I was able to open a new tab (using IE).

You're right the Ctrl commands do work in IE.

Ok after experimenting. Ctrl commands do not work at all in FF. Ctrl-P works in Safari but not Ctrl-T or Ctrl-E (if Ctrl-E was supposed to do something normally in safari)

Pressing control at the Y/N prompt in IE and Safari gets entered as a blank character. In FF it doesn't do anything.

I don't have chrome, how does it respond? I know this is probably not important at all but I'm curious from a web design standpoint.

Is it actually... ehm... legal, if I'll post on my blog screenshots from the leaked trailer. I mean, I'd love to analyse it, but the visitation by an Paramount Lawyer would't make my day. (Or they won't send me merchandise like they did it in case of Star Trek Smile)

@Cloverfieldnews Thanx for setup the blog.

@degravedi I am sure, with "the remake of a teen sex comedy" they've mistakenly meant another movie: "Super 8" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I99XFtSMsnw

When I hit the "Print" button, the print confirmation window appeared BEHIND the main console window. I had to shrink it and move it out of the way to hit the "OK" to print.

ctrl t = new tab
ctrl E or P just puts an e or p at the command prompt..

Hitting backspace creates what looks like a plus sign with an underbar

*all of this is in Chrome...

@Nighthawk,

Even if Spielberg is paying money, JJ Abrams sees this movie as homage to Spielberg:

I know, sounds crazy Smile

@Sirpoins
Nice idea about another page.
What does >>>> stay for?
"Four Greater than Signs" or so? A hint perhaps?
I mean, this one: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greater-than_sign

No problem. I ran cloverfieldnews.com back in the day so I figured I should jump on this one too.

But really, thanks to all you guys for jumping on this stuff so quick, I woke up this morning and you guys had already figured all this stuff out. My goal is to just keep everything in one place because I'm sure things will get a little hectic once more stuff comes to light and people try to jump in, in the middle.

This is great to see! I have been looking forward to getting back in after the Star Trek game. Nothing better to come back to than another Abrams cloverfield style game! 7 Days is going to be a brutal wait. Laughing

Yeah, I know you from the good ol' Cloverfield times Smile
I feeded my RSS-reader with your blog.

I've been watching this closely since the start. Now it looks like I'm going to have to get involved. Now if only the stupid mysterious files would load faster...

I already posted screens on page 5 of this thread.

EDIT: just thought I would add that I did go through the trailer frame by frame. And besides the SCARIESTTHINGIEVERSAW message at the end there isn't really anything else to note.

Btw, the puppetmasters are very smart this time: countdown is server based (not local PC time based). (My old trick to change the time on my pc wasn't successful).

This small detail does mean, they are really thinking about every possibility and we can wait for interesting developments.

*Le Sigh* I have something that I think merits sharing, though I'm not exactly certain that everyone would agree.

First, I've been having some completely unrelated computer problems lately. So, just now I was fooling around with my internet security settings. After which, I reloaded the scariestthingieversaw.com site to keep the countdown running. Well, after the "Press any key to continue" portion, I got a prompt that said my blocker was blocking a script on the page from connecting to something else.

The "System Now Loading External Data" came up, but very quickly went through each of the 20 lines with "Previously accessed" after all of them. Then the spoilered bit below showed up.

Now before taking a look, I'd like to justify my posting this. I tried accessing the information it seems to show but had no controls to do so. My guess is that once the page is actually done counting down, we'll be able to manipulate that data (copy, execute, whatever). Since there's really nothing that can currently be done with the information, I see no harm in posting it.

That said, as recently discussed in another thread, I'm one of those people that likes to chew on the Tootsie Pop to get to the center. So, if you're not one of those people, just wait until the countdown's done. Razz

@degravedi Cool,
perhaps you are on something. I'd love the idea with controlling this console system (and I have a feeling, I've already had such experiences with another ARG, forgot which was it).

Btw. I don't make you people paranoid, or so, but I'm making thoughts about user "codydillion", who uploaded the leaked trailer.

1) He joined Youtube in July 2006, but there aren't another films else (sure, perhaps he don't want people to get know his identity, since he posted this trailer).
2) The comments are closed. If it were somebody found the trailer, he would actually open comments to harvest congrats and all the "awesome"s.
3) The trailer is till now not deleted.

Does it perhaps mean, this account was supposed to post this trailer. I mean, this is not a leak, but intentional "trailer placement"?

Let's see, if this trailer won't disappear, like Paramount did it with Youtube in the case of Cloverfield (they sued Youtube or so?), it does mean, that Paramount learned much more about viral marketing and I'd appreciate it!

After all, so they could prevent everybody taking camera in the cinema theater this weekend for filming Trailer (and than coincidently Iron Man 2), hehe.

Anyway, if it were people from Paramount, my hugest respect to their strategy!
If it was somebody else, my hugest respect to his courage Smile

In a related note, this doesn't do anything either lol:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
If you block this script ( http://www.scariestthingieversaw.com/LoDRightClickTrap.js ) with an ad blocker or such you can right click on the movie and zoom in and stuff. It's interesting that the initial screen doesn't go away, it just hides in the background. Also there is a pic that showed up in my adblocker, though I don't know why it would show up legitimately.
http://www.scariestthingieversaw.com/img/error.jpg
ETA: I think the error might show up if your flash is out of date or it can't run.

Thanks Yiddleja...I finally got it to print..

what does it mean though...do you suppose there is some site where someone is posting info publicly about the Area 51 thingy and someone else is telling them to stop? If so...should we be looking for a website?

That's pretty much what I think. I have been trying different things with some of the code but so far nothing. All dead-ends. May have found the Official Facebook page though...

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Super-8/119732268054336

Not sure if this is legit or not but if it is it brings up Kosmopol's point of the "leaked" teaser being on purpose as they have it there as well.

*Edit*Might have been it or a fake as it's no longer there. Perhaps they got a takedown notice?
