So far the source is relatively unremarkable...

Makes me think of the Amblin logo. Fingers pointing, looking kinda glowy. The moon...No bike or anything but it just makes me think of it.

Woohoo! I finally contributed something and usually I just lurk. Wasn't sure how to tag the thread or I would have created it myself. Embarassed

thanx azure! Laughing

When I first saw the newspaper pages, the first thing i focused on was that brand name and immediately started to enter it as a domain name. It reminded me a lot of slusho. I'm sure in no time the site will be live and have some creepy music and animated donkeys. can't wait! Shocked

Wonder if we can get a kind soul to link the PDF for the "Poppeteers" coupon, or a facsimile, so the folks that are having trouble can see and print one?

don't websites that are known to be IG usually have the same whois info?
i noticed scariestthingieversaw was registered under markmonitor and poppeteers was under godaddy. although i did see poppeteers was registered before anyone would have known the brand name. anyone got some insight on why they would do it this way?

No, not really.

I don't believe Slusho.jp was hosted by the same group as the rest of the Cloverfield sites.

In sufficiently large campaigns, it's safe to think that there may be multiple entities "behind the scenes", and each may use his/her own resources. Furthermore, there may be different hosting packages for "dynamic" sites (sites that have server-side logic) as opposed to "static" sites (non-changing content).

I don't know if the Poppeteers site will amount to anything, or if it's there simply for branding and so that nobody else gets the domain. I myself have been known to create single page sites just to establish an entity.

Good point, Nighthawk. And the ad itself, for "Rocket Poppeteers", which look a LOT like 'bomb pops'...shades of "Slusho" (whose 'mystery ingredient' MUST be kept cold)...an odd coincidence, no?

Do NOT attempt to hack the FTP site, please.

Just don't. Trust me.
