Re: Back to that map!

Sorry, I know you've probably moved on, but that map, with the key on the road, seems to have a hidden image on it... Not sure if anyone has noticed it or not... The field above the key image looks photoshopped, especially when compared to the Bing map Razz

The field, i'm guessing, has been turned over since the Bing snap, but if you zoom out so that it just about fills the map box area and blur your eyes a little, you can see what appears to be a human shaped figure lying down... I think it's a box, with something locked inside (hence the key underneath, and the strange 6628 number at the side of the key, a combination maybe?) Just look, for me, so I know I'm not crazy! There's a head on the left hand side and definite other features that suggest this.

Also, on this website, http://www.realwebsiteworth.com/rocketpoppeteers.com thought it was funny to see the name of a location to the left of where the RocketPopp's server supposedly is; "Surprise!"

Has anyone also noticed the giant dotted "X" on the field just down and to the right of the key? Not sure what significance, if any, any of this information has, just thought I'd share what's on my mind while we're waiting for this site to open it's doors!

I haven't been able to see any of what you pointed out except for the key shaped thing. I haven't even been able to see the 6628, which others pointed out that they also saw. Has anybody posted pics of the specific parts yet? I seem to be unable to find them myself :\

The only maps I could find from Minot near the 60's would be this one, from 1959. Scroll till you see Minot. http://www.historicmapworks.com/Atlas/US/9551/Ward+County+1959/

Using Google Earth, it seems the image with the "key" was taken on July 25, 2006.

Yeah my initial thought is that it means nothing. But idk how these args work, so maybe JJ Abrams was allowed to mess around with the photos & add clues.

This is probably relevant here.

Do dig the fact that he helped write "In the Shadow of the Moon" instantly thought of the Poppeteers logo.

I was thinking that "In the Shadow of the Moon" could be important, so I cropped the moon from the picture.

I don't think Minot will figure seriously in the game, as it's a fairly small town, and with respect to North Dakotans, ARGs usually involve fairly big cities so that more people are likely to be there.

In any event, my Astronaut Name is Luna Lovegood...

It does look like the images in the poster for "In the Shadow of the Moon"...but I can't think of any connection material-wise.

It's a pretty odd picture of the moon, given the swirls and inflections of white that appear on it.

Also, if you look to the far right of the image halfway down, you see this circle with a line through it. Reminded me of that old "sword through the swirl" symbol we became familiar with through the Cloverfield viral - on the Tagruato site etc. But it's not identical.

If you turn the picture (or turn your head to the left) that rocket going into the moon looks more like a drill of some sort. Possibly???

Doesn't the Rocket Poppeteers site, kinda go against staying true to timelines and such?

I mean in 1977 or 1980 w/e there wouldn't be any websites right?

I don't even think there was an Intrawebz yet?

Well "The Beast" was set in the future... A dystopic future where every website looked virtually identical... But whatever. Wink

Anachronisms such as what you are suggesting are acceptable in ARGs. They wouldn't have any other way to make it available to the masses.

lol just had a look through that link - it also yields this information:

Private, Registration ROCKETPOPPETEERS.COM @ domainsbyproxy.com

but i doubt we could get through to the viral folks through that, its probably just the domainsbyproxy contact who organized the domain for them

 Moon Phases

This maybe a stretch... but maybe moon phases come into play on when the site might open? I think the site is a waning crescent? So maybe it will open during the next waning crescent which i think is the 21st or 22nd?

About the moon on the site, while it does look like an eye and mouth or drill, i see 'C'

now the people who debate the moon landing as fake, there's a photo of a rock that has the letter 'C' on it

http://nl.tinypic.com/view.php?pic=bimceb&s=5 (it's safe)

it's just something i noticed after looking for the 500th time.
