[SPEC] Train Derailment Shrouded in Mystery (Florida)
April 8, 1979

Ok, I was digging around looking for train derailments. The one in Oxford didn't quite make sense to me. When I looked for those in 1979, I found this:

http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=CrUyAAAAIBAJ&sjid=mWcEAAAAIBAJ&pg=5807%2C5285323

Now, the derailment is in the Florida panhandle, but it "just so happened" to be near the Eglin Air Force Base. Gentlemen from the AFB went to clean it up. They evacuated tons of people stating hazards from chemicals that the train was carrying (cover-up IMHO). Also, they refused to disclose where the train was headed.

Also, look at the article just below the stub of this story titled "20th Anniversary". Notice anything odd? GORDON COOPER is in the picture. There are two more articles about this derailment that I'm currently looking into. I'll post more if I find anything new in them.

Another interesting thing is the bottom article on that page, which talks about nuclear radiation. It might just be a giant coincidence, but it does seem to relate to the Kennedy speech from the RSCOM8 newspaper page.

The Gordon Cooper thing is spooky, though!

I'm slightly put off by the fact that this derailment is in Florida, but it's certainly a good find!

How close would this be to cape Canaveral? Considering this is where NASA is correct? I would imagine if Cooper is in pics of this it must be fairly close.

Location of Derailment

Somewhat far away, but I don't think NASA is related here. See the following link for location:

http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=CrUyAAAAIBAJ&sjid=mWcEAAAAIBAJ&pg=4832%2C5349034

(look to the left of the article heading).

You have a point. I don't think it would be the same train... unless they needed to pick up a burger for NASA or something. Razz

Unknown Owner

This was what I found unusual about the shipment (from the article):

"Gill (Peter Gill, hazards control officer for Seaboard Cost Line, mentioned earlier in the article) refused to say who owns the chemicals that were being transported by the train or exactly where they were going. He would only say that the tankers were on their way to switching points and from there would go in different directions."

That, combined with the whole Gordon Cooper article is what made me think this was our crash.

The large explosions would also explain the unusual buckling in the train seen in the trailer given that it was only hit by a truck.

Whoah, I'll have to read them. I can't decide if it is that much of a coincidence or not... we'll see.

I have no idea how or if this is connected. But I had to blink when I checked one of the other articles listed on the right as being associated and on the same page as the article (which was identical to the one on the first page with cooper) there was another article that talked about a Snake Headed monster being sought in Siberia. Its on the link for the Schenectady Gazette http://news.google.com/newspapers?id=lgUxAAAAIBAJ&sjid=ieAFAAAAIBAJ&pg=1797,2962532&hl=en
