:44, he'd offer him a dollar to get off of it. Then a guy showed up who doesn't look at unfiction but is a fellow beekeeper. He said he'd kick in a dollar too! Luckily, they got to keep their hard-earned cash, since the dude got off the phone with 7 minutes to spare. Ariock did the honors and made the axon so hot, it sizzles (butter_flavored).

Thank you for your help Krystyn - sorry about that. I will keep the URLs short from now on!
