We obviously aren't sitting at the computer desktop we are seeing, hence using the 'remote' app. The program being run on that desktop is a PDP 11 emulator, which would be a contemporary computer system to the era of the film. Basically, we are accessing a computer remotely in current time, running an emulator in current time which allows us to run some old software from the time of the incident.

Which is taking forever as it used to back then..

Verisimilitude, friend, Verisimilitude.

That, or we're actually using an emulator to tap into an ACTUAL computer in the 1970s. Electronic time travel... (probably not)

So basically you're saying we've hacked into the TARDIS? Laughing

Wow! That's the most I've seen completed so far. What is interesting is that even though it's on 17 the file list is still B4. Hm..

Using this post as a baseline, and calculating the time since then and then averaging it to 5 second intervals i get 1.120746207
ticks every 5 seconds. This puts it ending sometime on Thursday. Someone else feel like checking my math? I'm going to test it using a different baseline.

ETA: Using a different baseline I get 1.00xx ticks every 5 seconds, so I blame vapor's post Rolling Eyes

Dan Morris

D. Morris = Dan Morris?

He's mentioned in several websites as a retired Master Sergeant for the United States Air Force who has testified about Area 51.

Yidleja, can you post your screencap as an attachment so the thread isn't stretched?

This is the wackiest "countdown" I've ever encountered.

I wonder how it works, really?

Seems we just had a 9000 byte jump, if yours isn't over 27000 26950 hit refresh or open a new window.

ETA: It's also contacting the server about every 1.5 seconds now. Meaning it's no longer fully client-side.

Someone on the IRC chat just posted this:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
http://i43.tinypic.com/15cczuc.jpg

They took apart the SWF file, and apparently this should happen on May 13 at 20:00 PDT.
