not to stoke fire, but under the current verson of the ODPT Guidelines (http://eventservices.disney.go.com/files/DisneyPinTrading_PinFormationGuidelines_April2009.pdf )

The main criteria to judge whether a pin is tradable or not is that it must be a metal pin bearing a "©Disney"mark on the back that represents a Disney Event, Place or Location, Character or Icon.

Pins from other business units of The Walt Disney Company (i.e.ABC, ESPN) are accepted for trade.

Operating participant pins that show a Disney, Disneyland®Resort, or Walt Disney World®Resort affiliation are accepted for trading.

so seeing as Space Paranoids is Disney movie cannon, as is Sam Flynn i beleve that thes would be tradable, Note: the pin from the CA event is also shown in Pin Picts and is "Tradable" in their database....

so they may be tradeable in disney terms, but i forsee similar pins comming out at or before the movies release in the parks/online.....[/b]

Unless I'm mistaken, these pins do not bear that mark.

Nope on both counts. If I see my sweet 89 pin in a theme park for anyone to buy I'll shake my fist at the mouse ears...

Man, I am an ARG snob...

Not being any sort of ODPT'r, I do have a few of the pins that qualify by virtue of having lived a while in FL near the Land of the Mouse. One pair of pins I have show that Disney is often clever in creating a similar item with differing purposes, while maintaining the exclusivity of each item. My case is a pair of pins in the iconic mouse head shape with a US flag motif. They are different enough to tell apart, so you wouldn't confuse the one sold retail with the one only given away to people who actually attended a location/event in person. If Disney makes a retail version of these pins, they're likely to be designed to differ obviously enough to make clear which are the genuine ARG pins.

This might be yet another 'stab at a trade', but does anyone have a spare 'FlynnLives T-Shirt', preferably from XL and up, that would be willing to trade for an '89 pin'? If so, please PM me and we'll trade info, thanks in advance!

Making another stab ...

I'd love to get any of the "BITS" that were sent out, or really any items from the early stages of the ARG. (Possibly an arcade coin.)

Drop me a line and we can work something out.

The whole hobby of pin trading goes back a long way, and apparently originated with Olympic pins going back to the late 19th or early 20th century. I know that it had spread to Boy Scouts in the US by 1985 at the National Jamboree that year, and seems to have emerged in Disney circles in the late 1990s. Like the various forms of collector card trading, it seems to carry with it a certain fervor and etiquette as it crosses from different genres and cultures.

That, or it's just because they are shiney objects.

I just know I love my pins so far, and that 89-4-ever pin is the epitome of subtle, elegant design. I know the Space Paranoids reference is caught by a fair number of people, but the 89-4-ever logo has thus far brought only questions.

The 89 pin is a thing of beauty. The design simple and elegant, everything a good logo/icon should be. That and it's just a gorgeous pin.

That, and it's got some very elegant double-meanings in it. The eight on its side is basically an 'infinity' symbol... '89 Forever indeed!

re: Pins

So did any one else get multiple 89 pins / stickers in their packs? One pack I got has 3 stickers 2 89 pins and a space paranoids pin. So looks as if I have some xtras for trade. Bits, coins, or a future promise for the comiccon event codes/swag. hit me up

How can I get an Encom Guest Pass/Badge?
How can I get an Encom Guest Pass/Badge?

I've checked eBay the last few days, and don't see any listings for an Encom Guest Pass. I've registered on FlynnLives and have my "official" Group 7 clearance, and have lot's o badges. Been going through the ARG (tx unfiction!) and everything seems very cool.

Is there anyone here that would be willing to part with their Guest Badge? I know u can't do anything with it, but ever since I got the badge with my face on it, I've been dying to get the guest pass too...

Tx 4 any help!
